Add to the mix Bloomfook got swabbed this morning.

A PR stint if ever it is.

Why wasn't he tested months ago?

Ditto all those calling the shots?

Would there be another lockdown if it was a family from Remuera or Fendalton?

Not damn likely.

Wait for the it's a dark skinned family from South Auckland living in a cold damp old mouldy home without heating.

We want to know if this family have all stayed at home & inside & didn't get out playing & exercising in the fresh air & sunshine when we first were told to go into lockdown in March.

Some more facts including if they  are from a smoke / imitation tobacco home, what their eating habits are like etc.

Remember there was a case out South Auckland involving a Samoan woman who was in Middlemore Hospital when we first went into lockdown?

What other "Pre existing health conditions" did she have?

It's madness & "disproportionate" to lockdown a whole city bc a family of 4 who have gone about their ordinary working life when we don't lockdown if people get influenza or pneumonia.

What the hell are the "odds" offered by the TAB that we have ever crossed paths or been exposed to this family, or close contacts of them ?

Doesn't one have to be in "close contact for at least 15 minutes" to be potentially exposed to someone with Coronavirus?

Roll on election to get rid of these dunderhead "public health" pigs with snouts in troughs who are failing to adhere to our basic Human Rights.

They need locking up themselves for ignorance of Laws.

A bit selective from your post I know BUT try this What say this is a bus driver who has been transporting people from arrival to isolation NONE OF THESE DRIVERS ARE TESTED .

Then his day job , his ordinary every day travel around Auckland it's just a theory but it fits the need to shut down Auckland .

F THIS IS THE LAST STRAW this so called government has failed at EVERYTHING and to anyone out there who is voting for cindy please tell me something important that they have succeeded at , that's a tough challenge you will struggle to come up with anything

Borders closed should have meant borders CLOSED. Sure, the four positives now haven't travelled but we've had regular positives from overseas almost on a daily basis and there are apparently still an average of 700 people arriving here daily. Where's Donald Trump when you need him. Build a wall around Auckland.

@tripple alliance

No worries about bus drivers doing AT driving of buses spreading Covid as they are refusing cash/ notes & now have a plastic card on the money dish to say HOPCARDS only.

AT & Health Minister/ Ministry of Health have community contact tracing already in place as automatically track all the follow the leaders...

Guess they will be tapping off access to front of bus entry so poor patrons have to enter through backdoor only.

No wonder the country is in financial ruin.

Reminder, Grant Robertson's father was an accountant & got away with fraud for 10 yrs & got jailed.

It's a known fact there's intergenerational behavioural issues within families that are not always positive....

It's time for insiders to speak up & hold these idiots who thinks William GATES is our National bank to account...

How long has he been funding our universities?

btw, do you recall Marilyn WARING, former Labour MP?

She got a mention in Melinda GATES book.... Read Melinda's Wikipedia page... The rot goes back years.

It’s very ironic that Jacinta quotes figures for Covid-19 cases for “Australia”, when in fact, nearly all of the new cases are confined to one Labour led basket case - VICTORIA, a State with a larger population by about 1mill than NZ!  She’s very selective in using stats to pursue her Agenda. So don’t be fooled by her selective use of the facts. I was sitting in the Stands at Doomben last Sat with a crowd, followed up by a restaurant visit sat night. Something they can’t do in Victoria. So what Cindy going to say about that? It’s odds on she is making decisions that indicate a postal vote election. The question is, “Will Kiwis cop it?”. To lock down NZ ‘S largest City because 4 people in one house have The Coronavirus will be regarded by Many NZ’ers as bizarre.

The NIH, CDC, Princeton University and the National institute for allergy and diseases document Studies relating to Survival of the so called Sars and Sars Cov2 antigen on Surfaces, the information and every other Discovery relating to this and Covid 19 is updated on the New England Medical journals site, a site which Mike Baker frequents so why are they entertaining the idea of survival in cool store containment 🤔

Did She Let the Cat Out of the Bag?

By CS

At the beginning of the adjournment debate the Prime Minister made a mistake…or did she?

She opened with:

I move, That the House do now adjourn until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, 18 August 2020.

That never made sense especially if you look at the proposed timetable for conducting the General Election. But there it is in the video, and in the Hansard.

Parliament’s website has an interactive timetable for events leading up to the election. As you can see 18 August 2020 is nowhere to be seen on the timetable. It isn’t a key date or an event leading up to the election.

Screen-Shot-2020-08-12-at-9.10.10-PM.png

As you already know the dissolution day has already elapsed and has been tentatively postponed to Monday, 17 August 2020.

Her statement makes no sense, even as a malapropism. August certainly doesn’t sound like September, October or November, so it is unlikely it was simply the wrong month.

But it makes perfect sense if you are planning on recalling parliament in order to obtain the super majority (75%) needed for the election date to now be postponed.

So did the Prime Minister make a mistake, or did she let the cat out of the bag?

If she let the cat out of the bag, then that raises many more questions. Like:

How long has this lockdown been in the planning?

It certainly looks like at least since the drafting of her speech, last Thursday. A full five days before she has declared she knew about community transmission.

How long is the lockdown planned for?

Well, if it is longer than a few weeks then that will materially affect the election campaign process.

Why isn’t the government being transparent about all this?

You know the reason, they are quite simply deceitful. They’ve lied to us about the legality of the original lockdown, they’ve lied to us about the flu vaccine, they’ve lied to us about testing, and now it appears they’ve lied to us about this lockdown.

We do need to delay the election, and when the economic storm hits then the government is going to be decimated. Already their performance in protecting us is under the cosh, the only way this virus can have come back is because of their failure at the border.

Let’s see the Prime Minister explain this one away.

Hang on a Minute, Didn’t You Say This Was the COVID Election?

By CS

acinda Ardern used her second press conference yesterday to criticise the Opposition for daring to ask valid questions about her and her government’s decisions.

We are currently in what is traditionally a period where governments must not make major decisions without consulting with Opposition parties.

Locking down 30% of the population, and promulgating health orders which mandate people installing spyware to report on their movements would be such a major decision.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is calling for 'at least some unity' after attacks from the Opposition over the new Covid-19 outbreaks in the community.

'There should not be politics in this,' she said this afternoon, suggesting National was 'politicking'.

— Jason Walls (@Jasonwalls92) August 12, 2020

There should not be any politicking?

Hang on a minute there. Didn’t she declare this election to be the COVID election?

Didn’t she spend more than half of her show piece speech at the campaign launch talking about the COVID response?

It would appear that politicking is only wrong when the Opposition do it.

Apparently the new definition of politicking, according to Jacinda is  ‘Anyone who criticises Jacinda’.

She said earlier that it was totally unconstructive for people to ask questions about what she knew and when, and basically we should all just shut up and obey.

She declared that we had eliminated the virus, and yes she did say that;

“We are confident we have eliminated transmission of the virus in New Zealand for now, but elimination is not a point in time, it is a sustained effort.”

She even sickeningly told us all she had a dance for joy at the news we had eliminated the virus.

SonovaMin-little-dance.jpg?resize=630%2C The BFD. Cartoon credit SonovaMin

We were getting back to normality. Her government had just one job, and that was to keep the virus out. Given that we were isolated from the world and had, in her words, eliminated the virus, then the ONLY way that this virus could rear its head again was through the borders.

And pray tell who was in charge of that?

That’s right, she was. That’s why she called in the Army. Remember that?

That was to ensure we were protected. Well, they failed. And that failure can only have been at the border.

The BFD. Source:National Party’s Meme Working Group

You can’t take the credit for all the good times then blame others when there are failures, and this reemergence is a failure using the Prime Minister’s own high standards.

The virus is now in the wild in deep South Auckland, good luck containing that. It makes you wonder how many of the folk from South Auckland, bused in for Labour’s campaign launch, reside in the very same suburbs where the family of four come from. Two days ago they were living in a virus free country and now they live in a locked down city.

So, excuse me, if in this COVID election, in a campaign she made about COVID, if we don’t get as political about things and decisions she’s made.

This is on them, and they can moan all they like about politicking, but they made it all about COVID, so they must take their lumps.

If you didn’t want politicking then you shouldn’t have made your campaign strategy all about COVID.

Suck it up sweetie, it’s about to get real.

Why We Can’t Keep Going Into Lockdown

By

Christie

his was going to be a boring little article about the government’s new rules about provisional tax penalties. I was going to recommend you read it after 11.00 tonight, particularly if you are having trouble sleeping. But I am going to have to leave that for another day (bet you can’t wait) because I am just so bloody angry right now. We are facing the likely prospect of another lockdown, and it just isn’t right.

When Jacinda announced the lockdown in March, she said that, if we do this once and get it right, we will do less damage to the economy in the long run. I agreed with that. It made sense. But it only made sense if we got it right the first time. One lockdown. That’s it.

So, when she announced a Level 3 lockdown for Auckland and Level 2 for the rest of the country on Tuesday night, she tried the same line again, claiming it will be ‘best for the economy’ if we do this again. But she is wrong. John Key was right; the economy is just ‘not her thing’. She has no idea.

Many businesses in New Zealand, other than tourist outlets and ice-cream manufacturers, struggle in the summer months. This is when people are on holiday and business is generally low. It’s okay. Those businesses know it is going to happen, and they make provision for it. But this year was different. Having survived January, we went into Level 4 lockdown in late March. It is hard to survive when three of the first five months of the year produce little or no income, but thanks to wage subsidies and rent holidays from generous landlords, survive they did. Once we were at Level 2 and then Level 1, many businesses saw a big upturn in revenue, which compensated in part for the dry months earlier in the year.

But the problem was, we all thought it was over. We had done it. We could now go back to living life (mostly) to the full.

We were warned to expect more cases, but we expected them to be managed differently. We expected the testing and contact tracing systems to work, that those with the virus would be quarantined and the rest of the country would continue life as before.

We never expected the country to be back at Level 2 and Auckland to be at Level 3 in August over a mere 4 cases.

This is the slap in the face that the economy really doesn’t need; Auckland in particular.

The problem is the uncertainty. Business hates uncertainty. Markets hate uncertainly. Today it feels as if we are caught in a witches’ curse; that we will be going in and out of lockdown for the next hundred years.

Imagine if you are an Auckland hairdresser. You had low revenue in January, and went into lockdown in March, until mid-May. All those people with cancelled appointments represent revenue you will never get back; clients will come for one haircut, having missed the last two months’ appointments. But you made it through the worst, and have most of your clientele back again. Still, your income for the year is down by about 20% on the previous year. Now you are back in lockdown. You have to start cancelling appointments again, and you have no idea how long this will go on for. This means your total income for the year is going to be down by… who knows. 25%? 30%? This time, there are no more wage subsidies and no rent holidays. Are you going to survive? Good question.

The second tranche of wage subsidies is still available. Many businesses that didn’t apply for it before will do so now. That is more taxpayers’ money that we don’t have, being spent. But it is all about survival now.

What if you build houses? In March, you may have had 5 houses on the go, all at various stages, and because the owners have signed contracts, lockdown simply means the completion dates will be delayed. Okay, so no big deal, you might say. But builders lost 2 months of revenue too. In the 12 month period, they only managed to work 10 months, so another likely drop of about 20% in revenue. But how many people who have been contemplating building a house will now decide not to go ahead. There’s that uncertainty again. Will I have a job after a second lockdown? Will we be able to afford the mortgage? Will we go into lockdown again? Uncertainty is a nasty, insidious thing. After two months of lockdown, uncertainty is the worst thing for the economy that could possibly happen.

Groundhog Day. Oh God. Today there are long queues at supermarkets, with people standing 2 metres apart. Everyone is buying toilet paper. You promised yourself you wouldn’t; you still have toilet paper left over from panic buying in March. But what if it sells out? What if you can’t get any? So you buy it. You know you shouldn’t, you promised yourself you wouldn’t, but it is human nature. We all do it. It all feels familiar, like a pair of old slippers. But it isn’t normal and it shouldn’t feel like it… what do they call it? Stockholm syndrome?

How many events will have to be cancelled between Wednesday and Friday? I know someone who was travelling to Auckland from Wellington for a concert this Friday. Flights, accommodation and concert tickets all paid for. What happens now? What about sports events? Conferences? Weddings? Will sponsors now close the door on these events because of the uncertainty? Will we go back to empty stadiums with cardboard cutouts? All because of 4 new cases?

We were going to exploit our COVID-free status by bringing in cricketers, other sportspeople, games, events… that all just went out of the window. No one believes this will be over in 3 days. We are being softened up. It just isn’t possible.

Luke-The_BFD-Jacinda-no-plan-B.jpg?resiz The BFD. Photoshopped image credit Luke

Those who said the government had no Plan B were right. There is no Plan B. There was never even a Plan A when it came to dealing with more cases. It is just more of the same. Wash your hands, be kind and lock yourself down. That’s it. That is all there is.

I was talking to a client yesterday who said that things had just about got back to normal for him, 3 months after lockdown. How is he going to fare now? There are others like that too: they had no income for 2 months and then reduced income for the next 3. That is almost half of the year, and now they are right back into it.

Other countries have locked down more than once, but for most of them, their first lockdown was nowhere near as comprehensive as ours. Australia never went beyond our Level 3, and the UK tried the herd immunity route before backtracking rapidly when the prime minister caught the virus. But nobody has locked down for 2 months and still failed. It proves our approach was the wrong one all along. We were never going to eliminate the virus.

Now we are back to square one, with community cases, and the economy in tatters. We almost did it. We almost eradicated the virus and recovered the economy. We were almost there. Except, we didn’t. And the economy is not going to survive another onslaught like the last one. We are in big trouble. More debt, more quantitative easing… this is our economic plan now, with trillions of debt and no end in sight.

And all of this for just 4 cases. It won’t be just 4 cases though, will it?

Prison Ship New Zealand: Return to Lockdown

It’s a None-Too-Elaborate Election-Winning Ploy

By Edward Persimmon

It was said that the New Zealand public won’t accept another lockdown, and here we are with Auckland back in lockdown. As night follows day, other regions will revert to curfew too.

Like a case of Stockholm Syndrome, where the abused bond with their abusers, we the people never seem to tire of it. We are the beaten woman returning to the drugged-up boyfriend, the hostage snuggling up to the kidnapping assailants.

The PM appeared on television on Tuesday night in a stage-managed set-piece with Labour’s Little Helper, the ever-willing and compliant ‘enabler’, Dr Ashley Bloomfield. Together, they have closed the cabaret and fired the chorus. Who would have thought that there’s an election in five weeks?

The PM is ‘back in control’ and able to do what she does best: scripted twice-daily media presentations, which will keep her front and centre of the nation’s bedazzled collective mind. We won’t be able to think of anything else. We won’t be presented with anything else other than alarmism and its antidote – Mother Jacinda’s breast milk.

Cindy-and-team-NZ-The_BFD-Luke-Jacinda-t The BFD. Jacinda and Team NZ. Photoshopped image credit Luke

As the government’s warnings scream out for Armageddon across the mobile phone networks, only She can protect us.

A number of nations have staged elections during COVID. Singapore recently did. There were no surprises there. Thanks to favourable terms, the long-term incumbent is always returned. What was noteworthy, however, was that some of the strongest and most experienced opposition candidates, such as Tan Cheng Bock, didn’t make the cut.

This can only be due to the sitting government’s perceived ‘good handling’ of the pandemic, coupled with a fear of change in troubled times.

Will the same happen here? Coronavirus ‘management’ is our government’s election-winning strategy. None of its other policies have worked. And most are so bad they are embarrassing.

Thankfully for Labour, the socialist ‘antidote’ to a medical pandemic is the same as its ‘antidote’ for the economy, that is – to centrally plan and fund all activity, and extend to everyone a paid holiday, allowing them to sit around at home doing nothing. And believe me, sitting at home on a wage subsidy, writing emails all day, is the equivalent of doing nothing.

This strategy is hugely popular with the general populace and works well for a time until those in control run out of other people’s money. That’s when it hurts, and that’s when it becomes somebody else’s problem. That is, in fact, when National gets voted back in. And that is when it’s already too late.

We do not need another lockdown. All the evidence suggests that lockdowns don’t work. As a geographically isolated country, we cannot continue to ‘protect the vulnerable’ by imprisoning the population indefinitely and cancelling our economy.

prison_ship_by_sketchshido_d6plm03-fullv The BFD. Illustration Prison Ship by https://www.deviantart.com/sketchshido

Miss Ardern is on record as saying that the ’team of five million’ beat COVID-19. What patronising nonsense. We are not one team, and we didn’t ‘beat’ anything. The best that we have been able to do is delay the virus’s inevitable onslaught.

This has been at the considerable cost of raising the national debt to more than $100,000 per family by 2024 – a fiscal mountain we can’t possibly climb down from.

The government has recently been on the hunt for COVID cases in order to justify new draconian measures. Until recently, our testing regime within the general population has been woeful. We have absolutely no idea whether our ‘100 days without coronavirus’ is due to its arrest at the borders, or positive tests returning a faulty negative result, or whether the flu-like illness has been with us undetected all along.

Suddenly Ashley Bloomfield, ‘leading by example’, took a test. Then, as if by magic, the Bloomfield groupies began taking tests, and ‘next minute’ we have community transmission – the very thing which Labour needs if it is to set the terms of the COVID election and win it.

Suddenly, and in addition to the other ignominies, we all have to wear face nappies. It’s very important that all community interaction is once again brought to a halt, and terror struck in the hearts of the masses. It’s critical that the ‘new normal’ be re-imposed by the most overt and heavy-handed means possible. This is the smiling face of Jacinda’s new tyranny.

Wibble-The_BFD-Jacinda-Compulsory-Mask.j The BFD. Photoshopped image credit Wibble.

And it’s based on a lie. Our government’s reaction to the pandemic, arrived at through globalist ‘consensus’, has been out of all proportion to the seriousness of the illness. The risk to the young, the fit and the healthy is negligible; the risk to the elderly, obese and infirm more severe.

Even if it were severe in all cases, we need to accept that there’s little we can do about it, and that we face an opposite and greater threat to livelihoods and to liberty by suspending ordinary life for an indefinite period.

What the PM should have done, but didn’t, is use the time since the last lockdown to address our failing and inadequate health service. We should, by now, have more ICU beds and staff, but we don’t.

She could have expanded the private sector’s role in healthcare by making COVID treatable in private facilities, and by making private health insurance tax-deductible. But she didn’t.

She should have come up with ways to protect those amongst the elderly and vulnerable who want to be shielded and helped. Although not all do. Opting out is fine, but what about those who understand the risks and want to opt-in to normal life?

A strong leader is one who makes a tough decision and stands by it. A weak leader panics and follows the crowd. A duplicitous and immoral leader encourages crisis at an opportune time and exploits it for personal gain. Which one are you, Prime Minister? Which one are you?
