Houlahan's Dream 541 Report post Posted December 25, 2018 Surely even with the new drainage it will come up Heavy. Seems no end in sight to the rain which is regularly dousing the city. And no real drying wind either. Could be scratchings galore in the morning....

Blue 1,099 Report post Posted December 25, 2018 And dare I say it, another exampl of what's wrong with nz racing. People dont want to race. Sure heavy 10 at 7.30 but while there may be more rain there could also be a huge upgrade between then and 3-4 this arvo. Handfuls of horses running for good money. 5 or is it 6 races at Awapuni with 4 runners. Nobody wants to race for 25 or 30k.Not worth betting. Not worth watching. Best value today? Boxing day sales imho.

crustyngrizzly 1,701 Report post Posted December 25, 2018 No expert but it may be classified heavy but nowhere near a winter heavy and i would expect it to dry out rapidly. Blue and chevy86
We're Doomed 4,865 Report post Posted December 25, 2018 Thank goodness for Wingatui. That sprint must be getting close to group 3 status, topped by two Telegragh winners and quite a bit of depth. The NI fields are an embarrassment. Awapuni wasn't flash before the rain and appalling now. It does show the folly of the stakes distribution. That Manawatu meeting surely cannot justify $35,000 and $30,000 stakes for fields like that. How can it possibly be self funding? If it's working ,plus present strong wind, plus present 20C, plus no more rain(none forecast) = upgrade surely, and possibly more than once.
