Round 6 - Sat Feb 27

Decided to give Randwick the heave-ho this week due to Winx, bigger fields in Melbourne and a crap weather forecast for Sydney at the weekend.

Rosina, Dave & The Crucible lost their unbeaten records last week but they have still won 4 of their 5 matches along with Sharne, Richard, Grant & Kay. While Jack, Ian & Hesi finally scored a win last week it is Steve who hopes to end his nightmare run against Sharne (good luck with that !)

Good luck everyone....shield challenge should be a doozy.....

Would have thought R8 Matamata a better option than the small field in R4 PJ...might end up with 4 starters there...?

Agreed but R8 clashes with Melbourne. 4 winning chances in the 2yo boys go. Could be a good race to break some deadlocks. It's sometimes forgotten how useful quinellas can be in this comp and we have seen a few take good advantage of that in recent weeks.

Not that I want it but is there a record for most consecutive losses?

And while I am here, apologies to my BaaBaa team mates, must be difficult 5 v 4 at the moment!!!

Steve, I think you are well short of the "record" at present. Your luck will change soon, I'm sure !

I could be wrong but I am thinking Howie in 2014 ?? Unless anyone can contradict me, we will go with that. :D

haha Lastchanceof40 :) ....having been removed from the Vice-Captaincy last week it sounds like you're making a strong play towards being benched ! Not saying that there's a lot riding on you winning the Lastof40 / Chestnut matchup this Saturday ...but I'm sure you can join the dots ! :D. Love being captain ...the power's addictive. hehe

Big match, Saturday ..... BIG ! .....Mighty Blues v Hurricanes : 1st v 4th  : Shield Holder v Wannabe  : Big City v Big Town : .......it's gonna be a good one folks.

I'm going with these to keep me ahead of a very highly-rated John who is ranked 2nd on PJ's  Magnificent Seven' list. Time for me to lower some tall timber :) :-

  • R1     : 4x5 (2)
  • R2     : 2x3 (4)   Best Bet NZ
  • R3     : 1x4 (3)
  • R4     : 1x9 (2)
  • R5     : 1x8 (2)
  • R6     : 1x2 (8)
  • R7     : 8x9 (6)
  • R8     : 10x11 (4)
  • R9     : 10x11 (2)  Best Bet AUS
  • R10   : 8x16 (7)

I was seriously considering playing the Joker this week, with Geoff's counsel being that the Hurricanes' best days are behind them, admittedly lots of dollars accumulated but struggling now to close out the matches that a season or two ago they would have won. For my part I still see there being easier pickings ahead in the closing two or three weeks. It was a hairline decision, but I've opted to pull my finger back off the trigger .......this time !

So...no Joker play this week ....we'll settle for successfully retaining the Shield and thereby earning more good points to maintain our position on top of the ladder.

Let's win this my Mighty Blues Brothers Gordy, Brian, The Crucible, and Geoff ! Go the Mighty Blues.

Good luck, John. Looking forward to a tight tussle in our personal match-up.

Thanks, PJ.

Mate you think you have problems?. Have a look at my dollar total. The only way I'm going to come into money at the moment is if I get my c---k  jammed in the till. Yeesh.
