eljay 1,719 Report post Posted March 9, 2018 the alarms just gone off - time to stop nice fuzzy dreaming. Auckland is NOT in Cup week - there has never been a successful one in the North although it was tried and failed miserably. But I do like these two "gems" from your column in the Harnessed (Informant) But maybe it is time Alexandra Park thought about dropping out of Cup week all together" and (It is at least worth thinking about) because at the moment Alexandra Park during Cup week is not the star of their own show. Fartoomuch 1,376 Report post Posted March 9, 2018 He occasionally makes some good points and this is one of those moments. There is only 1 real cup week in NZ and that happens in the 2nd week in November in Christchurch. The 3 codes all hold their respective NZ Cups in the same week. Unfortunately since the Christchurch City Council has become involved in the so-called Cup and Show Week it has become a piss-up. Both Addington Cup Day, which should be for harness racing purists, and Riccarton Cup Day have been overrun by drunks and fashion fans. Real fans now prefer to watch on television.
