Fartoomuch 1,376 Report post Posted November 28, 2018 Terribly bad luck for an extremely talented hoop. Only there due to jockey shortage and had ridden a winner earlier in the program before being dumped. Lets hope his spinal injuries can be overcome in some if not all ways
slam dunk 1,317 Report post Posted November 28, 2018 Is there anything out there that says these injuries are preventable. Is someone at fault? Still haven't seen anything on the Whangarei incident with Shafiq and Danielle. Was there anything that could have prevented Maija Vance's incident. Was the horse fully schooled? Was Maija fully qualified to ride over fences? Plenty of questions lets hope the officianados are doing their jobs. Simple answer is get rid of the riding vests.....ever since these were introduced as compulsory we have had neck/back injuries increase substantially resulting in riders finishing up in wheel chairs as well as deaths.....On the upside for OSH/ACC ETC.....broken collerbone figures are well down.....what a price to pay..... TurnipOrange 148 Report post Posted November 28, 2018 Fully agree safety vests prevent your spine from from arching when you fall, your back is so rigid and your neck takes the whole impact as your back cant move. Resulting in high neck breaks C3 C4. Your spine is meant to be flexible. They say they stop you from breaking your ribs, rather have a broken rib than a broken neck.Hoping the best for Tye napier and scooby3051
