We certainly deserve that tag-UNDERACHIEVERS yes you guys too PJ have a very solid outfit, finished minor premiers a couple of times recently and failed to go on with it, it should be a ding dong go between the two underachievers alright, although Nekky can hold his head high, he has tipped with distinction Looking forward to the Spring racing, hopefully a better showing in the Spring comp from the Ferdies and Stags. expecting big improvement from the Magpies in the Spring comp Looking forward to the Blues Canes clash this weekend Steve v John hmmmmmm! bragging rights on the line maybe, although this could be the start of bigger things to come for the two teams, entree maybe I Have Left, Right first time, Todamax101 and 1 other
N1MUE 1,877 Report post Posted August 5, 2015 King's Troop looked good today Peter. Did a bit of work to get across to the lead but never in doubt after that. Not a big field but I reckon the second horse might not be too bad.
Peter Jenkins 2,120 Report post Posted August 5, 2015 Yes John, was a pleasing result. I think the first start probably franked the form a little better (Japonisme). Our NZ 3yo Collaborate trialled well at Te Teko yesterday in a very strong field and looks a likely sort.
Right first time 1,923 Report post Posted August 5, 2015 BLUES v HURRICANES Only 3 more sleeps ... then it's all on ! We know the Meetings, we know the Races ...now the study is on, except for our Captain Genius Geoff who says picking winners is "intuitive", whatever that means , and that he doesn't need to get bogged down with the paperwork ! On the face of it, based on the Comp stats, Geoff (Blues) and Richard (Hurricanes) both look the best of good things on Saturday, with both Ted (Hurricanes) and myself (Blues) having had our struggles through the Comp thus far. That would make it 1-1. So the outcome will come down to which 2 of the remaining 3 (Steve, Gruff, Moose) for the Blues ; (Cam, John, Hesi) for the Hurricanes ... get in the deciding stride. On the face of it, hard to split any of those six. Moose and Cam have a history of coming up with the big results for their respective teams, so their personal matchup will be a classic. There won't be any 5-0 results this time folks ...we're down to the business end and it's gonna be a close one. Let's just hope that the best team wins, so that Mayor Len can be proud. I've come up with my selections already, and have run them through the Blues ' computer. Computer's assessment is that I have a 97% chance of scoring 7 winners. On that basis I'm seriously considering staging an upset on Saturday. As yet I've still got to run it past captain Geoff , but at this point that's the plan, launch a complete upset with 7 winners. Without wanting to pre-empt anything, there's talk of quinellas being in the mix as well. Can't wait for Saturday, Bring it on ! N1MUE 1,877 Report post Posted August 7, 2015 what are the chances of an abandonment at Riccarton tomorrow ?? I certainly hope not - sprint distance might suit the Blues in their fresh state. Dead 4 down there this morning and Metservice suggests around 10 mms of rain overnight so hopefully no issues. Snow down to 200m so might be a bit fresh. jack
Ohokaman 5,843 Report post Posted August 7, 2015 Absolutely none PJ. Southerly due tonight which might bring rain into the morning, clearing in the afternoon. Sunny and 12 at the moment. We have had 0.4mm of rain this month ( average 13mm) and 280.6mm for the year ( ave.390mm) So would require a deluge of monsoon proportions to change things much. Dead likely, Slow possible.
