JJ Flash 2,114 Report post Posted September 15, 2018 Track Distance: 1386m Surface: Grass Best Bet(s) Race 6: (1) Awaytocullect Race 9: (7) Rachmaninov Best Value Bet Race 2: (6) Sounds Bettor Race 4: (12) Phoenix Arizona Early Quaddie R2-5 2,4,5,6/4,6,13,16/3,7,12/5,7,8,12 Late Quaddie R7-10 3,4,5,6,10,17/1,5,10,11/6,7,9,10/2,6,10,12 Race 1: 11.30 Selections: (1) Gold Chain, (7) Superfast Ninja, (8) Sunrise Spur, (14) Boyz Invasion Suggested bet: (1) Gold Chain Comments: (1) Gold Chain – looks on paper the hardest to beat here after her strong debut run when strongly supported on the fixed odds – barrier one from the stand can be a touch tricky but she looks classy and it’s tough to see her being beaten. Although we are on the grass and it’s a big field of maiden trotters so anything can happen. Runners you must include in your exotic bets are (7) Superfast Ninja & (8) Sunrise Spur – who have both been knocking on the door of late and usually both have good manners which will see them in the fight while (14) Boyz Invasion – is on debut here for the locals, Ricky May knows every blade of grass around this place and it wouldn’t surprise us to see him upsetting them. Ratings: 1/7/8/14/4/11/6 Race 2: 12.00pm Selections: (6) Sounds Bettor, (5) Wainui Creek, (2) Stately, (4) Betterthanspraying Suggested bet: (6) Sounds Bettor - Eachway Comments: (6) Sounds Bettor – begins like a rocket off the standing start which should see her in front here and the O’Reilly boys love picking up a winner at Methven. Out front out of danger gives this mare the chance to go bang at start 21. (5) Wainui Creek – has been going along nicely at the trials and workouts – well related filly and trained by Richard Aubrey who is often known for producing a handy type on debut. Watch the tote moves but he looks a leading chance. (2) Stately – couldn’t do it all last start and finished down the track but previous form was strong, standing start is a slight question mark but she’ll pick up a maiden win sometime while (4) Betterthanspraying – resumed with a good run, only going to improve off that run and rates a winnable chance here. Ratings: 6/5/2/4/10/12/15 Race 3: 12.30pm Selections: (4) Algranco Albyone, (6) Chatty Man, (13) Tabitha Franco, (16) Rollova Suggested bet: Boxed Quinella Comments: Couple of handy maidens here but (4) Algranco Albyone – goes on top from his good barrier draw – gate speed means he should be in front and giving Gavin Smith plenty of options, can stroll along and prove tough to run down here. (6) Chatty Man – had a bit of word around him last start and he nearly pulled off the upset – gate speed to be handy and he should suit the grass. (13) Tabitha Franco – has caught the eye in previous runs and should be suited to the grass for that man again, Ricky May. Locally trained – upset chance. (16) Rollova – disappointed connections when in a fresh state – gear changes but a tough draw here – expect him to be running on late. Ratings: 4/6/13/16/11/12/14/15 Race 4: 1.00pm Selections: (12) Phoenix Arizona, (7) Mongolian Spear, (3) My Mate Ben Suggested bet: (12) Phoenix Arizona - Eachway Comments: (12) Phoenix Arizona – caught the eye storming home late in the piece last start – stand suit and the grass should be right up his alley – value eachway chance. (7) Mongolian Spear – made a mistake on debut – stable must be respected and with manners tonight he’ll go close. (3) My Mate Ben – is from a good stable and Gavin Smith in the bike today – market watch is required from the front line here. Ratings: 12/7/3/16/13/6/8/3 Race 5: 1.32pm Selections: (8) Stella Success, (5) Amabede, (7) Future Queen, (12) Motu Great Sensation Suggested bet: (8) Stella Success - Place Comments: (8) Stella Success – looks to be a great place bet in a wide open and even trot field. Plenty here who just aren’t performing well enough of late to win but with her manners she should be in the fight and place money looks to be the safe money. (5) Amabede – wasn’t far away down south last time, manners here make him a winning chance while (7) Future Queen & (12) Motu Great Sensation – are both talented enough to pick up another win in this R40-50 grade. Ratings: 8/5/7/12/14/13/15/1 Race 6: 2.07pm Selections: (1) Awaytocullect, (11) Hurricane Banner, (6) Sounds Like A Gem, (5) I’m Jimmy James Suggested bet: (1) Awaytocullect - Win Comments: (1) Awaytocullect – one of the best bets of the day coming up here in my opinion. Back to the mobile and dropping in grade for this run. Held up late at Rangiora last start and we sighted him getting home strongly late in the piece. From the ace expect Olivia to use him out of the gate enough to hold a forward role and with his super grass track form he will take a power of beating. (11) Hurricane Banner – continues to be backed in the markets, long trip up – eachway claims. (6) Sounds Like A Gem – is in a fresh state but trialing nicely, can boom the gate here and be in a forward position while (5) I’m Jimmy James – is returning from a break and his workouts have just been okay. Has the ability but would rate as a blow out chance today. Ratings: 1/11/6/5/15/12/14 Race 7: 2.42pm – Matthew Peden Selects Selections: (10) Dundee Lady, (3) Christmas Toyboy, (6) Beau Vista, (5) Out Of Aces Suggested bet: (10) Dundee Lady - Eachway Comments: (10) Dundee Lady – will have greatly improved with the three runs under her belt with include a victory against race rival Beau Vista. Outside of the front tape is ideal for the standing start, value eachway chance. (3) Christmas Toyboy – handled the standing start last time out but disappointed a few when being run down in front – grass might take the speed out of them and help him. Eachway with a leading junior in the cart. (6) Beau Vista – caught the eye storming home last start into 2nd. Front row barrier draw today means he must be included. (5) Out Of Aces – should step to a handy spot from his front row barrier - he might lack that killer punch but he's got a pair of Kings which should take him close today. Ratings: 10/3/6/5/17/4/2/9 Race 8: 3.20pm Selections: (1) Airpark Flyer, (10) Baileys Knight, (5) Articulight Suggested bet: (1) Airpark Flyer - Eachway Comments: Can’t see any reason why (1) Airpark Flyer – couldn’t step up here and win again. His victory at Rangiora was dominate without pulling the plugs or the sliding blinds. Off the front tape here if he stepped quick and made the favourites work over the 2400m he could near win again. (10) Baileys Knight – is classy and his run last start was super, easing in grade here and the only trouble could be the 30m handicap. But he’s talented so with a clean run he’ll go close. (5) Articulight – has caught the eye at the trials and workouts of late, smart type now in a new barn – tote watch. Ratings: 1/10/5/11/6/4/8 Race 9: 3.55pm Selections: (7) Rachmaninov, (6) Missie Castleton, (9) Red Hot Rocket, (10) Gorilla Playboy Suggested bet: (7) Rachmaninov - Eachway Comments: Wide open trot field to work out here, the eachway value appears to be (7) Rachmaninov – who has returned from a spell in good order while (6) Missie Castleton, (9) Red Hot Rocket & (10) Gorilla Playboy – must all be included in exotic bets in this event. Ratings: 7/6/9/10/1/13 Race 10: 4.30pm Selections: (2) Selena Franco, (6) Nancy’s Boy, (10) Mr Midnight, (12) Quite Ideal Suggested bet: Boxed Quinella Comments: (2) Selena Franco – was strongly backed last start –drawn well here so must go into multiples. (6) Nancy’s Boy – will be well supported in the market after a good maiden victory – steps up in grade and a tricky draw to contend with. Eachway. (10) Mr Midnight – is drawn to follow the speed and with one last crack at them he can get a bit of this while (12) Quite Ideal – will have improved with the first up run, Matthew Williamson sticks with. Eachway Ratings: 2/6/10/12/14/13/8/
