METHVEN PUNTERS COMP

Recommended Posts

Could be quite strategic this year given that last year the winning team got their starting pool of $800 just past the $1,000 mark.

First prize has increased to $5,000

Free food and beverage for teams of up to 4 - should be another great day.

......and a lazy bottle of red to say that the Whale will spank Westview !

Does anyone know how many punters comps has The Whale won in NZ?

I would be on Westview to spank The Whale going on past performance!

Westview was right again!

Westview Whale Whoppers today won the Methven Punters Comp.

Think this is the 3rd time in the last 4 years that a Westview team has won this competition.

Winning total was over the $3k mark.

How did "The Whale" go?

An "also ran" again!!!

Congratulations Westview, well deserved as you always are a great supporter of both the Methven and Addington punters competitions.

A keenly fought affair throughout - Westview always handy after Mr Woodlea came home for them in our comp's 1st race.

Last year's winner "Couldn't careless" right in it throughout and more than tripled their initial $8 hundy at the end of play in running 3rd .

Newbies "Percy"were also thereabouts after $100 win Rocki Warrior at $11's. They put $500 on the winner's nose in the last and came up just $29 shy of the winner.

Both teams quadrupled their starting kick - it was a day where the TAB's selector had 8 of 11 winners in their 1st three selections including 5 winners so a graveyard it wasn't.

A lazy red i owe the Westview team although it'll be swapped for a lazy white for Mrs Westview who helped heaps throughout the day taking entries and writing up with the leaderboard. 21 teams entered - a great days racing.

The Whale just had an "off" day and Westview had a lucky one. About time Westview showed a bit of form as has been badly out of class for a while.

JAKH!

Do you know how Craig went in the Auckland KPC heats?

I think winning 3 from the last 5 Methven championships is pretty good form.

For The so called " leading analyst in the country," you would think he would be winning some of the punting comps wouldn't you?

No I dont know how the The Whale went in the Auckland heats - tell me all about it. What I do know is that if Westview was a horse he would have qualified for the Met Multipler with his efforts at Addington in the KPC. NO He wouldn't he hasn't had the win yet !!!

Westview is horses for courses I would say.

Can anyone tell me why that great punter Brodie is not in these punting competitions(Cannot afford it) you go on and on about the Whale where are you that's right you do not support theses clubs

Fiery, thanks for your concern once again!

I have supported this competition previously, and think it is a great idea.

As I have pointed out to you previously, I don't beleive in some of the conditions of the competition and surely that is my perogative?

Dont like to be a hypocrite if I can help it.

Dont know why you want to think that I am a pauper when quite the opposite, but would you feel better if I said I was bankrupt, Fiery?

Welcome all to the 2019 Brown Pub Methven Punter of the Year competition.

Methven will revert to same format used from 2010 through until 2017 at which time we were ten part of the KPC format .

Our format is over the last 8 races with teams of up to 4 people competing for a $4,000 cash 1st prize. Entry is $800. We'll again provide food and beverage as part of entering this tough comp.

Depending on whether we card 10 or 11 races , the start time will be just after 1pm.

Some great names on our trophy including The Whale and Westview.

After recent workouts the track is in great order so we will be at Methven :)

Will there be any DB products for us unfortunates or should we bring our own?

Methven has always been a byo racecourse so you're welcome to bring whatever you'd like to Greg.

Our beer sponsor is Speight's and they have many other options - Coaster Howe opted for drinking Corona last time!

Haha. Coaster has weakened. I'll have a word.

Big question will be do they run them. Forecast is rain. They have got workouts there today but I heard it was snowing close to Methven this morning. Interesting to see what happens. They did cancel the previous meeting with less than an inch of rain that week
