MEDIA RELEASE

The Auckland Racing Club (ARC) is pleased to announce further initiatives that will provide racing enthusiasts with more racing specific information.

Website Upgrade:

The  www.ellerslie.co.nz website now includes a specific racing section which importantly includes:

   Sectional times

Pre-race meeting trainer and jockey interviews as well as post-race jockey comments from black type races and jockey comments from beaten favourites.

In addition, the websites includes the following

    Racedates

    Information relating to  Owners Privileges

    Feature Races

    Track Records

    Racing Terminology

    How to place a bet

How to read a race book

    Horse ownership information

    Industry links

The racing section of the website will go live on Thursday, 1 September.

Sectional Times:

After the success of providing sectional times for all races on Premier Days and all Black Type races on non-Premier Days during last season, the ARC in conjunction with Vince Accardi from  www.dailysectionals.com is pleased to announce that sectionals will be captured for all races (except jumping races) during the 2016/17 racing season.

The sectional times will be collated one to two working days after a race meeting and distributed via email and social media.  They will also be uploaded onto the racing section of the  www.ellerslie.co.nz website.

Collecting Jockey Comments:

New for the 2016/17 racing season is collecting jockey comments from beaten favourites.  As soon as practical after the race, these comments will be distributed via email and social media as well as being uploaded onto the racing section of the www.ellerslie.co.nz website. The ARC will continue to collect and distribute jockey comments from all black type races as well as other races of interest.

Craig Baker Executive General Manager Racing and Operations commented We are living in an age where racing enthusiasts want to digest more and more racing information.   They want that information to be accurate as well as timely. The ARC is excited to be able to roll out more sectionals times, more jockey comments and provide a racing section on  www.ellerslie.co.nz that can house all the information.

I must thank our jockeys who have all been more than willing to assist in the jockey comment process”.

For more information on the above initiatives, or to be added to the distribution lists, please contact Craig Baker Executive General Manager Racing and Operations

at  craigb@ellerslie.co.nz or 09 522 3818.

Well done Ellerslie - without doubt the most progressive and engaging club in NZ. Good management and fiscal oversight as well.....

Are you trying to get on the committee?

Credit where credit is due Admin2 - they are by far and away the only NZ club that you can compare to the wonderful Australian model. Mind you, there isn't exactly much competition behind them. The Champagne Turf used to be fantastic but could be the Asti Spumante Turf these days and what on earth has happened down in the Central Districts/Hawkes Bay etc. 'The Kelt' used to be something worth marking on the calendar - id rather spend an afternoon with Scott Watson than head there these days

Now how about the Auckland Racing Club take a positive approach to reach out and help those clubs that don't have a website and help them set one up.

We understand some of the outlying Racing Clubs in rural areas don't have there own website for whatever reason, maybe they don't have good internet access, or have more mature aged people operating them on a voluntary basis who are not as computer literate, who could do with some guidance and nurturing.

It could only be of benefit to the wider racing community and fraternity.
