Super Rugby 2017

Here we go. All set for the kick off this weekend. Golly that's come around quickly. I'm still sitting here waiting for summer to start..

Never mind; the boots are being laced, the Mighty Canes are the defending Champs and now we have another Barrett who looks faster than his brother.

Bring it on!

Yes love the Super Rugby.Blues went up a gear from last year but its a long year.Their tackling was pretty solid which stopped the Rebels dead.

Mind you the Rebels were depleted.

Highlanders couldn't get going with all the mistakes they made.Same old for the Chiefs. The team without the ball did better in this game.

The other game crikey. The worst bit of rugby ever.Sharks knocked it on about 15metres.Frisbee picks it up.Magic time for counter attack.Men outside him.

Frisbee kicks aaaaaahhh.Out on the full ffs.

Sharks need a basic skills coach. They couldn't even pass it along their backline to the winger.

It doesn't matter what the competition is, you don't want to go making big bets based on 1st round form.Blues and Canes looked like worldbeaters, but how weak are the Sunwolves and Rebels. Reds look improved and Brumbies were good against Crusaders. South African rugby needs a basic skills coach.

Some good rugby at the weekend, but in my view too many tight games are being decided by who goes to the bin on red and yellow cards. Those yellow cards that go against the jumper who doesn't get the highest are particularly frustrating. The Crusaders have been been assisted in both their games by such rulings esp v The Highlanders with Fekitoas card.

Just watched my last game of the BLUES for this season. Couldn't beat a makeshift/patched up team of Highlanders at Eden Park. Handling errors galore by a team lacking any leadership or direction. Tana Umaga seems to be having little affect on a franchise that continues to under perform.

Is it bad selection, or just a lack of ability? I no longer know or care.

GOODBYE BLUES for 2017.

Watched a replay of the Bronco's v Cowboys on Saturday night before watching the Blue's v Highlanders.

No comparison skill wise,Blues and Otago were crap and made more mistakes in 80 minutes than i have in my lifetime and i've got a houseload of kids.

What are Umanga's coaching credentials because whatever they are they haven't been on display yet.

In comparing these two games you're going with the most exciting brilliant spectacle Rugby League (any of the Broncos v Nth Q games) has to offered in the past 10 years, with the rock bottom dregs of a game from Super Rugby Round 3. Even I tune into the League when I see those two teams are playing.

But you are right Crusty, the Blues were rubbish. However it's got to the point you have to look past the Coach. They should have outbid the French for Aaron Cruden and started from there. Throw in Liam Messem and Dane Coles. It's an Auckwackers dream of course, but the point I make is players with their attributes are not currently in Auckland. You could build a team around those three. Currently the Blues have no such strong willed, pivotal players running the ship on the field and in the changing rooms.

What a lot of b/s theses rugby players speak;

When asked about the BLUES pe game Messam said''they are a team full of world class athletes'''

and ''some of the players can do things other can't''.

No evidence of it so far from Blues or Chiefs.

Those "world class athletes" went to Japan on the weekend and came a cropper. Do the Auckland Blues and the Auckland Warriors train and socialise together? They play a similar game, don't you think?

Well; that's another season done and dusted. Not too bad with the Canes largely reverting to how they were a few years back. They'll smash teams with the razzle dazzle in games that don't mean a great deal, but are shut out of derby games that really matter. They're not a bad team to support and at least we've now got one Championship in the cupboard. Maybe another - if we can snaffle home advantage in the Finals.

In the Final - I can't pick it. Maybe Lions, cause they at home.
