Trump 2,741 Report post Posted September 4, 2018 Courtesy of Racenet for those who may have missed this! < The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) and Network Ten today announced a $100m media rights partnership deal with the five-year agreement effective from 2019 to 2023 representing the biggest in the history of the VRC, and one of the biggest in racing globally. The agreement entitles Network Ten to broadcast live the four days of the Melbourne Cup Carnival – AAMI Victoria Derby Day, Lexus Melbourne Cup Day, Kennedy Oaks Day, and Seppelt Wines Stakes Day. The agreement comprises a suite of Melbourne Cup Carnival media rights, including free to air TV, internet, social media, mobile, OTT (Over-The-Top) and HbbTV (Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV) within Australia. Network Ten has also agreed terms with Racing.com to provide live coverage of all races across the Melbourne Cup Carnival on its channels and the Racing.com app. The live vision streaming rights for Wagering Service Providers are excluded from the deal with Network Ten. Network Ten previously held the television rights to the Melbourne Cup Carnival for 24 years from 1978 until 2001. The Seven Network will remain the VRC’s broadcast partner for the 2018 Melbourne Cup Carnival. Outside Melbourne Cup Carnival, Group 1 racing from Flemington can continue to be viewed on the Seven Network until at least the end of June 2020.> AMAZING! $100m for 5 years! Phillipe 81 Report post Posted September 4, 2018 What’s amazing about it? So they produce a quality watchable product and people fall over themselves to watch it.. TV companies then make advertising revenues from the large audience, then they pay the racing clubs a good share of the profit.. We are doing the same here arn’t we? Surely we are? It seems such a simple formula. Let’s see... we have racing clubs, TV companies, advertisers, and nearly 5million people.. what the hell are we missing???? chevy86

Ohokaman 5,843 Report post Posted September 6, 2018 Grant Denyer to do the presenting...??! God help them. Knowing Ten it will be more about the fashions, B grade Celebs, and hawking whatever new drivel they are serving up. $5m a day for 20 days racing...??! They would want to get it right. slam dunk 1,317 Report post Posted September 6, 2018 Sometimes Australian TV coverage pre race is pathetic. Just watched a race from Gosford and as the preliminaries were starting the camera switches to the stable rep from Bjorn Baker. The guy would still be talking if you didn't stop him. After quite a while the camera then spent the next two minutes on the Baker horse's backside going to the start totally oblivios to any other. AS hot favourite the horse never really looked like winning. Local Trackside isn't so awefull after all. Insider

SD, we have 3 channels, Sky one takes the real time racing, Sky two lesser meetings like NZ once the Oz racing kicks in, and Sky central that gives a more in-depth coverage, as for BB, he and a few others are well off the mark in recent times, we also have Racing.COM......FREE TO AIR, !!!!......They do VIC and SA, Racing, birdcage interviews, after race with trainer and jock....so you see, we are well looked after......
