beerwithduncan 724 Report post Posted February 6, 2015 I'm a harness man from way back but was extremely disappointed at the lack of sensitivity and indifference displayed at that moment after Race 3 at Wingatui. Nothing that happened on any NZ racetrack today was ever going to be a more significant moment than that. Does Trackside represent the NZ racing industry or the industry of greed? jasonmccook1, hedley, ivanthegreat and 4 others
Chestnut 3,152 Report post Posted February 6, 2015 Whilst from a personal viewpoint I might have liked to see more coverage after the race, I think we have to take a step back and realise it's not all about us, and I think in many ways it was a very personal moment for the family, so I am in two minds and at the moment I'm erring on the side that it was right that respect and no additional attention by trackside was given to the family after that race. jasonmccook1
mckenzie 608 Report post Posted February 6, 2015 From my time watching Trackside I would think it would have been a matter of whoever was in charge not being bothered enough to cover it. Over the years the personal side of the sport has been ditched in favour of covering more races and turning it into a straight gambling station. There is a disconnect between Trackside and the grassroots. Most followers of the sport are interested in the personalities, faces and stories, and it doesn't surprise me that in this instance they didn't have the know-how in management/producing/presenting to handle it in an appropriate way when the moment arrived. THE TORCH 670 Report post Posted February 6, 2015 Jeez they infuriate me. Will be someone in charge with no clues about racing and/or an Australian who has no empathy towards NZ racing identities. Bought at Karaka 09 for $285,000 it's racing now for $6,000 with current stakemoney of $1,830 ( thank you for sin-decashun ) . Actually I think it mostly ran on the flat..................... hedley 1,900 Report post Posted February 13, 2015 SAT 14th FEB and we see that Southland's races 6,7,8,9&10 are to be switched channels onto Tside~2 they have no idea as usual, ignoring the compliments and praise for when they'd kept them all together awhile ago..dunces if punters want to bet on Aussie racing, THEY should be made to switch channels on their own t.v. remotes integrity and awego
mckenzie 608 Report post Posted February 14, 2015 The 5th at Randwick today Trackside 1 are giving the lead up, it's running late and suddenly they change it to Trackside 2! Switching over between the cricket I luckily changed over in time to hear that announcement. Never mind being the prouducer, it's stressful just being a viewer and trying to work out what's on which channel what is going to be on. They need to make some big changes because this regime is not working. My idea was to have a 3rd online only channel for those races not many people want to watch. But I think hell will freeze over before they put customer satisfaction ahead of broadcasting the maximum number of races they can. awego and hedley
bestbets 206 Report post Posted February 14, 2015 My club I attend has one TV set up for T1 in the area that I socialise. We have a TAB machine in another area of the club and that has T1 & T2. Sadly that is out of view to where I socialise as I play snooker. Most times the NZ racing is on T1 and every so often they decide to throw the NZ racing on T2 so I miss out watching the NZ racing which is annoying. Why can't they just leave all NZ racing on T1 and all other racing on T2 and for those that set up My Sky to tape the races while they go about there daily activities can come home knowing that they will be able to sit down and watch the races. I don't like to moan as I think what we get is brilliant even though we now just take it for granted and expect the best, all that needs to happen is to have some consistency. I see often the horse names up on the screen who ever is responsible for typing up who is leading, running 2nd and 3rd is an embarrassment to the industry. So often the name put up is wrong and even when the commentator is telling you who is leading they still get it wrong, what must the outside world watching our races think of us. (3rd world technology comes to mind) Cubes, chelseacol and THE TORCH
Scotch Thistle 133 Report post Posted February 15, 2015 You are spot on, bestbets, about how hopelessly incompetent Trackside can be at identifying the 3 leading runners. Anyone who doubts this should look at the video of the Group II Avondale Cup, where for half the race Saint Kitt was shown as leading, whereas George Simon was correctly calling Silk Chardonnay as in front (where she usually races) and Saint Kitt in the rear group (as tends to be his racing style). Adds to other embarrassments we put in front of overseas viewers, such as starting gate lotteries. chelseacol and Cubes
chelseacol 2,488 Report post Posted February 16, 2015 Yep one of my pet peeves is the leaders getting shown wrongly. I watched the race on my phone on Saturday while at the cricket - couldn't hear the commentary and watching on a small screen after several beers - and I could tell the names were wrong !!!
