Hi Peter, I think Wrinkles was on Redkirk Warrior as well.  Makes it pretty tough for LDM to win.  Looks like we need Frolic to win for Steve P.

To win:

The Lay Down Miseres need:

Frolic to win for Steve P (BB)

OR

Alizee to win for Tony

The Betza Grands need:
Sasso Corbaro to win for Betty (must pay $4.30 or Melody Belle complete the quinella)

OR

Sumookh to win for Robert

The Five No Triumps need:

Frolic to win for Ray (must pay $14.70 or Melody Belle complete the quinella)

The Rubiks can't win

Thank you John & Tony for alerting PJ to Wrinkles' success with Redkirk Warrior.

You are a very sporting team Lay Down Mizere. Top stuff.

Going to the wire here.

I'm off to put a few dollars on Frolic, enough to weigh it down in its endeavours. :D

Cheers Howie.  TC is putting a few dollars on Frolic as well.

Well done Howie and team AA - too good for us today.

Team LDM - a few bum steers from the skipper today.  On to next week!

Thanks John and team Lay Down Mizere. You guys are a top team and there'll be a lot of wins ahead for you in the coming weeks. This was a close match today that see-sawed back and forth. Fortunately for us Double AAs lady luck went our way the final two or three Aussie races, and we managed to come away with a much-needed win. Good team effort today Double AAs with special mention of Tom and Wrinkles with top wins in their individual matchups. Great stuff, fellas. I think we're starting to hit our straps now, and we can look forward to making our way steadily up the leaderboard in coming weeks. The team we had earmarked from Week 1 as our Joker play has done particularly well the past fortnight ...so it could be that a rethink is in order. Yes na...we'll go with the original plan. Watch this space....no, not the one between my ears. :D

Thanks for the scoring and updates today, PJ. Much appreciated .....even more so when we win. :)

ROUND 4

Race 10 - Randwick R8

1st - 3 Alizee W-$2.00

2nd - 13 Shumookh Q-$9.50

Scr: nil

2 Five No Trumps (2nd)

$1034.20

0 points

3 Mainly Dollarz (1st)

$1156.00

2 points

The FNT's only hope Frolic got way back and ran on late and wide but to no avail so the top dogs held on with final collects from TC (quinella), Brian and Jack. Final scorers for the Trumps were Rob (BB quinella), Ian and Redrum. Ian just edged team mate Steve for Man of the Match while Jill just headed Jack for Dollarz MVP. No bonus points were scored.

131.00 Rob

361.00  Jack

402.40 Ian

89.00 Brian

104.00 Redrum

374.40 Jill

396.80 Steve

0.00 Richie

0.00 Ray

331.60 The Crucible

1 The Rubiks* (4th)

$789.60

0 (x 2 Joker play) = 0 points

4 The Dark Horses (5th)

$1574.00

4 points

Cubes' Joker play proved disastrous (and I'm sure his team will be swabbed) but he can console himself with Man of the Match honours after his side were beaten with a race still to run. Their final collects came from Hesi (BB), Kloppite (quinella) and Geoff. The Dark Horses were the form side of the day and finished in style with all 5 on the winning fave in the last while Sarah added a BB quinella although she was just headed by Rosina (who unluckily faced Cubes) for MVP honours. The Dark Horses took bonus points for a team profit and the 4-1 margin.

108.00 Kloppite

381.00 Sarah

402.80 Cubes

388.20 Rosina

159.80 Hesi

338.60 Korio

46.00 Roland

261.80 Skelly

73.00 Geoff

204.40 Moose

1 The Betza Grand* (3rd)

$713.80

0 (x 2  Joker play) = 0 points

4 The Royle Family (7th)

$1191.40

3 points

Shumookh nearly stole it for the Betzas in the last but 2nd was her lot so the Royle's prevailed an added a bonus point for a 4-1 margin as Sharne got up to nail Grame with a BB (no love for Kauri Kat old mates !). Heather and Pam added their 4th winners of the day for the Royles in the last also. Final Betza collects came from Robert (with a BB quinella), PJ and Dave who was just edged for MVP honours by Captain Betty. Captain Pete was a majestic MVP for the Royles with the day's biggest tally.

53.00 Graeme

86.00 Sharne

126.00 PJ

659.40 Pete

148.00 Robert

189.00 Pam

194.00 Betty

257.00 Heather

192.80 Dave

0.00 Jen

2 Lay Down Mizere (6th)

$1014.20

0 points

3 Ad Augusta (8th)

$1073.40

2 points

LDM's big chance to turn it around in the last - Frolic - tried hard but found the 1200m a bit short this time in so the Ad Augustas scored a much needed win led by Man of the Match Tom. Gordy was MVP for the Miseres. Everyone bar Wrinkles got the final winner with BBs for Steve P, Rees and Catalano, while Tom snagged the quinella with John, Gordy and Howie landing BB quinellas. No bonus points were earned.

204.40 Tony

295.00 Wrinkles

232.00 Rees

159.80 Catalano

110.00 Steve P

312.80 Howie

197.80 John

20.00 Casper

270.00 Gordy

488.80 Tom

At least the after burner kicked in John, came home with a wet sail. Good scoring all round by the team , some of those totals would have normally won the day. Our secret weapon Steve P saving it up for our Joker Play. Can't wait, and I bet Steve can't wait either;).

Hopefully we are still with in striking distance, and the Joker will have us baying at the leaders heels.

Good days

Only 3 points off 3rd. Nothing in this game boys. Watch the changes after the winning Joker plays kick in in the next few weeks.  Miseres on the up.

You're absolutely right Rees ...after 4 rounds everyone is in with a shot. Testimony I believe to the success of the draft system that is working wonderfully well. Enables everyone to be well-invested in the comp week by week.

I think you’re onto it Brian big chance 5NT will play the big J against Alcohol Anonymous they look like they’re struggling in this WFA company and weather permitting The Dark Horses should be too good for their opponents

So those predictions should be spot on could be a couple of 10 pointers coming up

I like your scoring system Brian - dropping highest and lowest scores.  I think you should do it on matches won rather than dollar aggregate, and I think you should look a couple of weeks ahead rather than looking at this upcoming round in isolation.

The little table below shows the upcoming opponents for those teams who have yet to play their joker.

Using your system:

Royle family will save their joker until the final round (against LDM)

Five No Trumps may have a good matchup this week under your system, but I'm picking that, despite Ian's comments, he won't use their joker versus AA.  He will save it for Round 6 vs Dark Horses (even with their 2770 rating).

Ad Augusta will likewise save theirs for the Dark Horses.

Looks like Dark Horses will play theirs against LDM and this will be the only joker play in Round 5 and will continue the current trend - 3 joker plays, 3 losses.

Dark Horses too good for LDM . Bollocks. Dissect the individual games and we are odds on to upset and waste their Joker. Wwoooohooooo.

Take an uppercut Von
