Leggy 4,076 Report post Posted September 8, 2015 pray tell me why?? if every police officer who lost in court resigned we wold not even have a police force Because the JCA agreed this was a complete waste of industry resources and the charges should not have been brought? And that the JCA found some of Mr. Purcell's evidence "curious"? http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/racing/71860910/judicial-chiefs-dismiss-all-charges-over-kevin-mortons-critical-website-posts
jess 1,244 Report post Posted September 8, 2015 Will be raising a glass to you tonight Midget. We all knew this was a nonsense from the beginning. I'm glad the stress and unnecessary angst is at an end for you and commonsense prevailed (eventually). Nearco 125 Report post Posted September 8, 2015 What a relief. Congratulations Kevin for the courage and composure you exhibited. A good example of how the Davids can still challenge and unseat the Goliaths. Now the focus turns on the governance of this great industry that we all love. I must say that after 30 years of breeding and racing horses, I was prepared to say 'no more' in the light of the unseemly behaviour of those salaried fools who run the industry. We need be proud of thoroughbred racing again. For this to happen, a number of people should exit the industry, making way for people who can exhibit common sense and integrity in the stewardship of a once-great and now sadly diminished industry. slam dunk 1,317 Report post Posted September 8, 2015 There is something wrong with the system. Everyone agrees the charges were flippant and a waste of time and resources. Then why are we hearing all this talk about massive costs. There has to be a mechanism that enables hearings to be held before all these dubious costs mount up. Lawyers themselves when sued go to court to get unrealistic security for costs that prevent themselves being sued and therefore allow them to operate with immunity. Anyone should be entitled to seek justice. Lawyers and the legal profession should not exploit that right. Midget 4,489 Report post Posted September 8, 2015 Firstly,Thank you everybody for the emails and phone calls of support pre and post of this hearing I must point out that Mr Neal was never the target,it was just in my view that he didn't handle the Touche incident as well as he could have.I do respect him and never wanted to infer that he was incompetent in his overall performance as a Steward. I,like the majority of Cafers and fellow racing participants of our Industry just want it to flourish,so I believe it is time to move on and turn the page behind this. I will do so by renewing my licence, which i had let lapse until this was finalised and continue to support the Industry by supplying some horses to race and enjoy Racing and continuing to socialise with the great people we are lucky enough to have in our Industry. Finally,to the people the contributed to my Legal Expenses and Thank You i would like to know if you agree if costs are awarded that the donations go to the Injured Jockeys Fund or if you would like the funds refunded,if you could PM,i will do what you decide. Thank you. Irish, elbow, Swoopa and 13 others

Midget 4,489 Report post Posted September 8, 2015 Revell,i thank you for the offer, but your brother does a sterling job with his horses and is a G1 Trainer.I am what is known as a hobby trainer and want to keep it that way. I must say,i think that Lee would be a great panelist on a Racing Show,as he is excellent speaker and always comes across in a professional manner when asked to do an interview and in the last 6 months his judgement has been spot on. meomy 971 Report post Posted September 10, 2015 Does anyone have the link to the interviews with Peter Early on Radio Trackside over the timeframe this case has been ongoing? It would be helpful to have it all in the same location as we are sure those both inside and out of the racing industry internationally may be interested in the full chronological order of events to view it in context. We haven't been able to locate the links or facebook page belonging to Trackside Radio where we would reasonably expect to source them, then again maybe that's because of the suns location interfering with the Grass Valley installed equipment they rely on these days. Midget 4,489 Report post Posted September 10, 2015 No wonder poor old Greg never had a hope Yes and they were told as much after the last telephone conference and Mr Dale wrote to them saying exactly that and asked for the charges to be dropped. They replied with a firm no and of course the Lawyers time clock continued to rake in our Industry dollars. Perhaps Mr Godber and Mr Purcell will pick up the tab for Legal Expenses. Teacher 15 Report post Posted September 11, 2015 I'm sure Kevin would agree, retrospectively, that he probably took a great deal of care to 'look good' in the saddle, and was probably, with zzz, Jim Collet, and only a couple of others, realised that looking the part, marketing if you like, was important. It was a new philosophy and practice in those days, and I would sometimes just watch to see what those guys were doing in a race. One thing though, I thought zzzzz was a better judge of pace!
