Breeder 608 Report post Posted April 18, 2017 It would be great if one of the racing journalists sat down with Tony, sometime after he has settled back in NZ, and asked him about the differences in training of horses in Japan. After watching the Arrowfield produced doco on the Japanese industry it is clear they do things very differently. rdytdy, shaneMcAlister, THE TORCH and 2 others
Ponderosa8 1,355 Report post Posted April 19, 2017 There are quite a few jockeys who have now passed the 1,000 wins mark but have to wonder how many rides it took for each of those to reach the 1,000.. Anyone have the ability to research that and advise back.... Gubelini perhaps.??? My guess would be Lance OSullivan reached it with the least amount of rides. (guessing Lance because I dont think Michael Walker or James MacDonald made it to 1,000 wins before leaving NZ but could be wrong).... Breeder 608 Report post Posted April 26, 2017 In the ANZ Bloodstock newsletter today there is an interesting article about the Japanese horse, Neorealism training in Hong Kong for an upcoming race with the track rider using some fancy technology set in/on his googles. The monitor measures heart rate and speed . As well as the track rider seeing the output data it can be sent back to the trainer (Noriyuki Hori) in Japan ( if necessary). gubellini 3,995 Report post Posted May 31, 2017 32 jockeys have ridden 1000 or more winners in NZ the latest being Robbie Hannam in April this year. Peter Harrop may be able to provide the number of rides each jockey rode before getting to the 1000 mark.
