gubellini 3,996 Report post Posted July 13, 2016 Recently retired The Bold One is to stand at Grangewilliam Stud at Waitotara next season at a fee of $2,000 plus GST. Outstanding value I would suggest for a son of Fastnet Rock. Ashoka
Breeder 608 Report post Posted July 14, 2016 This is an interesting stallion. The dam side is very strong from a family we know well. But it is a family which seems to produce it's best as fillies so, particularly if you are breeding to race, it could a case of hoping you get a filly instead of a colt. Insider 3,954 Report post Posted July 14, 2016 This just could be the horse to set the Taranaki- Wanganui breeding area alight again. I have faith! Anyone else agree? Ashoka
gubellini 3,996 Report post Posted July 14, 2016 Insider could be. Allan Sharrock rated him as a potential Group One horse before his wind operation. Great conformation and should sire some cracking types. I am not a breeder but am encouraging a friend with a Pins mare to send her to him. Most sons of Fastnet Rock stand for very large five figure sums so Mark Corcoran is definitely meeting the market. Catalano 951 Report post Posted July 14, 2016 Any thoughts how he would match up with a Pentire mare?
gubellini 3,996 Report post Posted July 15, 2016 Catalano a lot of Pentire mares tend to be a bit on the small size. The Bold One should put a bit of size into their offspring. You would have Northern Dancer on both sides of the pedigree as well.
Catalano 951 Report post Posted July 15, 2016 You are correct, she's built like a bull, all shoulder and a behind like Serena Williams. But she's not big. Swynford
