Water required in racing kennels before race

Recommended Posts

Is there any truth to this that the NZGRA are following NSW greyhound association in forcing trainers to put water bowls in their dogs kennels before they race at the track?

I hope not as I'm sure most people would know it is unhealthy for a dog to be drinking water right before they race around a track at High speeds and will cause big welfare issues in my opinion. I see in NSW, a few well respected trainers are already refusing to put a bowl of water in with their dogs and rightfully so

Couldn't scroll that article, but i take it concerns NSW, and not NZ. Two different countries with different climates. If they were to bring something like that into NZ, then i being the trainer and owner would be the final arbitrator whether my dog needs water or not.

I have heard rumours that they are wanting to bring in this same rule over here so I was just asking if there is any truth to this
