The earlier this election the better for Cindy.... unless of course the ‘testing’ starts throwing up false positives to restrict us more before the  reality can start setting in ...seems to be alot of fools being polled :rcf-thinking:

People tend to mix with like minded people. Your little bubble probably all agrees with you gruff. "Everybody I talk to reckons Jacinda"s done this all wrong" you say. "Yes, I agree with you" says your friend. "So do I" says your other friend.

Doesnt mean the other 4,999,997 people in New Zealand think anything like you.....

A Country of Compliant Children

By JC

This country needs to grow up. We might be led by a PM who treats us like children but that doesn’t mean we all have to become children. People need to wake up to the game Ardern is playing. Every person who thinks her BS rules are necessary is a pawn in her game of control in order to implement her Marxist agenda. We are being painted a picture which is a million miles away from truth and reality.

It is quite distressing to realise just how many presumably sensible adults have been taken in by Ardern’s communist agenda, apparently without realising it. What other reason can there be for people showing such compliance to such a nonsense set of rules. There are fewer than five million of us in this place. A good portion of the country is uninhabited. Apart from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, we live in a series of Jacinda’s bubbles.

Yet, here we are, bowing down to her every inane instruction as if she were Xi Jinping or Kim Jong-un. There are similarities, I admit, both in political thought and actions. Those obeying her every word are unwittingly allowing this country to be taken this down a very dangerous and economically destructive path. This is the path of state control, where the Government rules most of our daily lives. The Government has a stake in most of the larger companies, so they do not fall over. Those on welfare are totally dependent on the Government, and there will be plenty of them.

Fletcher’s are laying off one thousand of their staff. Jacinda will love hearing this as there’s another thousand on welfare dependency. Will the Government step in to save the company? It wouldn’t surprise me because this is all part of the plan. The Fletcher layoffs are just the beginning of what’s to come.

We cannot allow this country to be continued to be ruled in this way. This is the salient point. In a democracy you are governed. In a dictatorship you are ruled. Which is where we are right now. The business of the wage subsidy being about saving jobs is a smokescreen. Workers can’t exist on that and neither can employers keep topping it up. The result is companies go out of business or workers get laid off. Either way suits Ardern because, at the end of the day, it’s the Government who steps in. More control.

Matt King, the National MP for Northland took the silly law into his own hands and had his photo in the media standing with about six others, including staff, at a restaurant in Paihia. Shock horror! They were not observing social distancing which Matt quite rightly describes as BS. He was told there were no longer any roadblocks in his electorate. To make sure he drove north and found one where he was threatened with violence if he went further.

WAKE UP NEW ZEALAND!! This is what is going on in our so-called democracy and we are allowing it to happen. This blind adherence to a foreign doctrine being forced upon us is not the Kiwi way. I thought this country stood for democracy, for freedom of speech, for a unique way of life, for the respect of each other and for the personal choices to achieve in life. This is all being taken away in front of our very eyes. These seemingly petty rules we are all going along with are taking us to a pretty nasty place. We have been deliberately scared witless.

This is not the country I grew up in and it is not the sort of country I want to live in. Anyone who thinks that the PM in charge is God’s gift to this country needs to sit up and pay attention. We are told we are a long way from going into level one. Of course, we are. Mass gatherings could be extended by ten per week. Big announcement on Monday. Anyone who can’t see this is nothing but control needs to accept that their grey matter has gone AWOL!

If this woman gets re-elected, this country will never be the same again. God help us and as of the moment, God help the National Party.

Furthermore LJ, at 59% in the polls I'd say the only way from there is down. It's up to  the Nats as to how far. Muller hasn't filled a ministerial spot as yet but then neither had John Key or Jacinda. I'd say its game on.

A great day for the Nat's , 12 months ago I struggled to understand why Muller wasn't a leadership contender , he's a brilliant speaker , you didn't see that today , he's got it .

Today he showed why comrade cindy is in trouble , a crafty first speech which upset no one , he complemented cindy on the virus situation then pointed out how effin useless those behind her are , failure after failure , , housing , rail , child poverty , homeless , and housing .

If you think the Nats have no chance , think again , the latest poll shows the greens and Winston are gone which means a two horse race , A race which will be held when the full effects of cindys bans are for all to see .  The choice will be comrade cindy and her band of incompetents or a large group of successful people who know what they are doing .

National are in with a big chance especially with Act polling well , potentially 5 seats .

If you are sceptical about Nationals chances , just remember Scott Morrison , I  picked him to win as well .

Muller has no issue with giving our Taxpayer dollars to the UN so they can stop the Green Algae growing near a Penguin population :rcf-thinking:, but he did state he would use our natural resources to improve our balance sheet :rcf-thinking-1: Once September comes the new reality has Muller as the new Leader and Adern gets her position in the UN

Always a danger shodsie , he did work on the zero carbon agreement so he had the potential to be a  lefty wearing a blue suit . The result of that work shows he's a realist and a shrewd negotiator .

The full national opposition endorsed the agreement as did federated farmers so what ever he did he got it right . If we want to sell our goods overseas we must put on a show and that's what national did .

" Muller has been staunchly opposed to any suggestion New Zealand should climb down from "peak cow".

He has championed an approach of waiting for technology to reduce methane from livestock's bellies, a solution that's being heavily researched, but isn't yet available to farmers.

Muller fought to keep agriculture out of the Emissions Trading Scheme and pressed to lower methane reduction targets." Last year, he spoke out against declaring a climate emergency as "virtue signalling".

Muller was enthusiastic about water storage, calling water "the oil of the 21st century, if you will, and we have it." (BRILLIANT and logical )

This guy will very quickly fly in the polls  , watch the lefty's go into panic mode , his first TV interviews have been impressive .

Realistic view Ohokaman , the Nats were consistently on 40% in the polls prior to the virus even thou bridges was at beat 12% , both the virus and bridges will be  well gone before the next election so it's a new world with a huge improvement for the Nats . This guy  is already showing great promise and it hasn't been 24 hours  , here's a master stroke , he will be the minister for small business , the group  comrade cindy has shown no respect or understanding for , they will love this .

Modern Socialism

Jacinda Ardern Is Transforming New Zealand into a Socialist State.

Dr Muriel Newman
nzcpr.com

In his weekly newspaper column, Dr Steve Elers, a senior lecturer in journalism at Massey University explains the importance of recognising the underlying philosophy that drives those who are running our country. He says:

“We would be fools to believe political decisions are primarily evidence based. Given we are facing what is likely to be many years of economic turmoil and hardship, the political ideology of our Government needs to be laid bare so we can gain insights into what a post-Covid-19 New Zealand economy might look like.”

Since Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern plays such a pivotal role in this Government, Dr Elers believes understanding what motivates her will help us to better appreciate the direction in which she is taking New Zealand:

“It’s a fair assumption to suggest that at the time of entering Parliament, an MP’s political views and beliefs are set and are the motivation to enter politics in the first place. Accordingly, to understand Ardern’s political ideology it is important to revisit 2008, when she entered Parliament as a Labour list-MP.”

He explains that it was in 2008 that Jacinda Ardern was elected president of the International Union of Socialist Youth, a movement whose purpose is to “defend and spread core socialist principles”.

In early 2009, just two months after becoming an MP, she presided over the union’s World Council annual meeting in her capacity as president. At that meeting attendees discussed “progressive answers to the financial crisis”.

Dr Elers wonders whether those answers might be guiding us through this post-COVID-19 period:

“So, what ‘progressive answers to the financial crisis’ did Ardern and her comrades come up with? (I have used ‘comrade’ because it is how union members referred to themselves throughout the 2009 meeting.) Did they propose ideas that would stimulate the economy so businesses could thrive thereby creating job opportunities?

“Not quite. Instead, Ardern and her comrades stated: ‘Redistribution will lead to more financial stability and justice. As IUSY we struggle for redistribution between the poor and the rich, because we believe in equality and justice… Human beings are born with unequal resources available. We as young socialists believe in a social democratic system which secures a redistribution of resources’.”

Dr Elers concludes, “Ardern and her comrades think it’s best that everyone is equal and this is achieved through securing a ‘redistribution of resources’.”

It is this redistribution agenda to achieve equality that is likely to underpin the Government’s recovery plan. There is no doubt the mass unemployment and social disruption caused by the Prime Minister’s “go early, go hard” response to COVID-19 has created an environment conducive to radical economic and social reform. It is an opportunity no politician who has sworn an allegiance to a “social democratic system” would ignore.

That much is revealed in the 2020 Budget commentaries.

In the  Forward to the Budget the Prime Minister indicates that her Government is planning a major ‘reset’ for the future:

“We began again knowing that we had the chance to reset some things and embrace any opportunity, albeit uninvited and unwelcome, offered to us by the disruption to business-as-usual that COVID-19 caused. And that is what Budget 2020 delivers.”

In her Parliamentary address, the PM said, “Prior to the virus we faced serious long term challenges – persistent inequality and poverty, the threat of climate change, the need to diversify the economy, low productivity, limited domestic manufacturing and an abundance of low paid jobs. Do we return to those settings or is now the time to find a better way?”

She stated that her Government has a plan to “rebuild in a way that makes things better than they were before”.

The Minister of Finance confirms that a reset is being planned in his Budget speech, and he outlines what it will entail:

“The glimmer of silver lining on this darkest of clouds comes from the knowledge that we have the opportunity to build back better.  There are few times in your life when you get to hit the reset button. It is an opportunity we will not squander.”

He says, “The answers lie in the great traditions of the First Labour Government who rebuilt New Zealand after the Great Depression.  It was a time when they understood a genuine partnership between government and the people. We are taking those principles into the modern era.”

He’s ruling out free enterprise. “We can also draw the lessons of the past as to what not to do in response to a major economic shock. As the economic carnage of the 1980s and 1990s wreaked havoc in our communities, I saw that up close.  It was based on a tired set of ideas that the market would save us, that if government sat on the sidelines all would be well.  Well, it didn’t work out that way and lives and livelihoods were lost. That will not happen again, not on the watch of this government.

According to the Minister of Finance, “This Budget takes… us down a path where we will face choices as to how we begin to repay some of our debt… We will grow our economy sustainably to pay back our debt, we will fairly share that burden, and above all we will do it together… It is just the end of the beginning, the next chapters are ours to write.”

So, there we have it. We are now standing at the beginning of a new era and will soon be subjected to a radical plan for social change based on the philosophy of old Labour socialism. Clearly the Prime Minister and others within her caucus – like the Chairman of Parliament’s Finance Select Committee Deborah Russell who wants “real, radical equality” and New Zealand to be “the most equal country in the world” – will use this historic moment to impose the ghost of Karl Marx onto New Zealand.

Behind the socialist narrative are figures that reveal the scale of the economic damage Jacinda Ardern’s lockdown has caused. The economy is projected to shrink by 4.6 percent in the year to June – the worst contraction since the Great Depression – and Government debt will rise more than at any other time in our history.

New borrowing over the next five years will be in the region of $160 billion – that’s over $80,000 per household. As a result, net core crown debt will increase to an eye-watering $200 billion or 53.6 percent of GDP by the end of June 2024 – up from 19 percent or just $58 billion barely a year ago.

What the Government has not revealed is how this massive debt will be repaid. That’s hardly surprising given the September 19 General Election is only 17 weeks away.

According to Treasury forecasts, unemployment, which is growing at present by 1,000 a week, could rise from 4.9 percent in January to almost 10 percent by September. Many commentators, however, think this is far too optimistic and that things will get much worse.

Indeed their concerns are valid since the budget’s predictions are based on a vaccine becoming available: “The main forecasts incorporate further recovery beyond next year. This is predicated on the assumption that COVID-19 no longer poses a significant threat globally (eg, an effective vaccine is available), thereby supporting renewed global growth, which combined with the removal of border restrictions supports renewed international tourism flows.”

In other words, if a vaccine is not found, as a result of Labour’s reckless borrowing, New Zealand’s future is dire.

With families and businesses now struggling to cope with the fallout from the lockdown, it is difficult to understand why the Government is refusing to postpone the 4 cent a litre increase in petrol tax that is scheduled for July.

Almost all goods and services have a fuel cost component so an increase in fuel tax is an increase in production costs for just about everything. Another cost is the very last thing the economy needs when so many are fighting to survive.

When times are tough most people do what they can to minimise outgoings. Yet there was no indication in last week’s budget that the Government intends trimming wasteful spending – no signal to departments or ministries to make savings, and no suggestion that public expenditure will undergo stringent line by line reviews.

Instead Budget 2020 was all about borrowing – and spending. That means more tax – a lot more tax. The increase in fuel tax is just the start.

Business columnist Damien Grant has described the budget as an ‘economic catastrophe’:

“The scale of the economic vandalism being unleashed on this country rivals that of Sir Robert Muldoon. This prime minister and her finance minister, in cahoots with a weak central bank governor, are destroying 36 years of prudent fiscal and monetary economic management.

“They do not understand economics. They do not understand business. Even more frightening, they do not understand the importance of the institutional legacy they have inherited and are in the process of destroying.

“This is an inexperienced government who have panicked at the economic fallout of their recent decisions. In order to avoid the inevitable and painful reallocation of resources required after a major economic shock they are not only destroying the Crown’s balance sheet – they are undermining the integrity of critical institutions and traditions.”

To achieve the ‘equality’ Jacinda Ardern’s Labour Party desires, it’s an inescapable reality that they are planning to take from the ‘rich’ to give to the ‘poor’. Through a radical ‘redistribution of resources’, they will take large sums from a relatively small number of households, to give smaller amounts to a large number of households that constitute their voter base. That’s how redistribution works – it is based on the principle that any government that takes from a few and gives to many is likely to win a majority of votes.

That’s modern socialism. That’s what lies ahead for New Zealand.

What form those taxes to repay the debt will take is unlikely to be revealed in detail before the election. Labour will instead talk about jobs. Only after the election will they admit the amount that is required to repay the debt is too large to be collected from income tax alone. Inevitably a capital gains tax will be back on the table, as will wealth taxes.

Budget 2020 signals that this is to be a government-led recovery – the Government that failed so miserably with KiwiBuild, now intends running the economy from the Beehive.

This week’s NZCPR Guest Commentary is a presentation to Parliament’s Epidemic Response Committee by economist Dr Bryce Wilkinson. A Senior Fellow with the New Zealand Initiative, Dr Wilkinson explains that history is unequivocal – government-led recoveries don’t work. The only effective way to rebuild an economy is through a recovery driven by private enterprise:

“The great clamour in the community currently is for more money to spend. They are turning to government by default. But the only way for the community to generate greater income is through job creation and productivity growth. This has to come overwhelmingly from the private sector.

“People with energy and enterprise do not need government to lead them. They need to be freed up to find what other people need and do their best to satisfy that need productively. Government regulations that make it harder to employ people, hard to put housing developments in place and hard to raise overseas capital hold them and the community back.”

By imposing lockdown restrictions that were far tighter than they needed to be, Jacinda Ardern has brought the country to its knees. Now, through generous subsidies, even the private sector is becoming a State beneficiary.

There is no doubt about it – our Prime Minister is again leading the world with bold measures. This time it’s not global warming, our nuclear free moment, nor closing down the oil and gas exploration industry. It is much more fundamental and potentially far more destructive.

Jacinda Ardern is transforming New Zealand into a socialist state. And the tragedy is that most people are completely unaware that it is happening.

Comrade cindy on the back foot already . The fact that she is having to defend the no hopers who sit behind her after only a few days of a Muller led National Party speaks volumes .

"Every measure of accountability they have set for themselves they have failed and we will point out their deficiencies and what we will do to deliver an alternative."

Jacinda Ardern says she will defend her ministers "strongly" and "stand proudly" with her team following accusations by new Opposition leader, Todd Muller, that her Cabinet is full of "17 empty chairs".

Ardern hit back at host Ryan Bridge and his pointed questions regarding the competency of her Cabinet, including disgraced Health Minister Dr David Clark - who breached lockdown protocol twice - and Economic Development Minister Phil Twyford, whose rocky incumbency as Housing Minister came to an end after false promises regarding the controversial Kiwibuild scheme lost him the portfolio.

I'll add to that a minister who hit her staff , a minister who is giving prisoners the vote , the same minister who has blown multi millions at pike river , child poverty doubling BEFORE the virus , etc etc

and don't forget david clark went on holiday when the nurses were striking .

.Looking good Todd .

Willing Participants in a Political Illusion

Ardern’s Extraordinary Success During Lockdown & the Fixation with Muller’s MAGA Hat

By Suze

The huge support Ardern generated after the COVID-19 lockdown is puzzling. Why did polling on her leadership increase when she introduced repressive measures and legislation during lockdown?

The same question can be asked of Todd Muller’s appointment because the most talked about fact was that Muller owns a MAGA hat. Why are we interested in a hat which symbolises Donald Trump when Muller appears to have little in common with Trump?

I found a possible answer to both questions in a very unlikely place: an economic theory with its origins in a dead Austrian economist, Ludwig von Mises (1881-1973). He was one of the last members of the original Austrian school of economics that examined socialist resentment of a free market economy. But that’s another story. What we are looking at here is the theory of adding value, which Rory Sutherland of Ogilvy Advertising in the UK discusses in relation to capitalism.

Sutherland opines there are only two things that create value in business and they are not the traditional theory of supply and demand. Sutherland suggests that adding value is achieved by marketing and innovation alone. He says everything else is simply an economic cost.

Sutherland says if you can’t give people what they want, then you should work out an ingenious way to make people want what you have. The illusion of Brand Ardern sprang to mind to answer the questions above.

The illusion of “giving us what we want” explains Ardern’s extraordinary success during lockdown. We stayed home even after overseas evidence said the lockdown had a similar effect on the spread of COVID-19 as not locking down. Closing borders and contact tracing were the real keys to success and we could easily have avoided the financial carnage without lockdown.

Of course, if you are expecting an apology from the magician and her assistant Ashley Bloomfield for devastating our financial future, think again. Brand Ardern must be protected at all cost.

Rather than admit they were wrong, the magic team kept the fear mongering going. In fact, they were so successful that when the time came to venture out into public again some people were too afraid.

Ardern created the illusion that our lives were in her hands. We feared death and every day the illusionists reminded us more deaths would occur if we did not follow their instructions. Even when we knew this was a lie we complied anyway.

The acid test of the success of the illusion is when the illusion is believed instead of the facts.

We were the willing participants to Ardern’s illusion and she succeeded because we rejected the facts in favour of the illusion of avoiding thousands of deaths. Dangerous territory indeed, and yet here we are.

Relating the theory of marketing and innovation to Muller’s MAGA hat, the media created the illusion of orange man bad, ipso facto we also see orange man bad. The illusion is so good it overtakes the facts.

The common denominator in both examples is the media who make the illusion believable but the truth not so much.

On the AM show this week Ardern was the confident smiling assassin who once again demonstrated that facts are irrelevant when your illusion is robust.

Ryan Bridge asked Ardern what she thought about Todd Muller’s MAGA hat. Ardern replied “I’ll leave that, again, to the public.”

Ardern knows perfectly well the public bought hook, line and sinker into the illusion of orange man bad. That illusion is so strong it beats any fact the media unconvincingly throw at it.

Ardern despises orange man bad but has no need to say it. She has complete faith in the illusion created with media help. The public buy in is very sound. The loony left, the lazy and the just plain stupid know for certain that the orange man is bad and all facts to the contrary can be happily discarded.

Ryan Bridge asks her if she has confidence in the competence of her ministers and Ardern smugly retorts “Ultimately it will be our record that people judge us on.”

Note that Ardern does not answer the question. Instead, she resorts to Brand Ardern to deflect attention away from the appalling track record of her ministers.

Bridge tries again. “So, the National party is worried about your team though, the people in your cabinet. When it comes to the biggest common struggle of a generation, the person that you have put in charge of economic development is Phil Twyford.”

This is laugh out loud funny! How does the illusionist handle the very obvious fact that the government’s biggest failure was delivered by the honourable Twyford? You guessed it, she resorts to brand Ardern.

“Again, I am going to defend my team” she says.

“KiwiBuild? Light rail? What about Phil?” Bridge valiantly plods on. Ardern keeps smiling and throwing the illusion of brand Ardern at any facts Bridge cares to raise. Her brand is quite impenetrable and the facts are irrelevant. This is dangerous territory indeed.

The illusion of the exemplary leadership Adolf Hitler created for the German people persuaded those that knew of them that his mass extermination camps were justified. People had been thoroughly convinced by Hitler’s illusion of a master race. This is not to say that Ardern has the evil intentions that drove Hitler, this merely demonstrates the power of a strong illusion, and how easy it is to sell the lie.

The facts will always fall before a masterful illusion.

“On employment, Willy Jackson?” Bridge asks forlornly. And fruitlessly, because Ardern has complete faith in her robust illusion. She simply keeps rolling out the illusion of the success of her team against the factual failures of the individuals in it.

Bridge’s mention of the Minister of Health, David Clark, totally missing in action during COVID-19, is countered by Arden’s illusion that we avoided tens of thousands of COVID-19 deaths because of lockdown. Ardern deflects from the weakness of her ministers to the winning formula of a strong illusion.

Ardern has public buy-in because the easiest and laziest way to handle political discord is not to bother with the facts, but accept the illusions presented every single day by media representatives.

Todd Muller has two major hurdles to overcome if he wants to beat Ardern at her own game. First, he must get media buy-in (he started this process by recruiting Matthew Hooton); and second he must create illusions about the National party for a gullible public. This is the brave new world we live in: a world of deceit and lies!

There is another option: the path less travelled, of truth and honesty. Unfortunately Muller chose Hooton and ignored the opportunity provided by the the MAGA hat thus indicating this path is not his first choice.

Keeping politicians honest seems light years away from NZ politics unless the public says otherwise and we unearth politicians with the calibre and back bone of Donald Trump.

Your mission, dear reader, should you decide to accept it, is to identify the illusions presented to you every single day by a politically compliant media. There is some incentive because the alternative is ending up on the barbecue along with the others who swallowed the illusions hook, line and sinker.

Orange man bad..? ..yet the deceit and lies here are not miles away are they......?

Faceless incompetents....Claire Curran anyone...??
