Philocon 1 Report post Posted November 3, 2009 Even with proofing, errors still slip through when you consider the number of words and articles to be checked, the deadlines and last minute rushes to fit in late breaking stories etc. Errors are no more prevalent than in the past if you compare the numbers per paper and it also varies depending on the size and quality of the paper and the size of its circulation and staff. Also some of those headlines people think are proofing errors may not be accidental but clever puns and other devices deliberately done by sub editors such as "Red Tape Holds Up New Bridges."
