puha 2,177 Report post Posted March 19, 2017 Has been pretty quiet so far you'd think he'd need a good one before the next breeding season .
.... 226 Report post Posted March 19, 2017 I would put it a bit different than being a bit quiet!, he has been awful so far. 48 so far to race for only 11 winners and 1 stakeswinner, has nearly been a month since he has had a winner anywhere. Family got a nice pedigree update on the weekend though with his half sister winning the G3 Cuddle Stakes. puha

Jimmy Choux needs to start producing as he has been given every chance with reasonable numbers/quality and so far has progeny have been very poor with a distinct lack of quality , it looks likely that his books and stallion career will diminish considerably unless something changes. There must be some good Dalghars out there as he has similar stats 47 to race 17 wnrs , 1 stkewnr and the benefit of a NH crop yet they were in demand at the sales. I guess it helps getting wnrs in Aus.
.... 226 Report post Posted March 23, 2017 Pretty poor stats early also. In his benefit his quality and number of mares has improved so a bit of scope there and as you mentioned has a couple of handy ones in Sydney. In NZ/AUS is running at 11 winners from 27 runners which doesn't look to bad at an early stage. Has a big next season ahead otherwise the scrap heap comes a calling for stallions like this. The business is cut throat. Huey

Dopey 214 Report post Posted March 23, 2017 Heard all this before. Zabeel had a slow year (no comparison by the way) and dare I say Power has not turned things on fire as a two year old yet IN NEW ZEALAND - no more than Jimmy did ! time will out. Fair point in that it is very early and you cant judge completely especially from a 2yo crop (Power) but Jimmy Choux's progeny is about to complete their 3yo seasons and it can be vindicated that 'so far' they have not trained on or improved at all , you would be very brave if you were to support Jimmy Choux this up and coming breeding season unless there is a big drop in service fee (this season he has had 32 runners for 4 winners in NZ!). The stud know that they can do no more and are concerned, its now up to the horse and from results so far you would expect that his numbers will drop considerably in the future although he still has some very good numbers to work with in his next 3 crops. bazach 133 Report post Posted March 23, 2017 Jimmy Choux was a great race horse but doesn't have a very strong female line. Not that that means a stallion with an average female line can't be successful, but it is certainly one of the key things to look at when deciding on a stallion. Shocking also doesn't have a very strong female line and is doing well enough. Dalghar has a very strong female line, albeit he wasn't a 'top' race-horse. .... and Breeder

ngatimaru 51 Report post Posted March 24, 2017 I thought Jimmy's service Fee was way over the top. They might realize they have to reduce Heaps to get mares.. Considering his stock is at best performing ordinary.. puha

Nice win today, the stallion will be relying on him to step up as a 3yo next year and on that looks capable. Interesting that Keepa Cheval the Keeper half sister to Mufhasa looks to have produced the 2 most promising Jimmy Choux's around. Egyptian Queen by Karoi lad (sp) produced three million dollar earners (one might be in $HK I think) by three differ stallions - and not top draw ones either... Egyptian reign by desert sun group one winner Egyptian ra by woodborough group one winner And one by al Akbar (can't remember it's name) Pure mare power!
