Mattski 176 Report post Posted July 2, 2018 Couldn't believe that comment that as much (or more) was spent on promoting the Parker fight as the TAB spent on getting form & fields into the daily newspapers. No wonder our sport is going down the tubes here............ Patiti, gubellini, rdytdy and 3 others 5
We're Doomed 4,855 Report post Posted July 3, 2018 Who relies on daily newspapers for their form-guides? Who actually buys a paper except perhaps in the major centres. Papers hardly exist in the provinces anymore.
Ohokaman 5,824 Report post Posted July 3, 2018 Not sure that's true WD. The smaller towns and communities very much rely on their local newspapers for news, notices/activities, sports etc and they are usually the only advertising vehicle for the local businesses. Form guides maybe not so much..... napier and 47South

Chris Wood 1,576 Report post Posted July 3, 2018 Our local paper, The Waikato Times doesn’t even have the local Rugby Comp results or any game reports anymore! We are treated like second class citizens! bazach

Leggy 4,076 Report post Posted July 5, 2018 If you'd suggested 10 years ago that I would now be betting and watching 100 times more on golf and rugby than NZ racing, I'd have asked for some of what you were smoking. Sadly you are right. The racing codes have managed to turn a great wagering product to crap and rightly, the NZRB have turned the focus of their business to where the attractive product and the growth is. Fortunately for racing, they still get some benefit from that but it probably shouldn't be so and likely won't be so for much longer. Allow clubs to run their own betting pools with or without the TAB's cooperation. 2. Allow clubs to use products and services as prizes with their own betting marketing schemes. Currently there are a few hindrances in both the Gambling and Racing acts.
