Clapp 2 Report post Posted April 11, 2017 Valmagne needs to be retired 135 starts Cant win a nil field at Manawatu and hasn't won in more than a year Feel bad for the old fella only having one actual spell in his years as a race horse Craig Kennett needs to pick up his big gut and give the old boy a retirement WhoKnows

There are a hell of a lot less talented horses that shouldn't be in work than Valmagne. Hard to fathom why some owners persevere with certain horses when they have next to no ability and often they are also driven by people who have just as much ability! Guest Report post Posted April 11, 2017 Valmagne is certainly an "iron horse,. Not knocking the current trainer or caretaker trainers, but you would have to wonder how good these good horses that do a good job from smaller stables would go coming out of the larger stables with better UDRs? I don't understand your criticism of Daryl boko, he's won over a couple of hundred thousand and came 4th in a group 1 the other night. Nothing wrong with that I would have thought

WhoKnows 791 Report post Posted April 11, 2017 I don't know if he needs retiring just yet, but the poor horse deserves a decent spell at least, seems to be in at every possible meeting available to him, is it greed or something else? Varro 244 Report post Posted April 12, 2017 You could put this same point across to a number of trotters though. Look at a horse like danke, often racing twice in one night

final luca 189 Report post Posted April 13, 2017 a decade or two or three ago.. he would be classed as a young horse.. trotters around , then racing well into 14/15 + years. and did quite okay... think craig and josh have done well with this horse and 2 or 3 wins left in it for sure. shapiro 30 Report post Posted April 17, 2017 in regards to valmagne, they obviously know what they are doing, i thought he was absolutely no show in monbets rowe cup, if you look at where he was on the fence you would have written him off and then that fricken huge finish!! he was obviously well set for that, if he had of been in a better position he would have pushed monbet very close, no other horse in the race was making any ground, to me easily the standout run in the race, very hard to start to armchair second guess the trainers, when some of the runs (especially the rowe cup) have been in the best company and performed above what most people expected, im sure if he was in need of a spell, thats what he would get, the race yesterday may have been in weak company but its still a win and near four grand, isnt that just good horse placement? at 1-1 in the betting the punters obviously thought so.
