N1MUE 1,877 Report post Posted March 28, 2015 Scary how good Hartnell and To the World are. When they both sprinted, one of the best horses to come out of NZ in recent years, was left in their wake, and even though they both kept up a strong gallop 7 and 8 wide around the turn, Silent Achiever who took the inside passage and saved lengths, was still left to look ordinary Yep i think Roger's dreaming with his Prix de L'Arc aspirations. She probably wasn't good enough to compete over there when she was at her peak a year ago, and she certainly isn't at her best now. N1MUE 1,877 Report post Posted March 28, 2015 Apologies for no table update after race 9 - site crashed on me. Table looked a lot like the table after race 8, except Turbos were up to 15 points. Ferdies were a chance to fall out of top 4 if Roger could pass Viceroy, but per Peter's "to win" post it doesn't look like he did. Suspect top 4 are the same as per the table after race 8 but will leave that to Peter to confirm. Nice work Chiefs - we were never close after 2 or 3 races. I think hesi might have spared us a down trou.

The Babas win secured their finals berth with only Sasha scoring in the last. Steve, who got a nice quinella in the Vinery was Man of the Match while the Turbos earned a bonus point (doubled with their Joker) for a higher aggregate. The Babas need a sub for The Dude for the last two weeks of the comp. 347.20 Steve P 256.00 Kay 253.00 RS Dude 113.00 Jason 100.00 Mr Gee 312.80 Mike28 180.00 Forrest 97.40 Sarah M 95.00 Sasha 326.40 Brian 1 Hurricanes* (1st) $784.80 0 (x 2 Joker bonus) = 0 points 4 Chiefs (10th) $1613.20 4 points The Chiefs celebrated a big win with a 4th winner from Jack in the last and with the two bonus points for a team profit and 4-1 margin they have escaped the Wooden Spoon playoffs ! The languid Hurricanes outfit ended the day with BBs from Cam and Hesi while John added his 5th winner, although they were already through to the Champs playoffs. Hesi passed Jack in the last to reduce the Chiefs' winning margin slightly. John was the Hurricanes' MVP, although unlucky to strike Man of the Match Skoota in the draw. 171.40 Cam 247.00 Tom 264.00 John 550.00 Skoota 92.00 Steve 276.00 Grant 77.00 Ray 381.20 Maria 180.40 Hesi 159.00 Jack 4 Kauri Kats (3rd) $1089.20 3 points 1 Highlanders (8th) $838.40 0 points Destiny's Kiss could have turned the match around for Otago in the last but never yelped so the Kauri Kats eased into the Finals playoffs with a comfortable win bagging a bonus point for a 4-1 margin. Sylvia and her opponent Craig (who landed a BB) were the only scorers in the last. Sarah was the MVP (Top Cat) while Cubes took Man of the Match honours again. The Highlanders defeat has consigned them to a Wooden Spoon battle against their local rivals and former Champs - the Stags ! 119.00 Sharne 98.00 Pete 212.00 Pam 112.40 Pogo 113.00 Graeme 358.00 Cubes 305.40 Sylvia 157.00 Craig 339.80 Sarah F 113.00 Lloyd 4 Blues (7th) $1738.20 4 points 1 Crusaders* (6th) $962.60 0 (x 2 Joker Bonus) = 0 points The Red-and-Blacks were beaten before the last but ended strongly with wins from all but Dave while the triumphant Blues also all scored with the exception of Man of the Match Gruff, who had picked 6 straight winners up to the penultimate race. Rees, who also got a mighty tally, added a BB in the last. Gary just pipped Richard to Canterbury MVP honours. The Blues took a bonus point for a team profit and another for the 4-1 margin but the win came too late to propel them into the Finals and they now face the dogfight that is the Presidents playoffs against some other dented reputations. 216.80 Howie 141.20 Dave 74.00 Geoff 40.00 Rob 609.20 Gruff 314.40 Richard 589.20 Rees 151.00 Richie 249.00 Moose 316.00 Gary 2 Stags (9th) $1096.80 1 point 3 Ferdies* (5th) $1010.20 2 (x 2 Joker bonus) = 4 points The Stags two chances to steal it back in the last never emerged so the Ferdies held on to win narrowly with final collects from Bryan, PJ and MVP Heather who was unlucky to strike an in-form Casper. The Stags final dollars came care of Alan (with a BB), Nekky and Man of the Match Ian who landed a nice BB quinella to power the Stags past the Ferdies aggregate for a bonus point. It wasn't enough to get them out of the cellar and will next week face their Northern neighbours in a grudge match for the Wooden Spoon. N1MUE 1,877 Report post Posted March 28, 2015 John was the Hurricanes' MVP, although unlucky to strike Man of the Match Skoota in the draw. Never really felt like an MVP performance - Skoota delivered an exquisite knockout blow in just the second round. Hesi's right though - Canes cruised to the line in first place. Stipes might have a word to the jockey for not riding it out, but trainer will be happy that it didn't have a hard run the last 200m or so.
