residency for drug smuggler

Recommended Posts

A convicted drug smuggle from the Czech Republic has been granted residency. Also had a criminal record in The Czech Republic, something to do with the shooting and killing of a man.

Iain Lees Galloway our immigration Minister said he did'nt make the descision lightly.

All i can say is thank god we don't border some of those South American countries in the caravan on its way to the US because they would have the welcome mat out for them.

Labour’s crim-hugging extends to letting a lying, violent drug dealer get residency while still in prison

by CS

1540682173592.jpg?w=620&ssl=1

Iain Lees-Galloway should have stuck to filching press gallery booze, because he’s had a real ‘mare in allowing a lying, violent drug dealer get residency while still in prison: Quote:

A convicted drug smuggler has been handed an unprecedented get-out-of-jail card: instead of being deported after serving his prison sentence, the Government has granted him New Zealand residency.

Minister of Immigration Ian Lees-Galloway has made a special decision to grant the 37-year-old Czech national residency, even though he came to New Zealand on a false passport and is now serving time in Auckland South prison for importing drugs with a street value of $375,000.

Karel Sroubek fled to New Zealand with a friend’s passport in 2003. He claimed he was on the run from corrupt cops after witnessing a murder. Under the name Jan Antolik he built a new life as a businessman, a representative-level kickboxer, and a Hells Angels associate.

When the law caught up with him, he admitted his criminal ties in the Czech Republic – but he seemed unable to escape old habits with several brushes with NZ Police over the past 15 years.

Sroubek has faced several charges, relating to drugs and robbery. But was either acquitted or had his convictions overturned – until he was found guilty of using his drink importation business as a front to smuggle 5kg of MDMA, which is used to make the drug Ecstasy. He was jailed for five years and nine months.

He was refused parole last month: Parole Board panel convenor Judge Phil Gittos said he gave “evasive, long-winded and … in many respects manifestly untruthful” responses. End quote.

So, Labour has allowed residency for a violent, gang associate, drug dealer. They really are taking crim-hugging to whole new depths with this one.

Unbelievable decision. I don't see how this is right given the background information here.

What possible extenuating circumstances could give this approval...??

If a violent, drug dealing thug who came here on a false passport and who the parole board don't trust is good enough for NZ Residency we are playing a dangerous game. You would think we would have learnt that lesson after the criminal Dotcom fiasco.

COMMENT: Barry Soper:

The job of Immigration Minister isn't a sought-after portfolio. During the course of every three-year term of government there are always cases that pull at the heart strings, that make the minister and the government look callous and uncaring.

Then there are other cases where there's public anger, where the minister's seen as arrogant, aloof and beyond reproach as they hide behind the Immigration Act's "absolute discretion" clause where they're not required to give any explanation which on the face of it looks ridiculous.

That's certainly the case with a bloke who currently goes by the name of Karel Sroubek, a Czech national who came to this country more than a decade ago on a false passport and lied to Immigration. Despite having been found guilty he was discharged without conviction and was allowed to stay in the country.

Since then he's been associated with gangs and two years ago was jailed for almost six years for importing five kilograms of ecstasy. Most fair-minded people would say he was given his get out of jail card and when the cell door's finally unlocked on this one he should be sent packing.

Well that's not going to happen. Immigration Minister Iain Lees-Galloway has used "absolute discretion" to give Sroubek permanent residency when he's released.

On this one, the public deserve and have a right to an explanation. As pressure grew for information, it looked as though the minister was buckling, telling us that in the public interest we deserve more information - and then going on to tell us virtually nothing.

Sroubek essentially has to behave himself for five years after he gets out of jail, this is his last chance Lees-Galloway assured us, telling the prisoner in a letter he trusts he'll use the opportunity to make a positive contribution to New Zealand.

If Sroubek's life is in danger should he be sent back to the Czech Republic, as has been hinted at, we should be told.

So he's allowed to stay, although in prison because the Parole Board turned down his application to get out last month.

Yeah well, as the old saying goes, justice must not only be done, but must be seen to be done.

Tell that to the South African family who this year were sent packing after it was discovered their 15-year-old boy had a pre-existing kidney condition when they came here nine years earlier. The father, Steve Metzinger, who'd had legal advice not to declare the condition, said he'd pay for any medical costs, if only the family were allowed to stay.

Thirty thousand people signed a petition asking for compassion, but an exemption wasn't given and they were gone.

The law's an ass.

So , Children go but crims stay , amazing .

The law 'might' be an ass rdytdy but this minister certainly is , another labour govt disgrace , this immigration decision allowing this crim to stay is gutless , illogical and shameful .

Where is Peters in all this ? The bloke always banging on about Immigration, and "Quality over quantity", and getting the "best people into NZ" ? Not a bloody word. Quite happy for the other mob to take the flak, their Minister after all has given residency to this scumball.

Sroubek came here on a false passport and then got involved with gangs, violence and importing drugs. He wasn't looking for asylum and didn't ask for it. This bullshit story about being hunted and killed if he returned home is just that.

The Parole Board don't believe a word he says. So why does this Government and their "out of his depth" Minister ??

We must look like the softest touch out there......:rcf-clown::rcf-angry-2:

So Trump reads a statement about the caravan invasion and answers reporters questions for half an hour.

I notice the NZ deep state propaganda media  namely Stuff and NZ herald doesn't  even report on it because it doesn't suit the narrative of their globalists masters .

Control the media and you control the minds.

Disgusting

Probably because it was crap. The lying White House told reporters there would be a "new announcement on policy" in the statement

All they got was the same old claptrap regurgitated by this prick hell bent on dividing the country with his lies.

Didn't see the half hour interview but in general most of what Trump says or does has a subtle change/twist in it when reported here , example headline , TRUMP JOKE CAUSES WALKOUT , and a photo of Trump , at a glance Trumps upset an audience well in fact a so called comedian tried a Trump joke and the audience walked out on him  but the initial impression from the headline was Trump caused a walk out .

Now if Trump has done anything it's show who the true abusive , violent people in society are  , it's the lefty's who scream and shout and divide society , even here in NZ they are the one causing havoc in the streets , have you ever seen a right wing demonstration in NZ , I can't remember one and in the US and Britain  all we see is lefty's sulking in the streets because they can't get their way , there are going to be a heap of nervous breakdowns in the states if Trump hammers them again next week .

Wake up mate...there is only one divisive person causing chaos...and with any luck, the remaining sane ones will get out next week and vote.

I just don't believe Americans will stand for this rubbish...they are better than that.

If the crap we've seen and heard so far does not get the real Americans out in their millions to vote, nothing will. Trumps mob will certainly be out in force, but they are the minority, and from what I saw over there, many others are over the type of "morally bankrupt leadership" they are getting. America is better than that....and deserves better than that.

If Democrats have done their job, they should win back the House. Senate a different proposition.

Over 90 million people did not vote at the last election...let's see how many have woken up...

Sroubek decision made within an hour

by Christie

Jacinda.jpg?resize=620%2C350&ssl=1

Oh God. It gets worse and worse. While Jacinda was defending Ian Lees-Galloway’s decision to grant residency to drug dealer Karel Sroubek last week, she created the impression that she knew all about the case. She was obfuscating, for sure, but we were left with the impression that there was a lot of information that could not be revealed publicly – hence the ‘read between the lines’ scenario.

Well, it turns out that she found out about the decision in the same way as we all did… via the media.

Stuff  reports: quote.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern found out about Immigration Minister Iain Lees-Galloway’s decision to grant residency to Karel Sroubek in the media.

Ardern said her first reaction when finding out about it was to question the minister. end quote.

You might think so, prime minister. I couldn’t possibly comment. quote.

“What is unusual is some of the basis of the minister’s decision has been contradicted by other information in the public domain.”

It now makes sense to go back and work alongside immigration officials to determine what should have been available and if that affects the decision in this case, she said.

The decision for the courts and parole board were not made known to the Immigration Minister when they should have been, she added. end quote.

It gets even worse than that. While writing this article, I heard on the news that the immigration minister decided on Sroubek’s residency in less than an hour.

So what Jacinda said was garbage. It doesn’t matter how much information the minister is given if he’s going to just flick over it and make a decision on the hoof, does it? No wonder he hides behind pillars in Parliament. quote.

He also said he did not read the full file on the Czech drug smuggler, and instead “read the aspects of the file that I thought were necessary to make the decision that I made”.

Lees-Galloway was questioned by media about the time frame on Thursday. “So you read a whopping great file, you asked a whole bunch of questions and you made a massive decision in an hour,” a reporter said.

“That’s the job,” Lees-Galloway replied. end quote.
What a smug reply. No. That is not the job. The job of the immigration minister is to make careful and reasoned decisions about who gets to live in this country for the good of our society and the protection of our citizens.

We all believed that there were extenuating circumstances around the Srobek decision that even Jacinda knew about and supported. It turns out that he really is a wife beating, drug dealing gang associate who arrived here on a false passport and is facing extradition for crimes in his home country and Ian Lees-Galloway took less than an hour to review the file and let him stay.

It also turns out that Jacinda was lying to the media and knew nothing of the case because her immigration minister knew nothing about it either.

The arrogance is breathtaking. They get away with this sort of incompetence all the time. quote.

The minister said he took “much, much longer on this decision than I took on other decisions”.

However, he would not give an exact time frame on the usual length for such a decision. end quote.

I’m not sure why, but that statement from Lees-Galloway gives me no comfort. If an hour on a residency case of a convicted criminal is a long time for a ministerial decision, then clearly most similar decisions are done and dusted in minutes. That is simply not good enough.

So we had a minister for open and transparent government that hides meetings, and a minister that physically abused her staff.

We now have an immigration minister who makes residency decisions on difficult cases without due and proper consideration in a ridiculously short time frame. No wonder there are now serious calls for his head to roll.

We always said that this government’s talent pool was as shallow as a car park puddle in the middle of summer. Right now, it seems the even the car park puddle has more depth.
