Little Avondale Lowland Stakes - track and weather update Monday 23/2

Recommended Posts

Dear all,

Ahead of the Group Three Avondale Lowland Stakes raceday we will provide track and weather updates daily. This time honoured fillies race is an important final lead up to the NZ Oaks, and has provided stong clues  to this race year after year.

Additionally there are also points up for grabs in the NZ Bloodstock Filly of the year Series which is in the balance after a spread of stirring performances by Platinum Witness, Saavoya and Vavasour. The race promises to be a fascinating renewal yet again.

Monday - Some parts of HB have had great rain in the last 15 hours, alas we have had 1ml. However there is further rain forecast today and looking out at present there are many dark clouds ciricling. High of 22, winds ENE.

Forecast - Tuesday - Morning showers, cloudy - high of 21. Winds ENE.

Wednesday - Morning shower, sunny spells, high of 22. Winds SE.

Thursday - Morning shower, clearing to a high of 22. Winds SE.

Friday - High of 23, ENE winds.

Saturday - Fine and high of 25, WNW.

Track reading - Good 3, irrigation to be applied if we don't get the rain as forecast with the plan to get a Dead 4 race morning.

The rail will be in the true position, which has not been raced on since the New Years day racemeeting. At the last meeting the rail was at 3m.

If any stakeholders require further updates please do not hestitate to contact our Track Manager Richard Fenwick on  027 235 8556.

Regards and see you Saturday Trackside
