Suckers all right , the 15000 new beneficiaries will cost about $8,000,000 a year to keep just for one year , the only reason we have 15000 more beneficiaries is government policy . They don't know what they are doing .

Our immigration policy is to blame...cheap labour and refugees count the 15000

Winston Peters holds a critical position, both as foreign affairs Minister.... this position in itself has himself in a watchdog position.. making sure he knows all foreign matters are seen by his eyes, this is critical in making sure he's made aware of everything foreign.

it is in affect a position that would slow down any foreign influence within our country.

The fact you consider him toothless is simply a result of the power of influence within government... ie insufficient votes

im of the opinion he had a choice during the 2017 election and had to choose between the THEN  dishonest National leadership, or go with the unknown leadership of Labour and negotiate for critical positions!!

Since that time.. the leadership has changed in National.. and im inclined to think that despite the spats that Winston and Simon had... Winston will shift to a coalition with National in the Next election if NZfirst hold the balance.. which will be critical once again.... but like all things time will tell

Winstons position is personal , it's based on hatred . Make no mistake he will never go with National , no matter what . Making this even worse is his inability to forgive Bridges for thrashing him in Tauranga electorate , he will never go with National even if he gets the chance , mr 2.5% .

Where to start , so many choices , stuff ups every day .

Ok , we all know poverty is increasing sharply , we all know the house policy has failed , light rail is a joke , the latest terrorist leglislation is a shocker , it just goes on and on , endless incompetence and this .

Land Information Minister and Green MP Eugenie Sage has given a foreign-owned forestry company a free pass to buy thousands of hectares of New Zealand land without applying to the Overseas Investment Office (OIO).

Japanese-owned Pan Pac Forest Products was given the special approval to bypass the OIO to purchase land for forestry for the next three years as the government sought foreign forestry money to help meet its tree planting targets.

The pre-approval was given to Pan Pac despite the Green Party having strongly protested land sales to foreigners. The free pass allows Pan Pac to make 25 transactions involving 20,000ha of land and is valid until 2022. .

SO more stupidity and straight out lies , I wonder what the cost to NZ will be in lost income over 30 years , no doubt BILLIONS .

How the hell can any of you vote for this pack of losers again ?????????? unbelievable .

Triple A you are 101% correct.     The ploy is to not lose his voters who are unhappy with present alliance with Labour.    To get his 5% to retain seats he needs both factions within his party so the statements of his are not a surprise.     Also his abhorrence of the Nats goes back even further than the Bridges Tauranga incident.      One thing he has is an "elephant's" memory anddd a very unforgiving nature.

Easy , the new law only applies to 18 year olds and over , we all know plenty of terrorists are younger than 18 , also the 6 year time frame is a joke .

Despite the COL saying that they will stop or limit land sales to overseas interests they have given permission for a Japanese company to purchase up to 20000ha over a 3 year period to convert to forestry. They do not have to go thru the normal consent process.

Just as bad as the Nats.

No , not as bad as the Nats , this is MUCH WORSE  we expect this from the Nats , this lot straight out lied to people , another betrayal .

The losses in returns from the land over a 30 year period will be billions , this 20,000 hec is on top of the previously sold $7 BILLIONS worth , cindy and the greens have much to answer for .

Clearly 18 is way past the innocent stage , probably 14 is where this should start and the law will apply to everyone . Defining a terrorist , that's easy but a suspected terrorists is another matter and that's why 18 is far to old to start paying attention to what someone might be getting up to . Another shambles .

The end is near , even the greens are imploding , that makes two in despair , Winston is a goner , he might not even campaign in the next general election .

A significant group within the Greens who are very unhappy with agriculture being exempted from the ETS until 2025, and possibly forever.

They’re also unhappy the Greens are supporting the anti-terrorist legislation, and the foreign land sales Green Ministers have okayed.

The target of their anger is co-leader James Shaw. It is not impossible he will face a leadership challenge – not necessarily from another MP.''

Now I guess the troubles started when the govt joined the tpp after protesting against it , they did change the name to tppa but it was only the name that changed . cindy refuses to endorse a  climate emergency , Eugene sage has approved Land sales of now 90 thousand hec to foreigners ,  she also approved the expansion of bathursts COAL MINE in CH CH .

Now cindy has let the farmers off the hook with the emissions , she is shit scared , she is desperate , nothing will save her .

This lots demise can't come soon enough .

You got it shodsie , the nat's don't have to do anything at the moment regarding Winston , 3/4 weeks before the election would be good timing , let them waste their remaining resources (which must be scarce) playing the same game Winston played last time , then lay the boot in , this is of course unless nzf collapses before the election .

And labour , failure after failure ,  I like this .

twyford , Twyford’s inability to deliver on the two big promises he was tasked with really leaves the Prime Minister with no option but to remove him from any meaningful portfolio, or out of Cabinet completely.

I predict there is no chance that Ardern will remove Twyford from Cabinet. If she started to remove Ministers for incompetence, then Cabinet might get rather small.

Jeez this lot are hopeless , more stupidity , roading being dominated by the greens , this is a three headed monster .

Associate Transport Minister Julie Anne Genter has admitted she would only back Wellington's $6.4 billion transport programme if a mass public transport system was built before an extra Mt Victoria tunnel.

Genter has released details of a letter she sent to Transport Minister Phil Twyford on March 26, in which she outlined her conditions for supporting the 20-year Let's Get Wellington Moving (LGWM) programme.  She stipulated that public transport, walking and cycling improvements would need to be prioritised over an extra tunnel if she was to back the plan.

Opposition MPs have speculated Genter's letter had an undue influence on the final package, and asked for her to release it.

On Wednesday, Genter and Twyford released a joint statement saying the Chief Ombudsman had backed their decision not to release Genter's letter.

National Party Transport spokesman Chris Bishop said it was clear the Green Party had been "calling the shots" when it came to Wellington's transport.

"There's going to be a considerable amount of public unhappiness - a huge number of Wellingtonians know it's critical to unclog Wellington's congestion."

So actually delaying a vital tunnel until 2029 which went against NZTA advice , actually creating more congestion and more pollution , no logic here .

More land sold to foreigners .

'' Wealthy European buyers have snapped up four more sheep and beef farms to convert to forestry, as rural concerns over the sales ramp up.

Overseas Investment Office (OIO) decisions made in September and released today show the sales total more than 2200 hectares of land previously owned by New Zealanders, in Gisborne, Wairoa and Whangarei.  Austrian count Johannes Trauttmansdorff-Weinsberg, who purchased two other sheep and beef farms for forestry conversion in August, is the purchaser of two of the latest properties. Another Austrian, Wolfgang Leitner, and a Swiss-German company, Kauri Forestry LP, have bought the other land.

Last month RNZ reported that more than 36,400ha of farmland has been sold .

Thomass ,where are you , have you given up trying to defend the indefensible . This government is a two faced shocker , is there anyone out there who hasn't been misled or lied to .

Censorship next , that's what's coming .

Nothing changes , same old same old ,  more and more hopeless government . This is a direct result of government policy , the  increased fuel taxes , increased housing costs , so much for helping the less well off , cindy hasn't got a clue . FIVE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY THREE THOUSAND .

'' Ministry of Social Development report revealed around 573,000 hardship allowances were given out in the September quarter, at the cost of $167 million. ''

With the history of failed infratructure planning it doesn't seem unreasonable if anyone has the political leverage to demand to go to the front of the queue. A 20 year package is going to survive a number of governments all wrapped up in ribbons and unchallenged? That's a good one.

As it happens, any decent solution would have rail also going through Mt Vic anyway. Just share a fecking tunnel. And the Basin can go, if you're dumb enough to put a stadium on / build non futureproofed roads around the site of an obvious future choke point you can't moan later about losing the history.
