Trump 2,741 Report post Posted October 14, 2017 The telecasts were fantastic. Free to Air on Channel 7. Fans even got an interview with Jason Derulo ! The commentary was fantastic. The C7 commentary Host was the great Bruce MacAvaney, probably the most knowlegable sports commentator in the World. His knowledge of a Racing is second to none. You can bet that after this spectacle, next years Everest meeting will be even bigger and better! Turny

Trump 2,741 Report post Posted October 14, 2017 Looking at the replay several times, I thought the big grey horse was stiff. Not the best ride and it's a shame Tommy Berry wasn't on him. He's not a rails horse and really needs to have clean air on the outside of the field. Flew over the last 50m but the winner too good on the day. 50 win no. 1 106 Report post Posted October 15, 2017 I thought Chataqua was a moral beaten. It has never won a race on the rail, if he pulls wide it can produce a amazing finish. Dumb ride.... gary1
Trump 2,741 Report post Posted October 15, 2017 I heard that the ATC, holders of the race, in the interests of racing, are contemplating holding The Everest on a Friday night, so as not to clash with Caul Guineas day (Four G1's) and thus allow the best Jockeys to ride at both meetings. That's why Chatauqua was on the rails - it was a pre-race plan. THE TORCH

I think the inter state competition is healthy too, it makes everyone lift their game, betting agencies, media, trainers, and the various carnivals, they compete, they improve, the punter benefits. That's true. V'Landys apparently got sick of playing second fiddle to Melbourne and the "apathy" in Sydney. This was the result. Trump 2,741 Report post Posted October 15, 2017 I might add, the crowd was reportedly the "largest crowd at Randwick this century", which is amazing when you consider Winx as a drawcard yet wasn't there! weasel57 429 Report post Posted October 19, 2017 Everest was indeed fab on all counts...the nxt logical question (since I am such a logical thinker ..?) is.. why not crank one up in NZ? Even give it a Kiwi twist..my suggestion is play to our strengths by making it a 2000m WFA race or 2400m handicap. Limit field to 12. (eg)..perhaps only Kiwi breds can run... open to all suggestions from the cognoscenti on Race Café... THE TORCH
Trump 2,741 Report post Posted October 19, 2017 A mate of mine went to the Everest meeting and chatting to him after, he told me that a stubbie of beer cost $5 and he was able to buy a bottle (750ml) of Penfolds 2004 St Henri for $125. That's cheap for a big race day, especially the St Henri. THE TORCH
