Black Dog 72 Report post Posted May 1, 2016 Why Do the problems that have been on going at Auckland continue? Perhaps, looking at the the picture the trackside camera shows , focusing for all to see, as they zoom in to the troublesome sprint boxes, the first sign of deterioration is the algae STAINED unused advertising space above the boxing area, the second, the weeds and un kept bottom of the fence that is the prime focus for all to see. Honestly, if the management and committee cant get on top of these simple requirements , because quite simply, they are not performing at the basic level required to promote our sport . Should they stand down.? The drainage at the winning post is a problem and several meetings must have been close to being called off. Has the committee ever thought of investing in a simple water pump to drain the excess water off to the centre of the track?, Does the manager and consequently the track manager actually care enough to worry about these obvious mundane things? brainstorm, jasonmccook1, Moany Again and 7 others
clarkie 165 Report post Posted May 2, 2016 So gratifying to see the over head shelters that have popped up at the starting boxes at various venues recently. Amazing how slow our industry moves at times in a world going so fast !!. Handlers and dogs will benefit greatly from this thank you to all concerned Clarkie come on ref
aquaman 1,352 Report post Posted May 2, 2016 They won't get my thanks Clarkie, it should of been done 20 yrs ago. I see Addington have only done a 3rd job. Probably have to wait another 20 yrs to complete the rest.
Jape 344 Report post Posted May 2, 2016 Now, now, aquaman. the CGRC wasn't there 20 years ago. That aside, I believe you will find it is the NZMet who call the shots on such things.

aquaman 1,352 Report post Posted May 3, 2016 You have been there 17 yrs, stop splitting hairs. In that time you have managed 1 shelter, whoopee. Always excuses, bottom line, 1 shelter, 3 sets of boxes, always convenient to blame someone else. I think poor performance, but thats what we have come to expect. About time you did something about that dangerous timber your club has on the outside of the home straight before your club is responsible for the maiming of more dogs. If your club must have an outside fence, then make it a proper one thats high enough to stop dogs from running off the track. 6 inch fences break bones. Remember you heard it hear, that is before the next dog falls victim to the trap thats been put in place.
Black Dog 72 Report post Posted May 3, 2016 Well maybe Jape..If the N.Z Metro decides such mundane things as the "welfare" of the dogs and their handlers, after all of these years, to get one over head cover, perhaps you need to climb out of your box in extreme weather conditioners and let your tounge do the walking? and report back to those that wouldn't know Cheers
Jape 344 Report post Posted May 3, 2016 I see that it is not easy to make a light-hearted comment, aquaman and Black Dog, without "offending" someone. So be it. I am not on the CGRC Board but I was attempting to point out that the CGRC is subject to the administration of the NZM. And always has been. If either of you is as concerned as you obviously are, you would do better to communicate that concern directly to the CGRC rather than just air it in this arena. Put pen to paper. jasonmccook1 and scooby3051
Black Dog 72 Report post Posted May 3, 2016 (edited) Jape, let's put it down to a very sensitive subject perhaps I did not mean any offence.. What Aquaman stated about the length of time taken to erect a Basic requirement for the welfare of our hounds and handlers is so very true. Standing in pouring rain and wind at the start of a race for 3 extra minutes with a dog that has been at a temperature of around 18 degrees for up to 3 hours and now shivering is a helpless feeling.
