Sounds crazy if so, I probably went to the Hastings races 50+ times as an under 18 and was never charged once. I highly doubt that was the case but if so someone has some answering to do. biff 2,158 Report post Posted January 22, 2017 Geez, imagine if Crown start charging to enter their Casino? or any Casino for that matter, imagine the strip in Vegas if they were slugging punters to hit the machines, these people need to get out more. Don't really understand your argument, under 18's wouldn't be able to enter the casino so that's a moot point.

Midget 4,489 Report post Posted January 22, 2017 If this is true it's in line with WRC policy of the last thirty years whereby they've endeavoured to make everyone's Trentham experience so bad that they don't want to come back. The policy seems to be working. Peter Jenkins, Kent, MiDeBo Racing and 3 others

We're Doomed 4,824 Report post Posted January 22, 2017 What traditional racegoers need to realise is that meetings like this are now entertainment events for 20yos who often don't bet much so the gate charge is one way to get some money out of them. Although having said that it is also worth noting that the younger ones who are actually punters tend to do most of their betting with their phones so that can distort turnover figures a bit. What's that got to do with charging $30 for a 5 yr old. I personally would of said stick it up your arse and left . Yes, he said at the end of his show that he was off to do a job and question them about charging kids entry also stating he was definitely against doing so. tonkatime

It's more around what they are charging for a child or the fact that it's a one price fits all approach.
tonkatime 323 Report post Posted January 22, 2017 We use to go to Trentham 3-4 times a year until a similar incident. There was a winter meeting on and in a fairly cold late afternoon we were in the area so thought we would pop in and watch the last two races. When we and a few others unrelated people got to the gate we were told we would be charged full price for entry ($10). We were a bit taken back and would have been happy to pay half but the person on the gates attitude was basically pay full price or piss off. While the other groups did the later we begrudgingly paid the full price and went in. The whole incident just left us with a sour taste. We haven't been back to Trentham in over three years, they got there full price but have missed on a lot more revenue since. I was talking to a mate today who forked out $150 for him his wife and three kids, he also use to go to multiple meetings each year at Trentham and is now reconsidering.
