Undoubtedly the match-of-the-day this Saturday wil be the Renegades`v Panthers match-up. Sudden-death for one team, 'cos though the Heaters still have a shot I'd be reasonably confident that the winner of the Renegades v Panthers match-up will pick up the final slot into the Championship Round. Will be a very close call I'm thinking, with both teams having run the Broncos very close within the past 3 weeks. With 4 players featuring again in the 'Magnificent Seven' you'd have to fancy the chances of the Panthers (on paper anyway) though the reality is they've struggled through the comp to transfer star individual performances into a matching team result. Not quite sure how they've managed that :), but all the theorising there can be  left for another day.

The very best of luck to both teams. And to the Heaters.

This is what has made this comp so exciting. Even tho we are up againsted the Joker it matters not a Jot in the end. We are due a big effort after treading water for a couple of weeks, and  are baying for blood after last weekend. When that happens its usually curtains for the opposition. I have an ace in the hole this weekend(nod nod, wink wink), we shall see, but may the best man win, and the best of luck Panthers. PS.  you will need it in spades.

Wouldn't surprise. How often has Opunake Cup day been run (last year's meeting was abandoned)  in atrocious conditions; usually after a number of nice days as is going to happen again this year!

Update weather in New Plymouth for Taranaki racing.

Light rain currently falling.

Met office call: early rain tomorrow morning, then mostly cloudy and few showers.

Rain again in evening with heavy falls at NIGHT.    BUT

STRONG N/E's turning N/W in MORNING then rising to SEVERE GALE in exposed places evening 120 mph.

Gales and heavy rain now not expected til later tomorrow.

MIGHT make it.
