IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR TRAINERS re HANDLERS/CATCHERS Licensed persons should note that in future (i.e. October 2010 onwards) the schedules in the On Track magazine will on occasion include specific references to the need for trainers to ensure that separate catchers are provided for races over certain distances. This has been deemed necessary to remove the practice which has emerged over recent times whereby handlers (predominately at middle distance starts) are boxing greyhounds & then running from the start point to the pullup area to catch. Not only does this present some very significant OSH & safety concerns for participants & indeed all on course attendees, but it does not in any way portray a professional image for the sport.
