.... 226 Report post Posted May 23, 2018 Zacinto has relocated to Valachi Down’s $15,000. Has made a super start at stud from a low fee and a South Island base with 5 stakeswinners already from only 50 or so starters. Do feel sorry for the South Island having recently lost 2 promising stallions in Zacinto and Highly Recommended that have made a super start from modest books. .... 226 Report post Posted May 23, 2018 War Decree has been announced to stand at Inglewood Stud as a replacement for Zacinto (Kevin Hickman heavily involved in the ownership also of this new stallion) A G2 and G3 winner by War Front out of a Street Cry mare, standing for $6,500 Good luck to them, hope he can have the same success Zacinto has given them. From the same very good female family as Postponed Lovely female line (Terlingua), War Decree's 5th dam (Chapel Of Dreams) is Postponed's 2nd dam from memory. War Decree was a very well performed 2yo that didn't really train on and wasn't of the standard required for the major races he was targeted towards (therefore his price), not training on has been a bit of a trait among the War Front progeny although in recent times Coolmore have had a bit of luck with his progeny as older horses (Declaration Of War, Roly Poly come to mind) Looks to have some nice credentials pedigree wise and race form wise and looks a nice type. We thought it was interesting marketing and some will take the opportunity but when you add up the costs until weaning it is not cheap! Maybe we should have not done the exercise as we now know where all our money goes :-) Also if you own the mare and the resulting foal lands up in China it is not helping her pedigree page. Has stated that some will end up in China and some in NZ so you would have to expect that, but to be fair if you are breeding at a level and hoping/relying on a $10,000 deal where you woudnt be making much profit at all you cant be picky, we are talking low level! Comparing Hong Kong International Listed form to Irish Group form i guess and I believe the new boy has a much better pedigree. I guess it means if they go to the Weanling sale they should at least have a $10k reserve on them instead of seeing them go for $500 , wouldn't be a bad deal if he was going to race them in Aus/NZ but they seem to disappear into oblivion when they head to China. Smart moves all round with bringing Zacinto up north and bringing War Darcee in with that pricing strategy. Seems a sustainable model. Likely to serve a handful of mares at most.

La Zip 468 Report post Posted May 29, 2018 Why would you bother? By all means send your own mares but with the owner/Breeder virtually out of commission, it just seems a waste of time and effort. I don't begrudge anyone willing to stand a stallion or send a mare to stud best of luck to them. No ones holding a gun to ya head to send a mare, sane was said about Eighth Wonder and many others , I kind of like this guy's pedigree admittedly it's gonna be hard work getting numbers. fitzy and Ruby 1
Breeder 599 Report post Posted May 30, 2018 The owners of Thunder Down Under have a suitable property to stand him at so what have they got to lose? If you look at the sale of Monaco Consul for about A$40k then TDU would not sell easily as a stallion in Australia and if he did, would not sell for much, based on MC's price. So as I say, they really have nothing to lose .
