The holiday is over for star pacers ULTIMATE MACHETE, SPANKEM and ALL U NEED IS FAITH, who have returned to work in the past week. All have been undergoing rest and recreation with a twice daily swim in the Waikato for some time, but now have a clean bill of health. Ultimate Machete would be rated at this stage as the stable's No 1 NZ Cup hope. He has not raced since his fourth in the Fremantle Cup in January. He came out of that race with a leg injury and he has recovered well. The winner of 12 of his 25 starts and over $800,000 he won the NZ Free for All last November. He also won the Golden Nugget (G1) on his Perth trip. Spankem is another possible NZ Cup hope. He has also been off the scene since January with a few issues but now fit and ready to go. The winner of the Sires Stakes Final at 2 and in the money in all the three year old features he contested he has only had 17 starts (5 wins 4 seconds) for nearly $250,000. All U Need is Faith is a hard-hitting staying type never far away in the tough races, sometimes after hard runs.
