Irish 268 Report post Posted July 16, 2016 Well done to Eric from me as well. Delighted to see him win for connections and, most of all, for himself. Like Kakama, I thought he might hang on for a place with 600m to go. All of a sudden, Bingo!! Goodonya Aaron and a pat and a hug for Eric. WhoKnows 791 Report post Posted August 6, 2016 Kingiestar will win a steeple at short notice after today's run, just needs a better jockey, she looked scared every time she got to a live fence, good luck with Eric in the next. Bit tough on Emma for a horse that first start at steeples and only 3 starts in hurdles in which munched a jump at 2nd start with another jockey on..Thought a good ride that will give horse confidence for future engagemnent
barryb 2,062 Report post Posted August 6, 2016 Yes, tough comment really considering she has had 4 wins from 37 rides prior to today. When I look at the Actual to Expected (which takes into account the price the horse is paying) it says she has plenty of ability. A name to watch out for next season. richie

Looked only a place bet today over bigger fences running against winner, but the tactics of going forward early clearly backfired as the horse got lost at nearly every fence when in front. She is far from scarred, horse just a bit new to it all, even with schooling around live fences it is all a bit different Raceday. He'll be back here in 12 months time and the experience this year for him will be a huge asset. gubellini and kakama
gubellini 3,923 Report post Posted August 7, 2016 Emma gave Kingiesstar every chance. He just blew out the last bit. She did remarkably well to stay aboard after he jumped the last poorly. Posters should encourage Emma not bag her! puha, Brown Fox, kakama and 1 other

Yes she did well to stay on board but cant see anything wrong with suggesting the horse would have run 2nd had it stayed midfield where it had settled nicely . The ride at timaru was odd I thought. Who knows whether the tactics on that occasion were deliberate. No one expects someone who is starting off to be as good as the best from day one. No need to be so sensitive.
