Just about time to park the legs up and watch the best lead up races to Cup week you will ever see. Purdon's 3 starters in the big race are first 3 favs but Star Galleria looks certain to make a race of it if he is to be considered any chance in a few weeks time.

The pattern is historically also there for a few having quiet runs to maintain lower grade status for cup week as well. There the ones i like to identify.

Airpark looks an outstanding chance based on poor quality of this field and its unlucky run at Methven in higher graded race. I found the 3.20 very appealing

I got Bettor my Dreamz @4.50 last night,left Airpark Flyer til this morning and only got $2,60

Well FarTooMuch mate, todays big race to my mind has just thrown wide open the NZ Cup  gawd Machete made up some ground but he aint gunna get away with that in Nov, The Dream was consistent, but I dunno kinda seems like she's lackin some sting, Riedo has some searchin to do with Star Galleria, thoughts guys???

For what its worth its worth i thought both Star Galleria and Ultimate Machete went huge. Great cup prep races

Couldn’t disagree with you more Ohokaman.  Ultimate Machete, Tiger Tara, Dream About Me, Cruze Bromac , Chicago Bull all genuine open class horses with a chance. And 1 or 2 others that could surprise also.  Probably the most competitiveCup for years. True there is no standout like Laz. But last years cup wasn’t very exciting with Laz leading virtually  all of the way and not many moves from memory.  Any one of 7 or 8 could win it and it wouldn’t be surprising.  Best cup for years IMHO

Just hand timed from race video Ultimate Machetes last 800 m  52.97 . and he was held up for the majority of the home straight.  If he steps in the cup it will be a spectacle regardless of whether he wins

JJ, Machete's run was huge, he's got the goods if he steps (if he steps? gawd please let him step) and yup agree Galleria's run was good, personally reckon The Dream is better off a sit, just quietly that Eamon is a nifty customer.....guys, anyone know whats the haps with Jacks Legend? is he still in it?

The horse has gone huge after what can only be described as a farce of a start. Ozzie bookies not impressed as he's now at 5s

The Cup is looking to be another great event with 6 or 7 live winning  chances. Star Galleria went well enough and looks to be progressing.

Commiserations to Olivia Thornley. AS have first 5 home and she was on their 6th horse but finishes unplaced

A lot of roughies filling minor places yesterday making for some great exotics. AS team running first 5 and quinella in Flying Stakes were the exception, now there's a surprise

The horse that Terry's wife drove in a support race, Overarm, was  seen to be making ground strongly late and is my horse to follow once it gets a draw and weaker race

Nice bit of cut and pasting. Cup field is very even which will appeal to many from a punting perspective after Laz's performances in last 2 years. On a good day any one of 5 can run 3.56 and some better. You just have to find the one you like and get on.

I tend to be in your camp this year - lacks a superstar for me or absolute open class topliner.  And before anyone say's it - I do feel UM could become that - but he isn't yet.

That said it's an interesting line up - quite a few chances and a bit of drama to unfold yet in the lead up. I do see an Aussie win being highly likely unless Ultimate Machete can do things right on the day...

Ohoka mate, know what your sayin  I'm feelin yuh, but guess we gotta do with what we got on hand at present, and that's the thing......I have all faith in MarkP and AllStars and I reckon he'll get to grips with Machete, is he the new pretender to vacant throne? he's knockin gawd is he, guess we find out in Nov, DreamABMe is waving her cap, Fixer, Eamon, SGalleria, have all put their hands up, actually we got some serious racin comin up and should make for great viewing......

Shad mate, not sure in a 3200 Stand race that draw is a biggie.....

Its a bit like the RIU going to talk to Ozzie drivers pre the Cup and telling them the NZ whip rules. Wont make a bar of difference. Never been that fussed about Lamb's level of consistency re standing starts.The big race on Monday was a a shambles with at least 4 of them breaking at the start some of which had to be the result of the dithering going on.
