alltheway!!! 640 Report post Posted August 25, 2016 How do they get their jobs? Must they be able to read? Because it seems the curiators up at Manukau dont even know how to read a simple weather forecast

modest mouse 469 Report post Posted August 25, 2016 You have to feel sorry for the trainers that travelled to the track, only to be told to turn around again. It seems to me that the stipes don't know how to read a track. It's not up to the curators to make the decision. alltheway!!!
alltheway!!! 640 Report post Posted August 25, 2016 www.metservice.com/towns-cities/auckland/manukau only had 13mm of rain prior aswell, and this track is supposedly an all weather track

The track was never going to be usable tonight. 13mm? Really is that all?

Jay4 30 Report post Posted August 25, 2016 13mm?? no way! I'm 15 minutes from track and it hasn't stopped raining pretty much all day and last night and a lot of surface flooding on the road. DC9

Slim Shady 479 Report post Posted August 25, 2016 Its really quite laughable to be honest. ...one would think that at probably around midday today when the track staff worked out that they couldnt even drive a machine on the track without the fear of it sinking up to its axles that it was quite likely they couldnt prepare the track in time for the race's...yes or no? So what time did the stipe turn up and decide that dogs cant run on a bowl of sand soup? Surely to god there must be one indian out of a whole pile of chiefs who can make the call and say "hey this track is beyond repair within the given time so lets call it quits" surely there must be? The stipes cant make the call cause they actually have no idea what a safe, unsafe or down right unraceable surface looks like and thats been proven time and time again.....who gives a toss about the trainers anyway aye.....wont be long and you will be able to buy an apartment there and reminisce about the dog track that was once right under your back porch. DC9 203 Report post Posted August 25, 2016 Yes Slim, it should have been obvious by mid to late morning that racing was not going to happen, especially as the rain isn't going to ease until tomorrow. Not the curator's fault, he's not a magician, but wasn't a hard call to be made by someone, surely. Slim Shady

it's a ballroom 174 Report post Posted August 26, 2016 IMO the problem lies with the track and the club . Surely it must need some remedial work ( I.e drainage etc) done to it . This is not the first or second or probably third time in the last year that the track has been really bad after a days rain. Are other tracks in the country as bad as this with just a days rain on it ? Just my opinion . alltheway!!!
