I thought Madam Collins was looking into the investigation of the  leaker in the National Party ....

Bridges' expenses inquiry narrows down possible leakers

Jo Moir, Political Reporter

It is looking increasingly likely that the person who leaked Simon Bridges' expenses to the media was a National Party MP or staffer.

An inquiry has found no evidence that the speaker Trevor Mallard, his office or Parliamentary Service finance staff had anything to do with leaking the opposition leader's expenses, which significantly narrows down who could be responsible.

Mr Bridges has repeatedly insisted none of his MPs were responsible but now that Mr Mallard has all but cleared his own name, his office staff and the Parliamentary Service staff involved in the preparation of the expenses, the finger of blame is pointing to the National Party.

Mr Mallard initially called a Parliamentary inquiry into the leak but that was overtaken by political events.

His inquiry ended in August after RNZ revealed the person claiming to be both the leaker and a National MP contacted Mr Bridges and Mr Mallard pleading for it to be stopped for the sake of their mental health.

Subsequently, a National Party inquiry was launched - the findings are expected in the next week.

Paula Bennett, who is leading National's inquiry said: "The Speaker's inquiry, which he had publicly stated he was not having, is a matter for him. The National Party is conducting its own inquiry and will comment on that once it has concluded. The inquiry only received the final set of relevant information from Parliamentary Services on Friday."

Mr Mallard arranged a forensic investigation of emails and relevant databases connected to his office and those staff involved in the preparation of the expenses - about 20 staff in total.

KPMG, who carried it out, has concluded there is no evidence that Mr Mallard or any Parliamentary Service finance staff were responsible for the leak.

"On the basis of this independent review there is no evidence that staff in the office of the Speaker, Mr Speaker or Parliamentary Service finance and corporate staff released details of this quarterly expense disclosure report to any unauthorised parties,'' the report said.

As part of the inquiry, key words and phrases were searched which included 'expense claims', 'Simon Bridges', 'financials' and 'National Party'.

Along with emails and printing logs, text messages and calls to or from a certain number believed to be that of the leaker were also collated.

The National Party's own investigation is being led by PWC and Simpson Grierson.

It will consider both the original leak to Newshub and the subsequent text sent by someone citing mental health issues.

The period the investigation is looking at dates back to the time rumours about the National Party leadership under Bill English started circulating - barely two weeks later he was gone.

On 8 February, the caucus gathered in Tauranga for a retreat, which was hosted by Mr Bridges, who went on to become the leader.

PWC will conduct the forensic work and lawyers at Simpson Grierson will be responsible for filtering what information is and is not passed onto Mr Bridges and his deputy, Paula Bennett.

Mr Bridges has given an assurance that no communications between journalists and MPs, outside of the terms of reference of the inquiry, will be passed on to him.

Socialist Cindy is desperate to follow the UN mantra's.

Read into her speech and refer to the UN's  mantra Agenda 21. It appears that she is following it to the letter. Do some research on the net into Agenda 21 and Iclei.

NZ suffers to provide brag points for Ardern’s UN speech

I think I know now why Ardern made so many Captain’s calls and didn’t bother to follow due process.  She did it to provide bragging points for her speech to the UN which she may have considered a job interview of sorts.

The speech had little of substance when compared to President Trump’s speech. Her achievements were all Captain’s calls that signalled how virtuous little old New Zealand is while under her slipper of ” kindness.” quote.

In New Zealand we are determined to play our part.  We will not issue any further offshore oil and gas exploration permits.  We have set a goal of 100% renewable energy generation by 2035, established a green infrastructure fund to encourage innovation, and rolled out an initiative to plant one billion trees over the next 10 years.[…]

For us, that has meant taking action to address degradation, like setting standards to make our rivers swimmable, reducing waste and phasing out single-use plastic bags, right through to eradicating predators and protecting our biodiversity.[…]

If I could distil it down into one concept that we are pursuing in New Zealand it is simple and it is this.  Kindness. end quote.

Close analysis of her speech revealed the following:

She believes that a country should put ” Global” interests before it’s own self-interest and economic wealth for the “collective” good and for the sake of the environment. Quote.

[…] there is a hesitance we can ill afford. A calculation of personal cost, of self-interest. But this is not the only challenge where domestic self-interest is the first response, and where an international or collective approach has been diluted at best, or rejected at worst. […] the challenge I wish to issue today is this – together, we must rebuild and recommit to multilateralism. […]

The race to grow our economies and increase wealth makes us all the poorer if it comes at the cost of our environment. end quote.

There was a strong flavour of Socialism running through the entire speech. Quote.

The correct response to this is not to repeat mistakes of the past and be seduced by the false promises of protectionism.  Rather, we must all work to ensure that the benefits of trade are distributed fairly across our societies. […] end quote.

She spoke of building and sustaining international peace and security by defending an open, inclusive, and rules-based international order based on universal values (whatever those are.)

In contrast with patriotic president Trump, prime minister Ardern did not appear to love her country or be proud of it because of its unique culture and values. Instead, she took pride in being part of a collective. Quote.

I am an incredibly proud New Zealander, but much of that pride has come from being a strong and active member of our international community, not in spite of it. end quote

I have mentioned the United Nations Agenda 21 and they also have a later agenda Agenda 2030. One relates to Globalisation and the other which is virtually the same for a country.

Socialist Cindy is a Un disciple and over the past twelve months one can see she is following these agendas. This is very concerning indeed.

Hence a poverty agenda, stopping of the oil and gas in Taranaki etc etc. have a listen.

Jacinda’s incompetence shows again

by Christie

Jacinda-Ardern.jpg?w=619&ssl=1

The inexperience of this government is something that is constantly on show, even though they have been in power for a year now. They should be getting into their stride by now but it is not happening. Time and time again, they make silly mistakes that would have had the media screaming about incompetence if they had happened under John Key or Bill English. In contrast, this government gets a free ride all the time, although I suspect the free ride will be coming to an end really soon.

That may be just wishful thinking though.

A newspaper  reports that, once again, Jacinda has no head for the numbers. quote.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s calculation of how much extra tax Kiwis are paying at the petrol pump on Monday did not include the recent excise tax or Auckland’s Regional Fuel tax.

National Leader Simon Bridges said the Prime Minister has got this “badly wrong,” and has made a “staggering mistake.”

But a spokesman for the Prime Minister said her comments were “based on the most accurate information Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) had compiled at that time.” end quote.

The “most accurate information” that MBIE can come up with does not include recently imposed fuel taxes? Gee, it is not just the politicians that are incompetent then, is it? quote.

Between October 27, 2017 and September 28 this year, petrol prices have risen 39c, according to MBIE data – Ardern said just 6.8c of that increase was due to “taxes and levies.”

That 6.8c increase is made up of a 1.77c increase in Emissions Trading Scheme (EST) taxes and 5.04c of GST over the same period, MBIE data shows.

But the 10c a litre Auckland Regional Fuel Tax and 3.5c a litre fuel excise tax, introduced on September 30, were not included in the “taxes and levies” side of Ardern’s equation. end quote.

This is so seriously incompetent that you cannot help wondering if it was deliberate. With a fawning media, they may have thought they would get away with it. The risk of that strategy is that, if caught out, they would look incompetent.

Nah. I don’t believe that theory. Too clever for this mob by far. They are just plain incompetent. quote.

In a statement to the Herald, an MBIE’s spokeswoman said: “current methodology does not accommodate regional prices or regional fuel taxes” in their fuel price calculations. end quote.

So we are being fleeced at the pump but the Auckland regional fuel tax is not part of the fleecing? Okay. I get it…

No. I don’t. quote.

Our current methodology does not accommodate regional prices or regional fuel taxes. We are developing a new methodology to replace our existing methodology that will include regional retail price differences in its measure.” End quote.

Sounds like something straight out of “Yes, Minister” doesn’t it? Obfuscation on top of inexperience just looks stupid and sneaky. Oh, and explaining is losing, as we all know. quote.

As for the 3.5c excise tax – that came into effect on September 30 and the MBIE data Ardern was referring to was taken from between September 21-28, meaning it was not included in MBIE’s data either. end quote.

I could have sworn she held this press conference, blaming the fuel companies for ‘fleecing’ motorists on Monday, 8th October? So the data was over a week out of date?

John Key would never have got away with this level of sheer ineptitude. I can’t help wondering if the standards have fallen so low in the past year that this level of incompetence is all we expect nowadays. She has misled and misinformed the public and by and large, she has got away with it. Whichever way you look at it, she had either lied deliberately or has no clue what she is talking about. I choose the latter. She simply has no clue.

Inflation hits Kiwi pockets with prices rising 0.9 pct in last three months

Consumer price inflation rose by 0.9 per cent in the September quarter, driven by higher transport costs, making for a 1.9 gain over the year, Stats NZ said.

Market expectations were for a 0.7 per cent rise in the consumers price index over the quarter, for an annual rise of 1.7 per cent.

Over the September quarter, Statis NZ said the transport segment rose by 2.4 per cent, influenced by higher prices for petrol - up 5.5 per cent.

Housing and household utilities rose 1.1 per cent, influenced by higher prices for local authority rates (up 5.1 per cent), construction (up 1.3 per cent), and rentals for housing (up 0.4 per cent).

Food prices rose 0.6 per cent, influenced by higher prices for vegetables (up 11 per cent).

Talk about crapping in your own nest, Simple Simon had to have an inquiry into who leaked the report on his travel expenses. When Mallard ended his inquiry Simple Simon thought that Mallard was hiding something so jumped in like a fool and spent a fortune of tax payers funds on his own inquiry.

Simple Simon has opened a can of worms and has been shown to be a weak, stupid, fool. Now The Tories are having a shit fight and it is going to be great to watch.

Hey Ted now would be a good time for a Leaders' debate. :rcfe-happy-2:

Which ever way this goes Bridges has done us voters a favour, he might have crapped in his own personal nest but when you have a toxic turd like Ross in your midst it's better he is gone now before they are back governing in 2 years time . Bridges decision flushed Lee out and he is now unemployable , whether or not Bridges survives only time will tell but if he's gone not a problem and perhaps a positive , Cindy has only one advantage over Bridges and that's her speaking ability on screen , the Government she represents is incompetent .

Importing coal , homeless increasing , record food parcels , fuel costs going threw the roof , dollar collapsing , housing values decreasing , 200 teacher shortage oops now it's 800 , inflation taking off , it goes on .

My post was in reply to tripple alliance posting that "Cindy has only one advantage over Bridges" - Are you trying to tell me, right at this point in time,  that Jacinda Ardern is less intelligent than Simon Bridges????

Spilling the beans ....

The bean tin was empty.

Don't know what the future holds for Bridges but for this guy it's the dole , this mornings revelations have swung things Bridges way big time , just imagine what we would have had if Bridges hadn't pursued this , he has exposed  a very dangerous character and was probably working towards the top job .

The Ausses had a !!slightly!! similar situation with Dastyari , the Chinese were helping him out and he was helping them ,  Mr Dastyari gave Mr Huang counter-surveillance advice, saying they should leave their phones inside and go outside to speak. The Yuhu Group paid a $40,000 legal bill owed by Dastyari from his time as NSW Labor general secretary, after he was sued by an advertising company.

Wouldn't it be nice if Nat's/police audit Lee , Chinese donations are a part of this .
