Good on Scott Morrison - he just let her hang herself. The media in Oz do not like a NZ PM telling them how to run their Country - especially non- performing Far Left Socialist types.

If you just say nothing then you get bullied. In regard to these deportations Aus are bullying NZ. You gotta stand up to bullies.

With just seven months until the election, the legacy of this Government will be of a core constituency cruelly conned. There is plenty of evidence to support the claim. All arrows in virtually all areas are pointing in the wrong direction – down when they should be up and up when they should be down. This is due in large part to a Government made up of people who are frankly out of their depth. A look at left parties globally shows that they are made up of those who are, above all else, ideologically driven. Their policies are framed accordingly, with no regard to the reality or the economic feasibility of implementing them. Their lack of understanding of economics accounts for the nonsensical idea of a wellbeing budget.

In her introduction to last year’s wellbeing budget the Prime Minister commented that though New Zealand has had strong growth for a number of years, it is still experiencing some of the highest rates of suicide, unacceptable homelessness and shameful rates of family violence and child poverty. She went on to say that growth alone does not lead to a great country. So it’s time to focus on the things that do.

So let’s look at five main areas and see what her so-called focus has achieved.

Child poverty is a good one to start with as she is the responsible Minister. In 2013 when measurement started 18.1% of children were living in material hardship. In 2017 the figure was 12.7%, a huge drop of almost a third. Between 2017 and 2019 the figure has increased from 12.7% to 13.4%. So under National, there was a significant decrease while under Labour and the Minister’s focus the figure has gone up.

Housing has been one of this Government’s biggest failures. When National left office the waitlist for state housing was 5,884. In August last year, the figure was 13,167, up from 12,644 in July. This broke the record set by the Labour Government of 2004. Penalising landlords is stupid beyond belief, as was pumping money into the KiwiBuild fiasco. Hence where we are now.

When it comes to welfare it is usual for those on the right to theorise that the left encourages people onto benefits so as to increase their core support. Is there proof of the validity of this supposition? The latest benefit statistics provide it. Published in January they show 37,000 more people on welfare since the change of Government. There has been a 22% increase of those on the jobseeker benefit. There are 16,000 more people who have been on the benefit for over a year. Figures show a 30% increase in Maori and Pacific Island jobseeker benefit levels, and 15,000 more children are living in a benefit dependent household. Quite an achievement!

In education, the attendance rates at school are of concern. They have been falling since 2015 and the trend has continued under this Government. The regular attendance rate was down from 63% in 2017 to 57.7% in 2019. The unjustified absentee rate increased from 4% to 4.7%. Asian attendance rate was down from 73.4% to 68.9%. Maori was down from 50% to 43.8% and the Pasifika rate was down from 51.7% to 44.7%. Was the closing of charter schools just a coincidence? These figures all represent the 2017 to 2019 period.

In the area of health, all the arrows are again pointing in the wrong direction. The scrapping of health targets by the Government hasn’t helped. Comparisons are revealing. When National was in power during the years 2008 to 2014 figures show those getting cancer treatment within four weeks rose from 65% to 100%. There was a 33% increase in elective surgery. Those treated within six hours in ED showed a rise from 70% to 94%. Immunisation rates for two-year-olds went from 76% to 93%. Where are we today? The immunisation rates for eight-month-olds has fallen from 92.2% in 2017 to 90.1% last year. The percentage of cancer patients starting treatment within 92 days has fallen from 93.2 in 2017 to 87.7% last year. The percentage of ED patients seen within six hours has dropped from 93.1% in 2017 to 90% last year.

Other areas of failure to meet targets include the number of homeless – up, the number of trees planted – down, the number of affordable houses built – down, the number of new police officers – down, net migration – up, gun buyback numbers – down, and a significant increase in the use of coal for electricity.

In terms of last year being a year of delivery, in postal parlance it should be addressed RETURN TO SENDER with an accompanying note – couldn’t put their stamp on anything, probably not even an envelope.

I was reading about the comments made by PM Ardern re Shane Jones and his “INDIAN Student” comments. He’s a member of the Ardern Government and she is therefore responsible for one of “her” Govt members comments. To come out and say she’s not responsible for him or Winston Peters, her Deputy PM and Foreign Minister, shows how selective she is and very weak at the same time. I was playing golf today with a few Aussies and I asked them what they thought of Arden giving Scott Morrison a serve about sending NZ Citizens back to NZ if they commit serious crimes whilst living in Australia. I can’t print their immediate comments on here but if you are wondering what they might be, the best I can say is that it was “very unkind” and she would have to be a contortionist to achieve the results they were suggesting. To his credit, Scott Morrison didn’t respond and let her hang herself. Ardern needs to realise that Melbourne has a larger population than NZ - and NZ needs Australia onside. Diplomacy is Obviously not one of Ardern’s strengths!

Clown Show Continues over Auckland’s Light Rail

By XTRO

The clown show over Labour’s promised light-rail plan continues, with a three-way split developing amongst the governing parties.

The Government is splitting three ways on plans for Auckland light rail as the saga heads to its endgame phase.

Labour Ministers are erring towards signing New Zealand up to a long and expensive public-private partnership (PPP), while the Greens are understood to favour something more modest. NZ First wants something more modest still, publicly suggesting that its caucus is likely to axe any proposal put to it.

The Beehive has gone into lockdown, with Labour Ministers allegedly not sharing full and timely briefings with their Government colleagues, Stuff understands. None of the governing parties would comment on the record for this story.

Yet the dispute has already spilled out into the open. Associate Transport Minister Shane Jones told an infrastructure conference on Friday that the issue “has not been to the NZ First caucus and it will need to before we have a position as a party.”

Phil Twyford couldn’t organise a root in a brothel. NZ First is also yanking hard on the emergency brake.

Jones also noted that there was no concrete commitment to building Auckland light rail in NZ First’s coalition agreement with Labour. He also said the party were “doubting Thomases” when it came to the “light rail kaupapa”.

Jones made the remarks despite other Government Ministers putting him “under strict instruction not to talk about light rail”, he said.

Labour campaigned hard on building the first section of its light rail scheme from Britomart to Mt Roskill by 2021. It was their second most promoted policy after the embarrassing Kiwibuild policy fail. The light-rail policy has delivered even less than Kiwibuild which has been acknowledged as an unmitigated disaster for Labour. The costs are now spiralling out of control and not even a single millimetre of track is yet laid.

Some in the Government have been spooked by spiralling cost estimates and the amount of money likely to be sent sent offshore. Cost estimates shared with Stuff by sources familiar with the matter are now as high as $20 billion.

It would mean New Zealanders could pay hundreds of millions — potentially close to a billion dollars — to the Canadian fund each year, likely through taxes and tickets sale over the life of the joint venture. This has raised eyebrows at a time when interest rates for government borrowing are at near record lows.

For example, assuming a return on capital of 7 per cent — a global standard for PPPs — on a $20 billion project fully financed by NZ Infra, the consortium could enjoy returns of $1.4 billion every year for as long as the PPP lasted.

Under that scenario, if those returns were split 70-30, just under $1 billion of that income would be heading to Canada, with the rest staying with the Super Fund.

But wait, Twyford, glib as ever, reckons this is a good deal.

Twyford has previously called the bid a “public-public partnership”, and said the scheme’s profits would support the kiwi retirees through returns for the Super Fund

“This would mean that every time you ride a train to work, you’re effectively paying for your retirement,” he said.

But on those numbers it appears that Canadian retirees will be the ones who benefit most substantively from Aucklanders’ light rail trips.

Stuff

This is the same Phil Twyford who said Kiwibuild would build 10,000 houses per annum for ten years.

Phil Twyford seems to be untouchable even though it is abundantly clear to everyone but the Prime Minister that he has tits for hands. He hasn’t delivered on two major policy areas now. How many chances does he have left?

Perhaps he could be made Minister for Clowns.

Having taken steps to solve the problem of the overheating CPU in my Fly On the Wall spyfly device, as outlined in a previous report, your intrepid eyewitness was keen to test the new model. I had managed to further reduce the size of the spyfly from overweight blowfly size to around the size of a mid-sized species of horsefly. An improved miniature cooling fan for the CPU had been installed, incorporating a longer-lasting battery, and I was confident that this would give a longer spying experience.

I therefore once again sent my spyfly, winging its way through the corridors of what passes for power these days, to the office of Grunt Robbingson, the Minister of Sausage Rolls and Finance, as I had grounds to believe that the PM, Justinda Ardeau would be holding an informal chat with him that morning.

Nor was I disappointed as, right on time, the clatter of hooves was heard and Justinda entered the office under the unblinking gaze of the waiting horsefly.

Justinda: Good morning Grunt, how are we this morning? And it is a very good morning, isn’t it!

Grunt: You’re sounding remarkably on your oats this morning Prime Minister. To what do we owe the bright eyes and bushy tail?

Justinda: You must know Grunt. I really showed him, didn’t I?

Grunt: Oh, I think you must be referring to your recent public dissing of our Aussie cobber, Snot Morrison.

Justinda: Of course, Grunt. (Chortles proudly). Yes, I made him look really silly didn’t I? Caught him offside and out of his crease. He was obviously expecting the usual diplomatic claptrap but I showed him that I, Justinda Ardeau, am not to be trifled with. Corrosive is such a good word, don’t you think? Did you see the look on his face Grunt? Priceless!

Grunt: Do you think it’s wise to get offside with a long-time ally and friendly nation, and possibly jeopardise New Zealanders’ free access to Australia, Justinda?

Justinda: Grunt, how many times do I have to tell you, the word is jepradise? You’re a very slow learner Grunt. And the country is Our-tear-roar Grunt. Get used to it. Well, this is part of my strategic plan; you must see that. When our policies start to bite the people on the rump, and they realise that the country is broke and starting to resemble Cuba or Venezuela, what will they do?

Grunt: Well, I suppose that a lot of them will hop on a plane and esc… rather, go, to Australia.

Justinda: Heh heh, no they won’t Grunt. I’m expecting that by then Artearoans will have their access restricted. I’m expecting that it’ll be impossible for any Artearoarns to go to Australia. They will be persons non grated by then, and will have to stay here, and continue to enjoy the kindness and wellbeing that I will continue to provide for them.

Grunt: I think you mean persona non grata, the plural of which is personae non gratae, Justinda.

Justinda: You’re such a pendunt, Grunt.

Grunt: Well, the word is actually pedant, but… Yes well, maybe Australia may get a bit annoyed and deport more of our criminals back here, do you think?

Justinda: One thing at a time Grunt, I haven’t thought that far ahead yet. Now that I’ve got everyone saying what a great leader I am for standing up to the Australians, I’ll just ease off a bit and then pick up some more votes at the 15th of March Commemorations. I’m practising my hugging techniques and holding my breath while I do it, in case anyone has that Kimonovirus thingy.

Grunt: It’s actually… well, never mind. I did hear that some of the affected families are not really wanting to commemorate the event, Justinda. Apparently their culture isn’t big on annual rehashing of tragedies.

Justinda, (accompanied by a noticeable stamping of a foot): Well I am, Grunt, and I don’t care what anyone says. I’ve been waiting the last year for this, and I won’t be denied my opportunidy. I need to hug some people again Grunt. I don’t want my hugging muscles to get soft and flabby, [with a meaningful glance at Grunt’s physique] like some people around here. There will be photographers and journalists there, Grunt, and I need to be there for them. I have a new scarf too, that I’m itching to wear; it’s such a lovely shade of black. I’m also thinking about hugging some Kimonovirus sufferers. But sick people aren’t nice to be near if you know what I mean. Do you think that hugging their families will be enough?

Grunt: I’m just wondering if it’s wise to do too much hugging, Justinda. Voters may just start to think that there’s a smidgeon of opportunism and insincerity if you overdo it.

Justinda: Nonsense Grunt, it’s an election year for goodness sake! I need to hug like I’ve never hugged before. I was born to hug, Grunt, it’s me! I’m a born hugger, and hug I must, and hug I will. If my arms were longer I’d even practice on you. And by the way, do you think that it would be a good idea to say that I can see this Kimonovirus? I bet Greta hasn’t thought of that yet, and I think it would make her really mad if I said that.

Grunt: No Justinda, just no.

Justinda: (grudgingly): Well ok, but it would be good to get one over that Greta…

Unfortunately, at this point, the spyfly’s connection to the remote control went haywire and caused it to launch itself from the wall and fly noisily around the room until it crashed into a large plate of sausage rolls on Grunt’s desk. With a string of fearful imprecations, Grunt threw the sausage roll with the embedded spyfly into his waste basket, and at that point, the transmission ceased. Your intrepid eyewitness also imprecated lustily and then set off home to work on a better remote control.

How gutless is this , this so called leader is a disgrace .

Jacinda Ardern is asking voters not to "punish" her for remarks by New Zealand First MP Shane Jones, described as "racist" by New Zealand's Indian community and the Race Relations Commissioner.  The Prime Minister was grilled in an interview with the Indian Weekender, where the pair discussed Jones' statement to Newshub Nation that the "number of students that have come from India have ruined" New Zealand universities.

The interviewer, Sandeep Singh, asked the Labour leader why she is allowing "casual racism at the top most level of New Zealand politics",   "My message to voters is this: in election year, the power now sits with you - you determine who is able to form governments and you have it within your power to decide what you make of those remarks," Ardern said.

"I would consider that to not be fair that I be punished for the opinions of others, which I personally strongly disagree with, or indeed Labour.

HAS SHE forgotten who she is supposed to be , she's supposed to be the PM , the country's leader , she gets PAID to be the country's leader , the parliamentary rules give her the power deal with Jones , this is without a doubt the most useless PM this country has ever had ., what an embarrassment .

Proof she doesn't know what she's doing .

Ms Ardern has repeatedly denied allegations of slackness and today reiterated that they're going above and beyond guidelines from the World Health Organization.

"I made the point in the House that actually this is a global issue and it's also obviously affecting all of New Zealand and will do for some time," she told TVNZ1's Breakfast this morning.

"Really my offer to them , (National) given this is a New Zealand issue, let's pool the resources and some of the ideas that might be had about how we can lessen the impact as much as possible.

"When I say meaningful ideas, mostly I see that in the ECONOMIC  response. What we need for public health is a research and evidence-based response. That's why we're sharing with them openly what we're doing and why."

What an admission , clearly again the C O L led by cindy is out of their depth .

PM’s Claims about NZ Coronavirus Restrictions Are Pure Hyperbole

By SB

In an attempt to appear decisive and in control, Prime Minister Ardern has made claims about the restrictions her government has put in place that are pure hyperbole. To be frank, if her claims were buckets they would not hold water.

It will be the strictest border restriction rules in the world, Arden said.
“Alongside Israel and a small number of pacific islands who have effectively closed their borders this decision will mean New Zealand will have the widest ranging and toughest border restrictions of any country in the world,” Ardern said.

I am actually being too kind describing the Prime Minister’s claim as hyperbole. If you fact check her claim that her policy is the “widest ranging and toughest border restrictions of any country in the world” you can only come to the conclusion that it is a complete falsehood.

New Zealand’s so-called “strictest border restriction rules in the world” are as follows:

From March 15, any person travelling into New Zealand from overseas, including New Zealand citizens, are required to self-isolate for 14 days following entry unless they are coming from the Pacific Islands. However if they are displaying symptoms they will not be allowed in. All cruise ships have been banned from entry into New Zealand until June 30.

Travel restrictions apply to any foreigners who:

  • have been present in, or transited through, Iran or mainland China 14 days prior to them departing for New Zealand. Mainland China includes all of China, but not Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR, and not Taiwan.
  • were a passenger or crew on board the Diamond Princess Cruise ship operated by Princess Cruises within 14 days of disembarking from the cruise ship.

Other countries have put in place much tougher restrictions than New Zealand. Other countries are actually closing their national borders. For example, I know of two New Zealanders currently inside Israel who are not allowed to leave right now.

Trump has closed America’s borders to most countries and will soon be reviewing even those few currently allowed access. Compare and contrast the following border restriction rules from other countries to the ones that Prime Minister Ardern has announced.

  • On Sunday the government in Cyprus has announced that only its citizens, along with other Europeans working on the island and people with special permits will be allowed into the country for a 15-day period.
  • The Czech Republic partially closed its borders on 14 March and will have closed its borders to all nonresidents by 16 March.
  • Denmark closed its borders to all noncitizens on March 14 and has included a ban on crossing the border for all tourism, travel, and vacations.
  • India from March 13 suspended all tourist visas and OCI entries were suspended until at least April 15, while holders of these visas who were already in the country can stay. They also tightened/closed their border with neighbouring countries. India also mandated a 14-day quarantine for citizens returning from seven countries: China, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, South Korea and Spain.
  • Lithuania has closed the border to foreigners, except for those with residence permits, effective from March 16.
  • North Korea: Closed its borders to all international tourists. Chinese visitors make up the bulk of foreign tourists to North Korea. They have also tightened/closed their border with mainland China.
  • Oman: Suspended tourist visas for all visitors, effective March 15, for 1 month.
  • Poland: From March 15 for a 10 days there is an entry ban for all foreigners, except for those possessing residence or work permits, and 14 days quarantine on its citizens returning home.
  • Slovakia: Closed its borders to all nonresidents. Will close international airports and require all residents returning from abroad to quarantine. Violators may be fined up to 1659 EUR.
  • Suriname: Will close its borders for all persons and flights starting March 14.
  • Ukraine: From March 15, Ukraine will close its borders for foreigners for two weeks.
  • Vietnam: Vietnam has announced that from 15 March all foreign nationals will be refused entry to Vietnam if in the previous 14 days they have been to the UK, or any Schengen country, even in transit. This restriction will be in place for 30 days.

The one question that will be on everyone’s lips regarding Ardern’s”widest ranging and toughest border restrictions of any country in the world” is what exactly does “self-isolation” actually mean? Most people live with at least one other person. If they self-isolate in the family home and don’t go to work, the other person will still be going to work and be out and about in society. Only a proper quarantine, like the one done not so long ago with travellers from Wuhan at the Army base close to where I live in Whangaparaoa, will actually prevent the spread of the virus.

Self-isolation is not a real or an effective way to stop the spread of the virus. Only a proper quarantine can do that. She hasn’t even offered proper quarantine facilities for those who actually have been diagnosed with the virus. The last thing we need is these people coming into our hospitals and spreading it to all the other sick people. They need to be cared for inside a facility specially set up for them only.

The rest home industry is at huge risk because of this. All it will take is for one of their people to be returned to them after a hospital visit for something else and it will spread like wildfire throughout the rest home. The carnage will be extreme as they are the most at-risk age group.

Rest home owners can restrict visitor entry and can even go into complete lockdown to protect their customers but they will have to take anyone who has been to hospital back, regardless of whether or not they are or may have been infected while there. It is ticking timebomb for the rest home industry. Already in America, one rest home has had 13 people die from the virus

Ardern’s announcement was a masterclass in PR puffery and it will please the fans. In reality though, it is not an example of strong leadership and, far from going “hard and early”, she has acted late and with kid gloves in comparison to the rest of the world.

Why 14 with a 24 day incubation? The UK have got it right, Ardern is listening to Ashley Bloomfield whose expertise is Non-communicable disease. I was in a Bank today with 3 German tourists F.O.B trying to organise something related to their trip. Crazy times

Pike river stupidity .

An operation to re-enter the Pike River mine is on track to exceed its $36 million budget and require a taxpayer top-up. Pike River Recovery Agency forecasts show the project running out of money mid-2020 . The Government originally budgeted $7.6m a year for three years, totalling $23m. It then topped up the budget to $36m.

Minister Responsible for Pike River Re-entry Andrew Little said the recovery of the mine drift was going well.

JUST another cindy stuff up .

And this .

A woman who lost her son in the Pike River Mine disaster says enough money has been poured into its re-entry.  Marion Curtin, mother of Richard Holling who never came home after the tragedy, said too much taxpayer money had been spent for no clear reason .

"The whole thing is ridiculous anyway, so this [possibly asking for more money] is ridiculous," she said.

She questioned what they would find by entering the drift, when the men were in the mine when the explosion occurred.

"A lot of the public think they're going into the mine itself, which they're not.

"They're just re-entering the 'road' [the drift] up to the mine.

"The mine is where the men were when the explosion happened, that's where any remains would be.

"The Coroner's finding explained in good detail the affect a blast of that degree would have on a human body, there'll be nothing but ash to retrieve.

"They're not going to retrieve the bodies. Let them rest in peace. They're not lost, we know where they are.

"When will I hear someone say 'enough is enough'? "  .

CINDY doesn't care , it's only tax payer money , but it's money that should be spent on the living .

Here we go again , they don't know what they are doing , no idea of the value of money .

Recovering the Pike River mine drift could cost up to $51 million.

The Government has approved another $10.8m to complete the project as well as a $4.2m contingency.

The Government originally budgeted $7.6m a year for three years, totalling $23m. It then topped up the budget to $36m.

So this is the third budget blowout in two years ,The cost has increased around 700%.

They would spend less if they gave each family $1.75 million.

On Tuesday Grant Robertson outlined a financial package which I had thought would be designed to help the country, particularly businesses, through the Covid-19 crisis. As I pointed out in an earlier post today it was more like a stay at home package with an undue emphasis on welfare. Many businesses would have seen no benefit from what was announced.

Compare that to the package put together by the Chancellor of the Exchequer in the UK. On Tuesday night Rishi Sunak unveiled a £330 billion bailout for BUSINESSES. I am not intending that there be a comparison in the amounts on offer between our package and theirs although it is worth noting that ours is 4% of GDP while theirs is 15%. What I am comparing is where the money is targeted.

The Chancellor set out an “unprecedented package” of emergency loans for struggling firms. He also scrapped business rates for a year and promised cash grants for shops, pubs and other high street operators hit by the slump in customers along with three month mortgage holidays for homeowners in need. Planning regulations are to be ripped up to allow restaurants and pubs to sell takeaway food. That’s smart thinking. The Chancellor has vowed to do whatever it takes to protect the economy. He said this is not a time for IDEOLOGY and ORTHODOXY. This is a time to be bold. A time for courage.

I invite you to compare that with what we were handed. A mealy-mouthed half baked, half-hearted attempt to address the crisis. All they achieved was what we already knew. They are not business-friendly and in fact, don’t have the faintest idea of how it works and will take every opportunity to dole out to their voter base. And they do it in the most blatant way. Shame on them.

SonavaMin-cartoon-WINZ-free-money-electi The BFD. Cartoon credit SonovaMin.

Above all the comparison between the packages highlights just what an incompetent bunch of lightweights we have running this country. They have shown themselves to be clueless on a day to day basis, but in a crisis, they are proving to be, at best, two sandwiches short of a picnic.

The Prime Minister Needs to Grow the Hell Up

While the Rest of the World Is Contemplating or Implementing Lock Downs, Our PM Is Engaging in PR Stunts.

The rest of the world is taking the Covid-19 pandemic a great deal more seriously than our Prime Minister. While Israel moves into full lockdown along with many other countries, Jacinda Ardern is performing PR stunts. The latest is a press conference specifically for children:

New Zealand’s prime minister has held a special press conference just for children, saying the young need extra help understanding the global coronavirus pandemic.

Sitting next to Jacinda Ardern was scientist Dr Michelle Dickinson – who specialises in science communication for kids – and Dr Siouxsie Wiles, who many New Zealanders have come to rely on for calm, practical advice during the crisis.

“Kids ask a lot of questions most of the time, and right now they understandably have plenty about Covid-19,” Ardern posted on Instagram.

That’s why we put on a press conference just for children and their questions.”

“I hope it will be a useful resource to help answer some of the questions from the young people in your life.”

One could be facetious saying she needs to talk to someone at her mental level occasionally, but that would just be cruel. She seems to need the adulation from kids because, I suspect, adults are beginning to see through her.

Jacinda Ardern is not the nation’s mother, she’s the nation’s scatterbrained ninny of a daughter that is becoming tiresome with her antics. She should not be doing the job of parents.

In any case, almost everything she says is overtaken by events faster than she can backpedal on previous statements.

If she really gave a damn about children she’d be shutting down schools as they have in Israel, South Korea, Singapore and Japan.

Instead, she is holding what are little more than stunts.

She needs to grow the hell up and start acting like a grown-up. If she doesn’t then she should let the grown-ups take the big seat.
