thrillsnspills 36 Report post Posted June 3, 2016 They get the yearling results up faster...maybe they don't care. We are in trouble with our breeding if we sell horses below the studd fee, Dose this mean the stallion fees are to high or is there no money around ?, The studs can take a loss (but for how long ) Mr joe public can't which means he doesn't bred anymore and our industry will full over. In any good operation the boss will always visit the team on the floor when was the last time you sore any of our lot, This game is a numbers game breed numbers bet $ numbers buy $ numbers when this starts to full so dose our industry. The bureaucrats have to get up or get out otherwise it will be all over in less than 10 years or maybe they don't care, It will be a dam shame.....my view.. off to feed another slow one. Blue 1,099 Report post Posted June 3, 2016 If NZ Bloodstock can stream them and have at least provisional results up almost immediately, why can't Wrightsons? Not really a huge earner for them so they're not fussy on improving the service.
thrillsnspills 36 Report post Posted June 3, 2016 They gladly take there 10 percent, sell your horse well under the studd fee then tell us great clearance rate give me a break , yes we all know you don't have to sell, seems that there was far less buyers there than last year what holds for years to come....big big concern.... no horses as none of us can sell to break even then why bother surelly the bureaucrats can see this or cant they see the wood for all the trees we need horses to have a industry not rocket science. Toblerone 242 Report post Posted June 5, 2016 You guys really need to up your social media game... the results were available on Twitter, most live and many by request. Thrillsnspills, virtually every weanling on offer at Karaka was offered by Alabar and Woodlands, who receive multiple free serves on shuttle stallions and obviously can do what they like with the ones they own. This weanling sale is a very important part of the industry and both studs are to be congratulated as pretty much all of them went through with little or no reserves. It is a long weekend so Don't expect them up until Tuesday. As for selling below stud fees, one would suggest that unless you are a Alabar or a Woodlands where you can get young horses to sales at cost with the overheads per horse covered within the general operations of the studs it wouldn't be wise to be breeding to sell in the first place from anything less than a fully blown commercial broodmare. The top end yesterday was strong. Gone are the days where you could pick up bargains from the Auckland all age sale. You could simply put this down to the quality of stock that both Alabar and Woodlands are putting through comparative to say 5 or 6 years ago. Alabar have evolved how they now approach their in house breeding operations and by the looks of it may start be starting to reap the dividends for this. Fair to say the bottom end was correct given what was on offer. Alot of the lesser bred types may well be worth a shot but it's hard to justify outlaying money to purchase them at such a young age. Why would they be open on a Saturday of a long weekend anyway? Presume there may have been a couple of stragglers looking for a ride to their new home Saturday morning.... I have no doubt that Alabar and Woodlands are doing a good job here and a a credit to the industry doing this. However it is still poor with PGG not posting the results. At present I am watching the Tattersall Spring mixed sale REPLAY from the Meadowlands online. They already have the results up on their website. Capela was the highest lot @ US$67000. Her breeding is Sportswriter-Capela Rose (dam is Tupela Rose). 124 horses were entered at the Meadowlands , About 30 were withdrawn.
