Easter Handicap

11 posts in this topic

What you have got to remember is that the Easter Handicap was taken away from its traditional date so as to allow a proper flow of ALL race dates through the Autumn.

If it hadn’t happened, there wouldn’t be the “new” Auckland Cup & NZ Derby Carnival and the continuous jam-up and disruption to other race dates.

Oh, and the same decision was made in Sydney with the dropping of a fixed date (Easter) for their Doncaster/ Derby Carnival.

Why is now one moaning about that, other than me who liked to incorporate Easter weekend to attend the Donny/Derby meeting, as I didn’t have to take as much time off work!

It’s not that simple Liz, and you know it.

Firstly the NZ program changed when the sales shifted from Trentham.

Secondly AUCKLAND wanted a two carnival calendar that allowed three year olds to build over spring and summer then peak at the back end.

Thirdly, the Pattern Committee dictates the schedule and you know that.
