How could you be so pathetic?  Seriously, I’m at a bar with 50% new punters, and they’re all disappointed.

and I got the tri . So I’m actually quite happy. Just embarrassed for our industry

Sitting at a bar with many many first time punters. Can’t get a bet on. Pathetic.

What are laughing fiasco, they try and give new account holders a  bonus for joining when they cant even cater for them, or existing customers. I am pleased my Betfair account is fully up and running with better odds and service

I was doing the selections at our golf club for the day,we were getting close but not getting a result,so went to place a bet of $200 to win on Sacred Judgement.

We had gone to the trouble of banking the money into a TAB account,so we wouldn't miss getting on. When the bet was placed the screen came up blank, so didn't know if the bet was confirmed and told the crowd who were getting updated with bets. They couldn't believe that this could happen and were justified with there outrage,

We didn't give up and gor 1.8% of the last Trifecta giving a $8.90 profit per $10 share.

The damage had been done and the TAB have lost a of respect and i would like to see John Allen come out and give the reasons why the crash happened and if it was out of the TAB control or was it the TAB ARE INCOMPETENT.

If it hadn't of crashed(and pigs fly) J Allen would be on every channel espousing and flailing his hands around telling us what a great team around him he has and what a marvellous job the NZRB are doing.

Sorry he needs to be held to account.

To be fair , as an industry we should have had put him on the spot , got a guarantee the system would not fail and if it did , see you later.

Most other industries on the planet , with these same disasters happening regularly, they would have been gone years ago.

Maybe an ultimatum over FOB never crashing or Boxing Day will be glitch free.

Why the f**k would you even consider opening new accounts on the :biggest" betting day of the year, see what happens, you're best and most loyal customers get shafted and the newbies , just go "wtf" pathetic

Midget they are totally INCOMPETENT.

About 5pm, the TAB said on Twitter: "Customers may experience some slowness when using our mobile app at the moment - everyone is trying to get their bets on!"

Hello it's the Melbourne Cup of course everyone is trying to get their bets on, most punter's leave putting their bets on until late when they are going to pubs or clubs to watch and bet, the track was heavy so astute punters would have waited until late in case of track upgrades and the tipsters on television drive late betting with updated information. This slowness or complete breakdown happens nearly every year so why wait until nearly start time to tweet that there might be slowness in placing your bets, start at 9:00am raceday and keep re-posting every hour 'please endeavour to place your bets early as possible as our system may experience some slowness'. A few minutes out and you post a message like that it's laughable. It would be like Hitler's General at the Battle Of The Bulge advising his Panza division to leave base & combat the US after his troops have been getting pummeled for hours.    Luckily the people who put out these joke twitter messages are only on minimum wages because that's all they deserve.

Any word from Allen yet? Can anyone remember the last year the website DIDN'T crash on Melbourne Cup day? Must be at least six years ago  by my reckoning. What about gormless Glenda the media guru? Presiding over yet another embarrassment. Outsource my ass. First step is get rid of these freeloaders because that is basically what they are.

Racing: TAB probes crash as punters fume

There is good and bad news for punters furious over the TAB's website crash on the biggest day of the season so far.

The good news is the TAB is committed to improving their online betting capacity as it becomes the platform more than 50 per cent of customers use.

The bad news is the system crash which left punters struggling to get late Pick6 bets on could well have come down to simple overloading, which obvd by crashes in recent years.

While the problems are understandable with so much betting traffic heading online, the reality is punters don't care about the TAB's problems, they simply want to get their bets on.

The Pick6 was guaranteed to $300,000 on Saturday and blew past $700,000 but one can only wonder what it would have reached without the website problems.

And disgruntled punters will also point to the end of the phonebet service which for many has compounded the problem, with only the very brave or experienced likely to even attempt taking a Pick6 using TouchTone.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2 years later and the only thing that has changed is NZRB staffing (bar phonebet) and salaries have got bigger not the system to handle betting.

If there is a relationship between clicks on the web site and crashes?  Why do they make it necessary sometimes to make an extra 10 or 20 click to get a fixed odds bet on.

Actually fixed odds is a misnomer as the odds at times alter 5 times in one minute. Each time requiring extra clicks or refreshes. Maybe when you refresh your screen it may be worse for the TAB as that maybe needs a new connection.
