gazza123 51 Report post Posted June 4, 2016 GOOD coverage, don,t think they should have changed race times to suit aussie, puzzled why didn,t have sole coverage on 62 and nz galloping moved to 63,still would like trotters split by sex, think stakes should be cut to $60,000 for all grades as must be running at a big loss, turnover varied between $120.000 to $300,000 per race and distance at Cambridge to 2200,still a great days racing and abit of money for every starter

All the other Aussie bookies must have done well also. Pity the tab are not competitive in any way, could increase stakes if this money was bet here. But , if you are a punter, and getting 10%, 20% or more betting overseas, you would be a mug to stay betting here. Betfair was insane for the jewels yesterday. How good would it be if the majority of nz meetings were like that! Some of the pro's made plenty by the looks. Massive go for Partyon! Was a great day for punting if you used Betfair and Aussie accounts - especially if you bet with the one that had very competitive fixed odds win prices and took each way bets at 1/4 odds the place

Agree 2200m far more suitable. Next year I believe the fields will be smaller as trainers won't waste their time racing if AllStars have 2 or 3 in the fields at Ashburton. lecithin 429 Report post Posted June 5, 2016 1 hour ago, Brodie said: Surely though with Betfair if plenty made money then plenty lost?? Yep, that's how Betfair works. I was really referring to the fact you could back many runners for thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars on Betfair so most punters could have got set for whatever amount they wanted which is sometimes an issue... If you say that Betfair is the greatest to make money then for all the winners there is a loser. Betting with the Bookies you are taking money of the establishment and not other punters DAH! And where exactly do you think "the establishment" get the funds from to pay the winners? That's right - the losing punters! No losing punters = no fixed odds betting medium! Six of one, half a dozen of the other. Same difference in the long run.
N1MUE 1,877 Report post Posted June 5, 2016 If the bookies set and manage their markets correctly, it's exactly the same as Betfair - they are effectively matching bets from multiple customers and clipping the ticket. You're dreaming if you think anyone is taking money from the TAB's coffers. Yes on certain markets they might make a loss but overall they make a decent margin. HarryHindsight 117 Report post Posted June 5, 2016 You will find it impossible to explain betfair / how gambling works to a large % of NZ punters .. Pity they don't wise up here and let betfair pay royalties. Their international audience is larger than our TAB's current bed partner. Is the NZ TAB still the New Zealand TAB or just a TABCORP branch ? So who won yesterday the backers or layers. ?
2Piper 408 Report post Posted June 5, 2016 Didn't see any of them live so can't comment on the coverage , watched the replays online later on. Would think that people who spread their money over a couple of runners would have been the big winners on Saturday. Futures punters would have made it big or lost big because odds changed big time on some races because of the draws.
