An Elephant in the ATC's Room?

Recommended Posts

If the back carpark is included in the land the government wants to discard for future housing, what does the ATC do?

Try to buy it back solo or perhaps with the Showgrounds?

Certainly, if it is lost for housing, we'll soon find out if the truck parking plan holds water once the Blues complex is completed.

Can't afford to buy it now but it's not on the market now. If all goes to plan there will be money available in 18months and that land could be used for more apartments.

I have a feeling of disquiet about the track being surrounded by all these apartments.  Will they all be made to sign a form to say that they will not complain about noise/lights/smell or whatever other excuse they can come up with from what is supposedly the soul the area, Harness racing?  There was the case in Mt Wellington with residents complaining about the noise of children in an adjoining playground, how can there be guarantees that the same will not occur at Alex Park?  Karaka residents (anecdotally) asking adjoining farmers to not graze cows in paddock because ruined BBQ nights.  Neighbours buying next to existing poultry quarantine, nek minute, gone?

Her ions the track is not been surrounded by apartments. They are been built in the area by the show grounds and home turn and there are covenants that stop anyone complaining about anything harness related.
