Chestnut 3,152 Report post Posted June 17, 2017 It was an incredibly tough day for selecting Lloyd I think the totals of most teams are evidence to that and I suspect that for many .. it was a day filled with horses we originally thought of picking but didn't due to track conditions etc.. Peter Jenkins 2,120 Report post Posted June 17, 2017 ROUND 8 Race 10 - Ipswich R9 1st - 5 Maternal W-$2.70 2nd - 1 Kinshachi Q-$6.90 scr: 6,9,12,13 subs: #5 then #1 3 THE DREAM TEAM (4th) $679.00 2 points 2 THE REDS (1st) $676.80 0 points The Reds needed Slumber Party to push on and win but she was looking for the broodmare paddock at the 200m mark so The Dream Team held on for a meritorious win, their last collects coming via Rosina and 6xes. The Reds, who missed a superior aggregate point by just $2.30, were represented by John (with a quinella) and Lloyd in the last. Sylvia was The Dreamers MVP while Gordy was a clear Man of the Match for The Reds on a tough day at the office. No bonus points were scored. 197.00 Sylvia 105.00 Lloyd 174.00 Rosina 90.80 John 124.00 6xes 310.00 Gordy 184.00 Alan 88.00 The Crucible 0.00 Mr Gee 83.00 Sarah 2 THE GRIM REAPERS* (2nd) $517.00 0 (x 2 Joker play) = 0 points 3 THE THUNDERBIRDS (6th) $534.00 2 points The Reapers had two chances to win it in the last but neither got into the finish so the Thunderbirds held on for an important win. Jason was Man of the Match for the victors who tipped just 6 winners between them all day while Cam was MVP for The Reapers who played their remaining Joker unsuccessfully and had a couple of team members fail to threaten the scorer. Inquests are underway I gather. No bonus points were scored with the Reapers falling just $18 shy of a better aggregate which would have been worth two points to them. 0.00 Rob 128.00 Sir Gallivant 124.00 Von Smallhausen 0.00 Moose 223.00 Cam 38.00 Jill 0.00 Cabbage 50.00 Damion 170.00 Hesi 318.00 Jason 3 THE TRUMPING DONS (9th) $1087.40 2 points 2 THE PRETEND GERS (3rd) $1131.20 1 point No Jokers at stake here but you wouldn't have known it with both sides going at it hammer and tongs. The Gers had lost the match with one to go but quinellas in the last for Casper and Ian (who also added a BB) ensured they passed the Trumping Dons' aggregate earning a bonus point. Ray was MVP for the Dons, who failed to score in the last, with Punter Pete also putting in a good shift (all his $$ coming in NZ). Man of the Match was Pretend Ger Tom with another stand-out performance. 344.00 Punter Pete 214.80 Kay 63.40 Sasha 147.00 Maria 51.00 Pete 609.00 Tom 436.00 Ray 81.60 Ian 193.00 Catalano 78.80 Casper 3 THE ANZAC ARMADILLOS* (5th) $640.00 2 (x 2 Joker play) = 4 points 2 ZIG'S WARRIORS (10th) $473.00 0 points Fast-finishing Banda Spice (3rd) was the Warriors' best chance for redemption in the last but couldn't quite round it off so the Anzacs held on for a dogged win doubling their points haul with a Joker play. Their final collects came from Cubes and Man of the Match PJ. The Warriors ran out of steam after they left NZ with just one win (Craig) in 50 attempts in OZ. Steve P was once again their MVP. No bonus points were scored. Hope Wrinkles win puts a smile on his face after another medical setback this week 139.40 Sharne 32.00 Craig 83.00 Viceroy 185.00 Steve P 89.00 Richie 50.00 Tony 191.80 PJ 38.00 Steve 136.80 Cubes 168.00 Wrinkles 3 THE HABIBIES (7th) $937.00 2 points 2 THE MONGOL STORMERS* (8th) $888.20 0 (x 2 Joker play) = 0 points The Mongol Stormers had 3 chances to make good with their Joker play in the last but Slumber Party's 4th was the closest they got. The Habibies all missed in the last but held on for a vital win, led by a huge performance from Man of the Match Isaac. Jack bagged his 3rd quinella in 4 races to easily take MVP honours for the Stormers. No bonus points were earned. 604.00 Isaac 219.00 Sarah M 0.00 Graeme 89.00 Betty 109.00 Brian 38.00 Rees 0.00 Pam 325.20 Jack 224.00 Maureen 166.00 Luca

The day's big movers were the Anzac Armadillos who used their Joker to good effect making up 3 places with their win over the Warriors who remain in the cellar but still have a chance for Finals qualification. The Pretend Gers and Grim Reapers lost both a match and a place on the ladder while The Dream Team won but still lost a place in a congested mid-table squabble. Important wins for the Thunderbirds and Habibies failed to make any progress up the ladder for either side however The Trumping Dons win got them into the qualification zone (just) climbing over the bodies of the Stormers whose Joker play came unstuck seeing them slide below the qualification line. Every team still has a chance to make the finals. Only The Reds are assured of a Finals berth. jasonmccook1 and Lloyd Vivian
