luvof courage 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2011 After the loss of a lovely filly and vet bills and loss of income from the sale of this filly, insurance is something I need to look into. Regards, Sue
MegL 5 Report post Posted January 20, 2011 We have also used NZ Bloodstock and Jardine. Pays to get quotes and to see who the underwriters are. If you are doing racehorses insurance is generally only agaist death and not "loss of use".
bustoharland 2 Report post Posted January 21, 2011 if your based in aus then use an aus firm such as inglis or gowgates otherwise you need to pay stampduty and taxes etc on your own and the aussies are as competitive with the nz firm, can only insure against death or euthanasia can insure up to twice the value of the service fee then simply get a vet certificate saying its healthy and your away spend alot of time getting quotes as the first quote will be significantly higher then what they will go to, ie if you get 10% less at gow gates - tell the inglis people whatntheyve quoted and they will beat it will cost around 5% of insured value, includes fees, taxes, stamp duty and then the premium they will all be underwritten by lloyds of london so it will take at least 24 hrs for each quote as they need to ask the underwriters
