Big ups to my 'Ad Augusta' team-mates Cat, Casper, Tom and Wrinkles today.

It's all very well declaring that the Joker will be played and throwing in a bit of trash talk and nonsense ...but come the end of the day the team-mates need to step up to back up the  Captain's big mouth ...and wow ...Cat, Casper, Tom and Wrinkles sure did that in spades today. Special mention of a 'master-class' performance from Cat and a top performance again from Casper. Tom continues to be a constant danger and today defeated the opposition Captain, whilst Wrinkles is proving an absolute revelation winning I think his last 5 matches in succession, today against a very much in-form opponent in Sarah..

Hard luck today, 'The Dark Horses'. You're one of the big achievers in this comp, and though play didn't run your way today I'm sure you'll bounce back as strong as ever.

Special mention for the fantastic achievement of TC in maintaining his perfect winning record for his team - now 12 from 12 - unprecedented -and for Hesi who grabbed a vital win for his team in the last to see the Rubiks  snatch a last-gasp victory. Good also to see John and the Lay Down Mizeres on the rise and still in with a shot at the Championship Round.

Thanks for your scoring and updates today as always, PJ, very much appreciated. Glad that you fund a calculator big enough to cope with the Double AAs onslaught of points. :D. We'll savour the moment.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, folks. :)

Steve P is a hard man to get past and his come from behind today must put shivers up yr spine for nxt week.

LDM on the rise bigtime.

You're absolutely right, Rees, Steve P is one of the hardest competitors to beat. One of the main reasons we never considered playing our Joker against LDM.

On the face of it we'd be one of the last teams LDM would want to come up against in a 'must-win' match to keep your playoff hopes alive ... but on the other hand, it would be optimistic of us to think we could play so well in back-to-back matches, so you may have timed your match against us 'Ad Augusta' perfectly.

Looking forward to a top match, Rees.

Good luck !

as predicted by their erstwhile Captain

Hi PJ,

you had me scrambling for the dictionary to look up "erstwhile" and it says:

"synonyms: former, old, past, one-time, sometime, as was, ex-, late"

So has there been a coup  in the Ad Augusta team?
Was it for disciplinary reasons?
Who is the new Captain?
That would seem a bit tough after pulling off a 10 pointer. I know standards were high at Mt.Albert Grammar but that is taking it to the extreme!

Secondly, I appear to have drawn The Crucible for the second time in this competition. Did you not receive my lucky fluffy dice in the mail?

Haha Geoff ! I imagined Howie would be stepping aside after engineering the perfect score or demoted after the swabs came back positive......,.

The TC repeat encounter should be a beaut....

And you were of course all together with Saffron Lady !

Man was I pushing that 'Big Mike' the final 100m .... and I wasn't even on it.

Well done John and Lay Down Misere.  Inspired decision. Another one of those and you'll be looking at  a 5-pointer.

I'm thinking we're gonna need to rally.

Thankfully we've got a few long-shots in the arsenal.

It was a plan hatched out of desperation Howie.  We need two 5-0 wins to have any shot at making the big show (and even that might not be enough).  A 3-2 win wasn't going to cut it so we figured we needed some degree of uniformity in our selection.  We settled on almost complete uniformity (with a little bit of discretion).

Credit goes to Tony for hatching the plan and Steve P for that selection - he's our go to guy.

but still a long way to go - I'd quote Mr Wolf from Pulp Fiction but this is a family show

Absolutely admire the strategy, John and it will be a real coup for your team if you can indeed make the playoffs from where you were positioned.

And of course it's not just a matter of all landing on the same horses ....they have to be the right horses ....and be double-figure odds winners to be really successful. And you've played that brilliantly ...with appropriate acknowledgement to that pesky Steve P :D...one of the most successful selectors in recent PJ Comp history.
