nathanleslie 19 Report post Posted October 12, 2016 Just brought my first Broodmare with colt foal at foot by Shamoline Warrior Mares name is Endless Gossip. Not sure on a Stallion to send her too.Any Help would be Appreciated . Dont Have a Large Budget .
gubellini 3,993 Report post Posted October 12, 2016 Hi nathanleslie. Endless Gossip is from a great 2yo producing family. She won at 2 as did her dam Chingquillo who won two Listed races in Victoria and run third in the Blue Diamond Stakes. Her grandam also won at 2. If you are wanting to breed a sprinter The Bold One stands for only $2,000 or a sire like Proisir stands at $7,000. If you are looking to breed a stayer have a look at Zed or El Hermano who both stand at $4,000. Endless Gossip is by Towkay out of a Bletchingly mare. This sort of breed are adept on wet tracks. With either Zed or El Hermano you should get a foal that would be a real wet tracker! Good luck in your first breeding venture. nathanleslie, Huey, Breeder and 1 other
nathanleslie 19 Report post Posted October 12, 2016 Thank Gubellini What do you think about IL Cavallo really liked him as a Race Horse but would i end up with a 800m wonder
gubellini 3,993 Report post Posted October 12, 2016 Il Cavallo very nice type standing at a very reasonable $3,000. Won once at 900m and four times at 1000m so progeny may not get much further. By Choisir the sire of my suggestion Proisir. Proisir won three from 1200 to 1600m. He also ran two Group One seconds so was a serious racehorse. His fee a lot higher at $7,000. nathanleslie
.... 226 Report post Posted October 12, 2016 What's Endless Gossip like as a type?, this is of massive importance when looking at a potential mating and should be considered before even thinking of which stallion could suit. What are you looking to achieve?, looking to breed to sell or to race yourself. These things need to be considered when looking at options. Catalano 951 Report post Posted October 12, 2016 Castledale is a good 'bread and butter' stallion who produces runners over all distances and track types, also the Asian market like them if you want to flick them on - think he's at about $2,

MiDeBo Racing 83 Report post Posted October 13, 2016 Could even look at Keano (Pins x O'Really) as Pins X O'Reilly has some nice statistics. Remembering that O'Reilly and Towkay are both sons of Last Tycoon. Think he is standing for $2000,
Nasrullah 180 Report post Posted October 14, 2016 The only stallions mentioned above that are commercial ( to sell at a sale) is Proisir and maybe Zed and Il Cavallo. There are other stallions out there that suit also. If you don't have a large budget I always say it is cheaper to sell a horse at the weanling or yearling sales than the cost to race a horse. Then if the mare leaves a good one you can decide on keeping a filly later. I would send your mare details to the top three 'commercial' stallions you select to see if you can get a discount because she is a nicely bred mare. Go for a stallion that the Aussies will like. A horse that had a Group One performance in Australia at 1600 up. nathanleslie

Nasrullah 180 Report post Posted October 14, 2016 Dalghar- A beautiful female line. Hard to measure the class he raced against. Of 18 starts in France none were in Group One races. As mentioned Australian Group One performers at 1600m upwards have a great record at stud in NZ. Still early days for him and one you can race. Commenced stud duties in France in 2012, New Zealand in 2012 His oldest NZ progeny will be 3YOs in 2016-17 Analysis by Crop Crop Foals Rnrs Wnrs Wins SW (GW) SWs(GWs) NZ$ 2013 22 18 5 13 0 0 219,913 13/14 48 13 5 6 1 1 181,764 14/15 38 1 0 0 0 0 175 Totals 108 32 10 19 1 1 401,
gubellini 3,993 Report post Posted October 14, 2016 nathanleslie you might be on to something. Towkay has yet to sire the dam of a SW. He has sired the dams of two SP runners one of which is Perfect Pecs who is by Anabaa who is the sire of Dalghar!

La Zip 468 Report post Posted October 19, 2016 Can only say what a great start you have made for first venture with Dalghar! We have a yearling filly and she is a pocket rocket! We love the stallion so much, we have sent another mare this year. There isn't a better related stallion in NZ than this fellow. And Nick and Anne-marie King are great to deal with, so best of luck with your mare! Breeder
Berri 2,131 Report post Posted October 20, 2016 Here is some trivia No Class had a sw 1/2 sister -Baraquillo- who left Chinquillo [Bletchingly] who won a couple of stakes races and was GR1 placed in the Blue Diamond. Berri 2,131 Report post Posted October 20, 2016 So you need some help. Dalghar is a good stallion in the making and love the Kings. They'll look after her. So consider the next mating. The horse to embrace is Smart Strike, by Mr Porospector. He became a champion stallion and sired a horse of the calibre of Curlin (absolute champion out of a Deputy Minister (Vice Regent) mare). Mr Prospector blood mixes very well with the family. So does Northern Dancer blood. Interesting that your mare is by Towkay ( Last Tycoon) who is by Try My Best who is by Northern Dancer. Vice Regent is also by Northern Dancer. But crossing to Mr Prospector blood will steam the windows up. Unfortunately we've got stuff all of the blood in this country. The one we had here was Straight Strike (Mr Prospector) who would have been a great mix on type. Hussonet would have been good. Shocking would be very interesting. He's by a very prepotent Mr Prospector sire line (Street Cry who's by Machiavellian who's by Mr Prospector). He's producing some quite nice staying horses which should go well with her pedigree. One of Shocking's best horses is The Hassler who's second dam is by Marscay who's by Biscay. It just so happens your mares' dam is by Bletchingly who's also by Biscay Of interest is that Dalghar is by Annaba who is by Danzig (Northern Dancer) out of a Miswaki mare. Miswaki is by Mr Prospector

Miswaki is by Mr Prospector Very much a novice here Berri, ... but regarding the above, how do you think Bullbars would suit. Traces to Mr Prospector on his sire line and to Northern Dancer on his dam's sire line? Also has Mill Reef up close, which from my limited reading, may not be a bad thing? Thanks for your post above, because I find this kind of detail very useful in learning
Berri 2,131 Report post Posted October 22, 2016 Not throwing any bad aspersions onto Bullbars, but on type he's not a true Mr Prospector line horse so that's not really what you are after....I wouldn't have thought....if you're after capturing the essence of Smart Strike
Willow Grove 11 Report post Posted October 23, 2016 Fantastic choice, we bred to Dalghar last year and the Mare has gone back to him this year. The King's are lovely and have taken really good care of our Mare and always keep us up to date. He really stamps his foals and is leaving strong bold foals. Dalghar's female line is fantastic, we were happy to get a Filly by him. biff and Caroline

La Zip 468 Report post Posted November 2, 2016 Dalghar only served a small book in France before coming to NZ. He only has 48 living foals from his first crop and 38 foals from his second. The fact is he has a Sydney Saturday metro winner, a Perth provincial winner and a Sydney provincial winner who should have won in town. They will do better with time, such as Anthony Cummings' horse, Golden Organic. Astara has a good record and proved her class in winning at Ellerslie in record time over the mile. Also take in account, there aren't too many "star" mares in the books he covered, but he is a half to 2 champion sires, comes from one of the best families in the European stud book and was a good, fast racehorse in France and the UK. Trainers who bought Dalghars' from the first crop, went back for more this year....so they obviously show ability. I think he is fair value at the fee he stands for. Brighthill is a good farm, family run and do a great job. nathanleslie, Black Kirrama and Willow Grove 2
