Prime Minister denies NZ is hostile to free speech

Newshub poll: Should far right speakers Stefan Molyneux and Lauren Southern have been allowed into New Zealand?

Our Prime Minister Ms Ardern is back from maternity leave, and has wasted no time at all lying to the media about how we think.  This from Skynews:   Quote:

NZ Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has welcomed the cancellation of a planned event featuring right-wing activists Stefan Molyneux and Lauren Southern.

The pair, who are ardent critics of Islam, multiculturalism and some facets of gender theory, were due to speak at Auckland’s Powerstation but the event was cancelled at late notice after the venue was revealed on social media.

The right-wing activists have spent the past month travelling through Australia on a speaking tour that has been met with violent clashes between police and protestors.

Ms Southern says the cancellation shows New Zealand is ‘hostile’ to free speech. Ms Ardern rejected the characterisation, saying her country is not ‘hostile’ to free speech, but ‘hostile’ to Ms Southern’s views.  End of quote.

That is a complete lie and Ms Ardern has absolutely no right to make that statement on behalf of the country.

The country is not ‘hostile’ to Ms Southern’s views.

A Newshub poll shows 77% of the people surveyed supported Lauren Southern and Stefan Molyneux coming to New Zealand.  While it is a small sample size, 77% is an overwhelming majority.

New Zealanders wanted to hear what they had to say.  New Zealanders wanted to listen to them, have an open debate, and form their own opinions about what was said.

Sadly they were shut down by a small minority of vocal nasty bullies that seem incapable of understanding what free speech actually means.

Free speech means everyone has the right to say whatever they like, about whatever subject they like, as long as they don’t deliberately incite violence.  You don’t have to agree with what is said.  You don’t have to like what is said.

You don’t even have to listen to what is said.  The only thing you must do is allow it to be said.

But because a faction of this country had already decided they didn’t agree with the speakers, they denied everyone else’s right to listen.

image_from_ios.jpg?resize=630%2C344&ssl=

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern

There is nothing at all to be proud of.

What has happened is shameful, and I am fearful of where we are headed.

Because there is more to this.

In the ‘left-wing tabloid’, the NZ Herald, Andrew Little is also telling lies.  Quote:

Little said Molyneux and Southern “clearly have misled people” in trying to secure the Powerstation venue.

“That’s one kind of freedom of speech you don’t get to have and hold up with any kind of moral weight.”  End of quote.

If Andrew Little had made any effort at all to exercise his right to listen freely, and had bothered to watch the interview Lauren and Stefan gave after their event was cancelled, he would know that Powerstation did know who was speaking, and there was no attempt to mislead them.

It seems our government is determined to lie and mislead New Zealanders to shut down our right to free speech.

Of course the media labelling of them as "alt-right" or "far right" is completely false if you follow their message. They are actually very moderate and only enunciate views that were mainstream before the left-wing press decided the identity politics of LGBT, Muslims,Climate change alarmists, Socialists, Feminazis etc should be our Western democracy model.

I watched these two on an Ausse program , to describe them as altright is a exaggeration . One of their problems is they made a movie about recent events in South Africa , the murder of 400 south African white farmers last year and a couple of days ago  the south African government changed the constitution to allow the seizure of white farmers land without compensation ..

A blatant raciest policy that must be very embarrassing for the leftys in this country , those who protested all those years ago , phil goff , trevor mallard , and the mintos etc of this world  , all being exposed as complete fools , will this lot come out and support these white victim's of raciest policy's ?? NAH . Luckily we have the Ausses in WA pushing hard to allow some of these refugees to enter Australia and Russia is currently processing 15000 to enter the country .

The bottom line is the left in NZ are being made complete fools of by he actions of the south African government and they don't like it so the answer is shut down free speech  , it's not going to work .

Take the day off,dearie

by Christie

We only pay you half a million bucks to do the job.

Screen-Shot-2018-08-05-at-10.22.53-AM.pn

The fluff pieces continue. Stacey Kirk on Stuff tells us how poor Jacinda will hardly ever be able to take a day off. Quote:

In theory it is – every new parent in New Zealand knows how hard the job is and would understand if she needed a break, or simply wanted a day with her child. But only in the good times.

If the economy starts to slow – as some are warning it might – if a minister causes a mess and she’s not there to deal with it, if services start to buckle and her reassuring voice is absent; people will understand a need for time off, but they won’t give any leeway at the ballot box. end quote.

Have you been living under a rock, Stacey? The economy is stagnating spectacularly – if that isn’t a complete oxymoron – and everyone seems to know it except you. Ministers creating a mess? Where would you like me to start? Twyford? David Clark? Andrew Little? They have all been behaving like lunatics while she has been on leave. quote:

Our Prime Minister is a classic Type A. She feels the weight of the job, she is her own harshest critic. She personally won’t want to give the job of Prime Minister anything less than her all and a punishing international travel schedule in the coming months is evidence of that. end quote.

The travel schedule is entirely her own choice. She does not have to go to New York to parade Neve at the United Nations. And if she really was her own harshest critic, she would have resigned months ago. quote:

Just as every mother will know how hard it is for Ardern to be a new mum, they’ll know how hard it is for themselves, doing it on just a fraction of the resources the PM has at her disposal.

And while Ardern is conscious of the fact that she doesn’t want to set unrealistic standards for other mothers, this also has to work for the sake of the working mum’s cause. There’s an awful lot of support out there, but there’s also a hell of a lot of judgement. end quote.

Ardern is not the first ever working mother. Not by a long way. So why is this article suggesting that the fate of all working mothers rests on whether or not she makes a success of it? And yes, she has far more resources than almost all other working mothers, most of whom have to put their child into some form of daycare, which can be very harrowing. She doesn’t have to worry about that. Quote:

Only a handful of people know how hard the job of being Prime Minister is. Ardern has a new responsibility in raising and protecting the wellbeing of a tiny human.

But when the job is running the country, it’s more than just an administrative or executive role – it’s protecting the wellbeing of 4.8 million other humans. end quote.

Are we all dependent on Jacinda? I never realised New Zealand was a totalitarian state. Obviously, we are more like North Korea than I thought. quote:

The caucus has a nickname for their leader – endearingly, Mother of Dragons. In their minds it might be down to her fierce iron grip, that balances out the “compassionate face of Government”.

But it may as well be that without Ardern, the rebirth of the party would not have happened. Labour is Jacinda. Their polling is strong because of her and not much else. Without her, for all the power they have now, the dragons would still grow weak. end quote.

I refuse to go along with the comparison between Jacinda and Daenerys Targaryen simply because I don’t want anything to put me off Game of Thrones. There is truth in what she says though. Jacinda is Labour’s biggest asset. Take her away and Labour loses its appeal completely.

And that is why we have to keep having puff piece after puff piece, to keep the great unwashed public in her thrall. Once the appeal has gone, then so has her government.

Jacinda chose the path she has taken. She knew what she was in for. Most of us would just like to see her get on with the job we are all paying her to do. If she can’t do it, then let us find someone who can.

Rest easy everyone: Jacinda’s back.

by Christie

Jacinda-1.jpg?w=620&ssl=1

We’re all okay guys. Jacinda’s back and she’s not going to let pesky things like business confidence get in the way of her reality. Even though falling business confidence is a reality, it is not part of HER reality. So that’s okay then. Stuff reports: quote

Jacinda Ardern says she will push back against surveys about weak business confidence, with a focus on measures showing the economy is healthy.

On Monday afternoon Treasury issued a warning that a combination of a cooling housing market and falling business confidence meant its forecasts for Crown revenue were at risk. end quote

Those blasted kids at Treasury spoiling the party again. Someone needs to get them under control. quote:

“Although we think growth held up in the June quarter, weaker confidence, in conjunction with other data, highlight the risk that growth over the coming fiscal year may be weaker-than-forecast in the Budget,” Treasury said in a statement.

Grant Robertson’s first Budget saw Treasury forecasts that the economy would continue to grow at around 3 per cent in each of the next few years, giving scope for the Government to increase spending as debt as a share of the economy fell. end quote.

Growth may have held up in the June quarter but with the problems in the construction sector and the blindsiding of the oil and gas industry, confidence is now at new lows. Jacinda simply does not understand that a loss in confidence means a lack of investment, a reduction of new hiring, and a ‘batten down the hatches’ attitude from business. Growth will fall significantly simply because lower confidence means lower activity. She simply does not understand this. quote.

At the time the forecasts were branded as highly optimistic by economists, who warned that a fall in business investment could see growth – and therefore Government revenue – miss the target. end quote.

Those pesky kids in Treasury did warn that the government figures were too optimistic – and got branded as ‘kids’ because of it. quote:

In July, an ANZ survey on business confidence showed the lowest reading since the global financial crisis.

But Ardern said she would focus on measures showing the economy was still performing well. end quote.

In other words, she’s going to stick her fingers in her ears and go – “La-la-la-la – I can’t hear you”, and all will be well.

Have you ever come across a more hopeless and incompetent prime minister? And Tracey Watkins thinks she will be the saviour of the economy? On what planet? quote:

“We have a survey that’s telling us some of the business perceptions that exist, but alongside that we also have strong forecast growth”, low unemployment, a Government surplus and a spending boost from July 1 from the families package, Ardern said.

“I’m interested in the reality of what our economy is doing and how it is performing.” end quote.

In other words, we will concentrate on the reports that say what we want to hear, and we will ignore the rest. She is not the mother of dragons, she is the mother of ostriches. quote:

Asked if she believed that the Government had made mistakes which contributed to lower business confidence, Ardern pointed to political bias in the confidence surveys. Independent economists have acknowledged a disconnect between business confidence and economic growth under past Labour Governments.

“When I look back at how business confidence has tracked in the past, there is a correlation between Labour Government and what happens with business confidence, that sits in direct contract to how our economy has performed under a Labour Government. end quote.

Oh, here we go again. Everything is fine. It is just that business hates Labour. That’s why Ebert Construction has collapsed. Its directors hate Labour, so collapsed their company just to spite the government. quote:

National leader Simon Bridges said Ardern “is in denial” about the direct impact between her Government’s decisions and plummeting business confidence.

“The Government should recognise the impact its bad decisions are having and take action to ease the concerns and give Kiwi businesses the confidence to invest to grow and hire more New Zealanders. If the Government doesn’t the concern will continue to grow and New Zealanders will miss out.” end quote.

She is in denial. She can’t fix it with fairy dust, so she pretends it isn’t happening. quote.

Treasury said that while there had been positive recent news for the economy, such as a 7.5 per cent increase in new dwelling consents in the June quarter, up from 6.2 per cent in the March quarter, the risks appeared to be for lower growth.

“Risks to our growth forecasts are rising as the housing market cools, business confidence weakens, and international trade tensions rise,” the statement said. End quote.

So, according to Jacinda, everyone in business, and those ‘kids’ in Treasury have got it wrong, and she has got it right. I understand that the government needs to remain upbeat about the economy or it risks making things even worse, but it is very noticeable nowadays that even Grant Robertson no longer seems to be peddling the ‘business hates Labour’ line. Reality seems to be starting to sink in for the finance minister. However it simply does not fit with the prime minister’s narrative so it doesn’t exist. That is what we are dealing with here. But, don’t worry dear people. Never fear, Jacinda has got this. We can all rest easy.

The dollar is down to a two and a half year low and free speech is being shut down in this country but this is what MSM provide us with. An idiot hammering at 4am in the morning. Newshub staff may be impressed but I doubt if the neighbours are. This is trash fluff by MSM.

Time for an end to the MSM fluff pieces

by Christie om

jacinda-ardern-clarke-gayford-2.jpg?w=52

New Zealand’s ‘first man’ Clarke Gayford

Newshub has run a completely pathetic piece, trying to tell everyone how awesome and manly Clarke Gayford really is.

The thing is, I don’t care. I don’t care if he is manly or effeminate. He is, quite simply, not on my radar at all.

But that doesn’t stop the MSM trying to make a story out of absolutely nothing. quote:

Jacinda Ardern’s partner Clarke Gayford has proven wrong those who doubted him and constructed a deck outside his house while in the midst of new parenthood.

News presenter Amanda Gillies has remarked in June that Mr Gayford was “dreaming” if he believed he could build his deck once the baby had arrived.

But six weeks after baby Neve was born Mr Gayford proudly showed off video evidence of the deck, which included a step, and even got the praise of The AM Show’s sports presenter Mark Richardson. end quote.

Really?

First of all – are we sure that it wasn’t erected by a builder, rather than Clarke himself? And secondly – I know this might seem heartless, but…who gives a rat’s ass? Really?

Sorry, moderators. Forgive me. (These guys are super heroes. One strike and you are toast.) But seriously. How is this even news? quote:

Mr Gayford admitted the construction took place at some funny hours, saying in the video that he was out in the backyard with the deck at 4am.

He also sacrificed “sleep and personal grooming” to build it. Ms Ardern said she would have to offer an apology to her neighbours for the building as Mr Gayford had often been outside hammering late into the night. end quote.

He’s been hammering late into the night, has he? Interesting. So would someone tell me why I should care? Or why this is even worthy of being published by Newshub?

No one else’s partner has ever been hammering late into the night? Or early in the morning? Really?

The MSM seem desperate to promote Clarke Gayford as New Zealand’s ‘first man’, but the truth is that he is simply nobody. Bronagh Key was never known a the First Lady, so exactly why should Clarke be seen as the First Man? Denis Thatcher was never known as the First Man. Nobody ever has been described as such, as far as I know. Until now.

The Americans have the First Lady, but that is it. No first child, no first pet. No first plumber, no first street cleaner. The First Lady title is a particularly significant one, as she is expected to do a lot for charity and to support children in particular. It is a lovely, traditional role, that Michelle Obama and Melania Trump have carried out well. Clarke Gayford has no such role in society. He is nobody.

Paddles had a Twitter page and was called the First Cat. I assume this was done by Jacinda and her entourage, as nobody else seemed to think it was significant. In fact, no one cared. Neve also has a Twitter page, which describes her as the First Baby, but again, this title has been invented by Jacinda and her entourage. Neve is a baby. Paddles was a cat. Clarke Gayford is the prime minister’s partner. That is it. Sorry, but they are not special. They just think they are.

I always used to like the way our premiers kept a low profile and kept their families in the background. Jacinda does nothing, has nothing to offer, and plays it up as if she was part of a circus. I guess it is true that those who achieve a lot are usually modest about it. Those who achieve very little crow from rooftops.

Jacinda Ardern has grossly overestimated her significance in the public eye. She is the prime minister. She wasn’t even elected with a proper mandate. Her partner, her daughter and her (late) cat have no more significance than Max Key, Mary English or…… actually, I cannot remember when a prime minister tried to give a pet special status. How arrogant and conceited she is to think the rest of us actually care!

But then again, they are all useful to her. When things are looking bad, all she has to do is pull out a ‘homemade’ deck, a ‘first’ baby, or a dead pet. Rest in peace, Paddles.

This is what happens when you have a prime minister with no substance. But in the end, Jacinda, you will be found out. What is it they said in The Knight’s Tale? You have been weighed. You have been measured. And you have been found wanting.

You have definitely been found wanting.

Eugenie Sage and the Greens are banning your plastic bags and now coming for your cats. Funny how they want to ban one type of pussy and want to take ownership of another according to another Green in Marama Davidson. The Greens want to control every part of your life including what pets you can have.

Message to Eugenie Sage: ‘Hands Off Our Cxxs’

by Christie

2138.jpg?resize=630%2C473&ssl=1

Newshub reports: quote:

Conservation Minister Eugenie Sage wants Kiwis to be reintroduced to urban Wellington – and she’s suggested locals should stop owning cats in order to achieve the goal.

The community collective Predator Free Miramar, led by Dan Henry, is having success – with backyard traps making a big dent in the pest population.

“We’ve caught 1500 rats in a year, and another 1450 mice,” Mr Henry says.

But the Conservation Minister has suggested there’s another predator that needs to be dealt with: cats.

“I think gradually we’ll see people recognise that having wildlife thrive will mean having cats inside – and when your cat dies, then potentially not replacing it.” end quote.

Who exactly will benefit from the introduction of kiwi in Wellington? They are notoriously retiring creatures, so nobody will ever see them, even if they are there. I’m really not sure why she thinks that an urban area is a suitable habitat for kiwi. I would have thought they would be much better off in the bush areas a bit further away from the suburbs.

This all started with Gareth Morgan, of course, and now we have the inevitable clamour to take away more personal freedoms. It won’t end well for cat lovers. quote:

Ms Sage believes people have a tough decision to make.

“Often people have a choice. Is it the native birds and wildlife, like the lizards, insects they want to thrive? Or is it the cat?”

Her comments came as she announced more than $3 million in funding to groups aiming to make the capital predator-free, with the ambitious goal of bringing kiwis back to urban Wellington.

“It’s not about turning the clock back to the 1800s,” says Predator Free Wellington project director James Willcocks. end quote

No, you are quite right. It isn’t. People were free to keep cats in the 1800s. Unlike today. quote.

“It’s about demonstrating we can live in a city, have pets, with a flourishing biodiversity.”

So is it wild kiwis or cats? The Conservation Minister is backing kiwis, but the public’s choice will likely be a bit more contentious. end quote.

But that is not true, is it? It is not about living in a city with pets and a ‘flourishing biodiversity’. It is about living in a city without pets. I thought that was the whole point.

First, let me say that I completely support the culling of wild or feral cats. Horrible creatures that do no end of harm.

But the problem for Ms Sage is that she is missing something really important. Cats don’t just kill birds. They kill rats and mice as well. Get rid of the cats, and the rat population will flourish. That will be just great for the bird population, won’t it?

Cats are nocturnal. Birds are (mostly) not. So if cats are allowed to sleep during the day and then go out at night, they will do very little damage to the bird population but will reduce the number of pests significantly. That is a win/win, surely?

It is not, of course, because Ms Sage is targeting the kiwi particularly which are, as we all know, also nocturnal. So everyone has to get rid of their pets because the kiwi numbers in Wellington MIGHT grow as a result? Even though the rat population will grow exponentially at the same time?

Ms Sage is miaowing up the wrong tree here. The bird population is better off with cats around, particularly if owners become aware of the problem, and keep their cats indoors during daylight hours. Now that would be a win/win, and is almost certainly achievable.

The Greens seem to be obsessed with words beginning with ‘C’ this week.  Here is another ‘C’ word for you. Cull. Don’t believe all the gentle rhetoric. Pet cats are on their way out. The Marxists have spoken. That is how it will be. We mere mortals have no chance against that.

Haumaha debacle getting worse and worse for the government

by CS

Jacinda-Ardern.jpg?w=620&ssl=1

The Haumaha debacle is getting worse and worse, and it seems now set to embroil the prime minister as well: Quote:

Police have confirmed they did receive an allegation of bullying on a joint project with the Justice Ministry headed by Wally Haumaha.

In Parliament today, it was claimed Mr Haumaha, who is now a deputy police commissioner, bullied three women during the project.

The Justice Ministry said it raised problems about behaviour and the management of the 2016 project directly with a high-ranking officer and expected the police to deal with it.

Police have a different version and say while they did get a complaint about bullying, it was not from an employee of any of the three agencies involved.

They say they went back to Justice and Corrections for more information but none was forthcoming, so they left it at that.

They are now urging any of the women who want to make a formal complaint to come forward.

This is just the latest twist in the inquiry into Mr Haumaha’s appointment as deputy commissioner.

[…]

In Parliament this afternoon, National Party deputy leader Paula Bennett wanted to know how the government would respond to the latest claims.

“Will the inquiry cover new allegations … of intimidation by Wally Haumaha to other public servants who were working with him?”

In response, senior minister Grant Robertson said any bullying of public servants was unacceptable.

“The inquiry has been set up to look into whether or not all relevant information was available in the appointment of Mr Haumaha – on the face of it it would [be covered].

“Those allegations fit with in that category of the terms of reference.”

Ms Bennett had a further question to Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern about other departments involved.

“Will she be asking the chief executives of Corrections and Justice whether they have had reports from senior female employees that they wished not to be in the same room as Wally Haumaha?”

On behalf of Ms Ardern, Mr Robertson told the House there would be follow up with those chief executives about these new allegations.

Ms Bennett then asked whether the public could have confidence in the police leadership.

“When they either didn’t know, or didn’t act, on issues with Wally Haumaha working with other public servants?”

Mr Robertson said he could not comment on that, except to say the alleged behaviour took place in 2016, and that he was “not aware” of all of the information passed to department heads, or indeed ministers at the time.

Speaking outside the House, Police Minister Stuart Nash said: “I think there’s a process around natural justice”.

“These allegations at this stage, as far as I’m aware, there is no formal complaint of bullying that has been made, until that has been made then these are simply just that – allegations.” End quote.

The prime minister is upset that allegations are being drip fed into the public arena. God knows why. This is how a hit job is run, and she should know by now it is how politics is played: Quote:

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern declined to comment on the Facebook banter between Nash and Haumaha.

“I’m hugely frustrated to be in a situation where an appointment has been made and now we’re having information being drip fed out, which should have been made available at the time of the appointment. That’s why we’re undertaking this work,” said Ardern, referring to the inquiry.

The Cabinet is still considering candidates to conduct the inquiry after the original reviewer, Pauline Kingi, resigned last week amid revelations by the Herald that she had endorsed Haumaha 23 times on the professional networking website LinkedIn.

Haumaha’s links to New Zealand First have also dogged the inquiry – overseen by Internal Affairs Minister Tracey Martin, a NZ First MP – although the PM has downplayed any suggestions of a conflict of interest.

One of the three women who walked out of police headquarters – and did not return – is now planning to make a formal complaint about Haumaha’s alleged behavior.

She says the trio raised the matter with their respective managers, which is why they kept working on the project from the national office of the Justice Ministry.

However, she was never asked to make a formal complaint and the women believed their managers would handle it on their behalf. End quote.

There was a cock-up, but it appears that the appointment was in the hands of the prime minster herself. There is now what appears to be a cover-up underway. David Farrar points out the problem Jacinda Ardern faces: Quote:

The Deputy Police Commissioner is basically appointed by the Prime Minister. What if it transpires he was not the top ranked candidate, but Ardern appointed him regardless? End quote.

No wonder there appears to be a cover-up and the prime minister is “hugely frusrtrated”. She’s the boss and she is exposed.

Rodney Hide deals to Jacinda

by Christie

Jacinda-Ardern.jpg?w=620&ssl=1

Our wonderful prime minister is so strong on business and the economy that she insists that she knows better than business leaders and that there is no reason for them to be downcast. The economy is doing just fine. She knows this, and she just refuses to accept any other view, because… she knows this.

Well, Rodney Hide, writing for the NBR (sorry, it is behind a paywall, so not much point in putting up a link) happens to disagree with her. quote:

Memo to the PM: Leave business alone

The Prime Minister has crashed my confidence in the new government to a new low, says Rodney Hide.

Jacinda Ardern said it herself on becoming prime minister: “Capitalism’s … a blatant failure.”

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern had this to say just before returning to work: “I absolutely believe our agenda will build the economy, will make sure businesses are in a position to grow and prosper because I need that economic growth to be able to lift the wellbeing of all New Zealanders.”

With those words the prime minister collapsed my confidence in the new government to a new low. end quote.

And mine. And every thinking person, who knows how capitalism has raised literally millions of people out of poverty, but at the same time, socialism has driven millions of people into poverty and despair. Quote:

The prime minister doesn’t just “believe” her agenda will build the economy, she “absolutely believes” it will.

Memo to Jacinda Ardern: The depth of your belief is not what counts. It’s what you do that matters. end quote.

Lots of people believed that the earth was flat. How did that work out? quote:

The ban on oil and gas exploration, proposed changes to labour law, and ramshackle political management add to costs and business uncertainty.

That’s what’s causing business confidence to slump. end quote.

Well, it is certainly having an effect. But Jacinda knows better, of course. quote:

Indeed, stating you “absolutely believe” your policies are good for business only deepens the worry.

Good policy is not achieved by feeling and believing but by analysis and understanding.

Putting the costs up of employing people means fewer people employed.

Banning an industry without advice or understanding spooks investors. Chaotic and incoherent government erodes confidence. end quote.

Unlike Jacinda, I have been in business. Everything that the government does affects your prospects. Employment law, taxation policy, trade agreements… everything that affects the economy affects business. Everything. quote:

Your fervent belief in policies that are causing angst only reinforces the view you lack understanding and won’t listen and learn. Instead of “absolutely believing,” better that you acknowledge, at least, that there’s been some bumps and that your dictate banning oil and gas exploration wasn’t policymaking at its finest.

That would be helpful. To believe that policies bad for business are “absolutely” good for business is not comforting.

The policies are bad enough but to learn you think they are good, suggests more are to come. end quote.

And Grant Robertson still bats away all claims about plummeting business confidence as business hating Labour governments. They probably do, but if this one is anything to go by, there is a good reason for that. quote:

And while I am it, businesses are not labouring away in the marketplace for your benefit. You saying that you “need that economic growth to be able to lift the wellbeing of all New Zealanders” suggests everyone is working and investing for a return that you are going to grab for your political objectives.

The building of the economy should be the ends, not the means to a political purpose.

Why should people work and invest, if their proceeds are to be used by you?  Indeed, how can government invest a dollar taken from business better than that business would?

It can’t, of course.

And we are back to why business confidence is down. Your government doesn’t understand business, doesn’t think it works, and believes that regional development, housing, tree planting, and just about everything else, need money taken from business, channelled through government and dished out by politicians.

You said it yourself on becoming prime minister: “Capitalism’s … a blatant failure.”

The only surprise is that there is surprise at the slump in business confidence and that it hasn’t slumped lower. end quote.

Rodney, you are completely correct, but like the rest of us, you are bashing your head against a brick wall, because Jacinda knows best. Unlike Helen Clark, who started out with a winter of discontent in the year 2000, Jacinda is too arrogant to back down. She is destroying the business sector in this country, and she doesn’t care. Actually, let me rephrase that. She truly doesn’t know it.

We used to have a wonderful country that punched above its weight in just about everything it did. Now, thanks to this government, and mostly to Jacinda, we are in serious trouble. We can’t build enough houses. We attack businesses that provide jobs and exports. She has even been so insightful as to say that we are still doing better than Venezuela. Gee. Aren’t we lucky?

If our prime minister is comparing us to Venezuela, instead of Australia, Britain, France and the US, we really are in trouble. But here we are. Whatever else did you expect? Comrades?

No doubt about it , this governments policy's and lack of understanding of what makes business tick is hurting .

I believe capitalism is to blame for our current predicament , it's been successful for so long that many of the younger people have had a very easy ride and as each new generation wants change the only way for them to go is to move left and that's what's happened . It won't last long , the fall in the dollar will be a harsh lesson for some . The big winners from a weaker dollar will be the despised (by the left)  dairy farmers , sheep and beef farmers even thoroughbred breeders will win , then manufacturers will , to a lessor extent win and the LOSERS , FIRST PRIZE  to jacindas best buddy's the less well off , they are about to get hammered with the unavoidable big increase in the cost of living . Let's hope this lot continue on as they are , they will be gone at the next election .

I see Andrew Littles chat with Dutton about the Ausses sending crims home came to nothing , he was told in no uncertain terms where to go , another failure .

It seems we are about to pay the price of winstons personal hatred of some in the National party , she's about to hit the fan .

Earlier in the week the Gov of reserve bank more or less pledged to hold interest rates until 2020 , unusual I thought ,  this guy is a lefty at heart which gives me real concerns , the position is supposed to be impartial . Tonight the real clanger , it seems property in AK is under more pressure than anyone admits , he has come out and said , don't worry if it drops , Aucklanders have plenty of equity in their property's so it won't be much of a problem , WHY THE COMMENT ? alarm bells ringing , if values drop 15% that's a real hit for established owners and for many new owners their deposit wiped out and they will have no actual equity in their houses . Timing is everything and this govt is completely out of step , next week the ban on foreign buyers will be passed in parliament , a double whammy for peoples housing values and the other effect will be the collapse of the house building industry , well done Jacinda and winston .

Now bloke you are correct , National centre right , labour was centre left , not any more , hard left socialism , and logic has been tossed out the window , just give the plastic bag ban a little thought , it makes no sense the way they are handling it , ideology over logic , housing the same , flatten existing values then expect new property's to be built , dreamers .

Ardern still lecturing business

by Christie

jacinda.jpg?w=620&ssl=1

There have been a couple of articles recently that are critical of Jacinda Ardern’s ‘get with the programme’ attitude to business.

First, Matthew Hooton warns that the confidence crisis will cost thousands of jobs. quote:

The current business confidence crisis is set to become an investment crisis and full-scale economic downturn.

Already Treasury has cut its growth forecasts while Statistics NZ reports unemployment is up. Inevitably, welfare spending will rise above budget, forecast tax-takes will fall and the Government’s projected debt-to-GDP ratio will increase.

The outlook risks being catastrophic not just to the thousands who will lose their jobs but also to the Government’s re-election hopes.

Jacinda Ardern and Grant Robertson have spent the week denying there is a crisis while also insisting it’s everyone else’s fault.

Business confidence is plunging, not just in absolute terms, but also relative to the rest of the world.

Two years ago, New Zealand businesspeople were the second-most confident in the developed world.

Now they are the second-least confident, with pessimism as bad as during the Global Financial Crisis.

True to form, the Beehive’s response has included smearing those who collect the data and participate in the surveys. Trade Minister David Parker has led that charge, saying the studies are “junk”, a “survey of the emotions” and “the vibe of a self-selected subset of CEOs”.

The real problem is that Ardern, Robertson and the rest of the Labour crew were either incapable, too lazy or too distracted to do any policy work during nine years in opposition.

The Government’s 100-odd working groups are designed to fill that gap, but their combined effect is to leave every area of policy open to radical change but with no real indication of the nature of that change or when it might happen.

We have no idea what taxes might be dreamed up by the Tax Working Group, let alone which will be implemented or at what rate.

The proposed independent Climate Change Commission means Parker and Nick Smith’s Emissions Trading Scheme might be replaced with something better or worse. end quote.

Exactly. Too much uncertainty is very damaging to business confidence and with over 100 working groups making recommendations, no one knows what the outcomes will be.

Actually, we have a fair idea of what the outcome of the Tax Working Group will be, and it won’t be pretty.

Over on Stuff, Tracey Watkins seems to have changed her tune from only a week ago, when she wrote that Jacinda would be the saviour of the economy. I guess it is true that a week is a long time in politics. Quote:

Ardern and her Finance Minister, Grant Robertson, are doubling down on the message that it’s time for business to get with the programme rather than whinge from the sidelines.

The line from the 9th floor of the Beehive seems to be that it’s the “messaging” that’s the problem, not the programme.

This is not quite in the league of Michael Cullen’s infamous retort to business in 2000 over the repeal of the controversial Employment Contracts Act. end quote.

That would be : “We won, you lost, eat that” I take it? That was incredible arrogance from the wonderful Michael Cullen, when he, like  this government had not yet been in power for a year. quote:

Labour governments and business are always going to be philosophically at odds over where to strike the balance between business and workers’ interests.

But there is a point when those interests cross over – and that point is now, as plunging business confidence casts a pall over the wider economy as well.

You can’t have business confidence drop to levels not seen since the Christchurch earthquakes or global financial crisis and not expect there to be some fallout. end quote.

But that is what Jacinda is trying to tell us. Business owners are just being mean and judgy. quote:

But the line that the business confidence surveys are largely bunkum is getting dangerously close to looking pig-headed now that Treasury and the Reserve Bank have joined the chorus of voices warning that falling business confidence is going to have a real and concrete effect on the economy.end quote.

Dangerously close to looking pig-headed? I think we have long passed the line there. quote:

It’s not just the effect on jobs, or revenue, or exports, or any number of other things that could be caught up in the backwash of falling business confidence – though those will all have an impact on the state of the Government”s books just as it is facing mounting pressures in the public sector.[…]

The Government is playing with fire then if it thinks it can just ride it out.

It’s not just the effect on jobs, or revenue, or exports, or any number of other things that could be caught up in the backwash of falling business confidence – though those will all have an impact on the state of the Government”s books just as it is facing mounting pressures in the public sector.

So if the next election turns into a referendum on the economy – and it  probably will – Labour could lose. end quote

Why do you think I keep on talking about it? quote:

And Labour may not be able to bank on Ardern’s popularity being sufficient to pull them over the line again.

A post on the Stuff Facebook page featuring Key talking about economic confidence attracted more than 60,000 views.

A Facebook post of Ardern being interviewed by Stuff‘s Ali Mau about her return to work after giving birth got about 50,000 views.

So Key talking about the economy still has massive cut-through. end quote.

Which suggests that people are getting tired of the puff pieces already. Or are worried about their jobs and mortgages. Or both. quote:

Ardern is promising a big economic speech later in August, meanwhile, and there will  probably be a policy announcement to give it some weight.

But whether that takes the shape of another olive branch to business or more of what Robertson delivered in his speech to a finance audience earlier this week – a defence of the programme – remains to be seen.

As too does the willingness of business to meet the Government half way – which there hasn’t been much evidence of yet. end quote.

If her ‘big economic speech’ is anything like the one about banning plastic bags, made in a primary school while breastfeeding, then it will not have much impact, whatever the content is about.

It gives me heart to see Jacinda’s popularity showing signs of waning. The more the MSM push the Madonna image and write puff pieces, the more concerned ordinary people become about their economic future. They need to feel that someone is in control. The more Jacinda turns up to important announcements clutching a baby, the less confident people will feel. She will just make it obvious to all and sundry that she is incapable of doing the job of prime minister, and that they should hand the reins to someone else.

Before that happens though, thousands of people will find themselves out of work. That is what happens when business refuses to ‘get with the programme’.

The Green party veneer has peeled off

by Deb

C8zIuCYU0AAD1IF.jpg?resize=630%2C918&ssl

The Green Party Magazine cover

The Green party is on the front cover of the North and South magazine from May 2017. All shiny in suits and pretty dresses, looking slick and professional.

In the text of the article, Gareth Hughes talks about the Green party image.  Quote:

Hughes joined the party as an 18-year-old and was one of the youngest MPs when he entered Parliament in 2010 – the first Green MP who hadn’t served with original leaders Donald and Fitzsimons. And the changes since then have been marked, he says. “I still remember the days when we’d have papier-mache sculptures at Green Party events. You’re more likely now to see an ultra-slick PowerPoint presentation with economic analysis and footnotes. Now when you think about a Green, you think about someone in a suit, someone associated with a solar panel or wind turbine, less so with bells and Morris dancing. The change in image has been both organic and a pragmatic effort to escape being typecast. “We want to be debating the issues, not what we’re wearing,” says Hughes. “We want to be taken seriously because of the ideas and not have doubt cast on our credibility because of some old-fashioned stereotype. So it was a conscious effort to make sure we had the best brand. But not because we’re trying to sell soapflakes – we’re trying to sell really important ideas in a political battle for values and visions”.  End of quote.

Let’s take a look at how the Green party of today stacks up against those values and visions from just over a year ago. A year that has seen the Green party move from having little influence, to now being in a confidence and supply agreement with the Labour party and New Zealand First.

Metiria Turei

Metiria admitted to defrauding the Social Welfare department while a beneficiary.
Here’s what North & South had to say about her then:

[…] Turei has been a strong part of making the Greens more acceptable and attractive to voters…[…]  End of quote.

Until she admitted to benefit fraud. That made her very unacceptable and unattractive to voters, yet she initially dug in her fingers and toes and hung on for dear life, hoping to ride out the storm. Eventually, common sense prevailed, and she resigned, no longer a member of the party.

Golriz Ghahraman

Golriz’s once impressive CV has been called into question many times since being selected for the government. Firstly her misrepresentation that she was ‘putting on trial world leaders for abusing their power’ when in reality she defended war criminal Simon Bikindi for inciting genocide.

From North and South:  Quote:

Every time Golriz Gharahman steps into Auckland’s international airport, she remembers the dash her family made down the escalators there in 1990 to claim political asylum.  End of quote.

Very emotive and dramatic, but now called into question by Australian immigration lawyer Simon Jeans. She has not answered those accusations, except to ban Simon from following her on Twitter. A more effective response would have been to provide proof of her claims and end the controversy, but she has not yet done that. We can only speculate as to why that is.

Marama Davidson

Marama was elected as co-leader in April 2018 and had been very quiet until recently. She threw her support behind the group trying to prevent Lauren Southern and Stefan Molyneux from speaking on their recent visit to New Zealand. A New Zealand politician protesting against the free speech movement.  During the protest rally in Aotea Square, she dropped the C bomb three times in her speech, and later went on what can only be described as a rant about reclaiming the C word ‘for women’. When the co-leader of a political party that is supporting the government on confidence and supply, states her ambition to ‘reclaim’ a word that most people find abhorrent, you seriously have to question that standards of the party she represents.

James Shaw

James Shaw is co-leader of the Greens, (not that you would know.) Where has he been during all of this? Silent. Showing no signs of leadership. Refusing to talk about his co-leader’s campaign to reclaim the C word.  Refusing to address concerns about Golriz’s CV embellishments.  Refusing to hold his party members to account for their disgraceful and embarrassing conduct.

Let’s look at what the Green party has achieved since the election last year.

The Kermadec Ocean Sanctuary is dead in the water, scuppered by New Zealand First.

Water rights? Green Party policy was for an immediate moratorium in water bottling takes.  Yet Eugenie Sage granted an application for a Chinese water bottling plant to purchase more land so that they can expand their operation. This was a surprising about face on a policy that is fundamental to the Greens.

In another blow, a five-year permit has been granted to explore for seabed minerals off the New Plymouth coastline, overlapping a sanctuary that was established to protect the critically endangered Māui dolphins.

There will be more dead rats being swallowed when the Greens sign what is colloquially known as the waka-jumping bill. The bill has been labelled undemocratic and goes against the heart of the Greens ideology.

But don’t despair, here we have it – the big win for the Greens.

On Friday, Ms Ardern announced the decision to ban single-use plastic bags.  Touted as a win, it is in reality, a policy of virtue signalling nonsense that will make very little difference to the environment. It was clearly a trade-off for the Green’s support for the waka-jumping bill.

So what does all of this show? That you can dress up the Green party, put them in suits and dresses, have their make-up done and give them a bunch of slogans. But it is only a veneer of professionalism because when push comes to shove, they will abandon their principles in a finger snap, as soon as they get a sniff of power.  Behind the façade is a collection of potty mouths, frauds and liars all cobbled together by weak leadership.

The Green party is a shambles.  It would make sense for any competent Green MP’s with genuine political aspirations to abandon ship before the waka jumping bill is signed.  Anyone who remains in the Green party will be forever tainted by the disgraceful behaviour of others in the party.

I don't need to say anything Bloke, the content is pretty clear isn't it?  However you seem to want to attack the messengers rather than take in the message. Hopefully some of it will filter through to you though.

Run out of fairy dust yet. :)
