eljay 1,711 Report post Posted November 22, 2014 These guys, both the scribes and the mouths, have once again come to the end of their season showing us all what a pack of negative amatuers they really are. I'm sure they wouldn't last a minute in Aussie. Every week their previews have been about how the AB's can be beaten and in many instances how they would be beaten, but lucky for the AB's their coach has obviously either not even bothered to read/listen to these chumps or just treated them all as quasi "Goofies". When you are the top dog, it is natural that your opposition will put in special efforts to topple you and as such the AB's have harder matches week after week than the rest of the world do. So I present these so called experts a target for next year, being world cup year, that they concentrate their efforts writing about how bloody good we are, how we are going to demolish our opponents and especially pointing out where their weaknesses may lie rather than the rubbish they have dished up this season. crustyngrizzly 1,683 Report post Posted November 22, 2014 the press are the mouth piece of NZ rugby. They publish negative items of how we could be beaten etc so that the gullible public think that there is a chance og them being beatenEven when they plat the likes of USA and Japan they do the same thing. The press have to keep rugby on the front page or else interest would slowly ebb away.New sports trying to establish themselves in NZ just can't get going because rugby be it 15s 7s touch just won't allow it.Examples of that are Gridiron and baseball very little coverage in the press at a local level. Lets face it we are a 1 country sport and it's shoved down our throats all year long at the expense of actual news.Don't forget an AllBlack passing wind is more newsworthy than a tidal wave, famine, floods and war all brought to you by the local press. eljay 1,711 Report post Posted November 22, 2014 You are probably right crusty. And do you notice that perhaps the majority of commentators on radio, who profess to be experts, have probably never played rugby, and their number one love is soccer (I make no apologies for using that term). or even a non-ball sport. Heard one this morning say we should be worried because the AB's are a declining unit. What a clown! If what he says is in fact correct then the world game must be in decline even more as none of the big names managed to beat the AB's. Let's get positive about the world cup. Let's tell the other nations we will thrash the living daylights out of them and in fact they wasting their time even turning up
crustyngrizzly 1,683 Report post Posted November 22, 2014 Well i think the problem is that we do expect to win every world cup but the facts are that we have won 2 but both at home where as aussie have also won 2 but both away from home. All this does is suggest that we struggle to win away in the world cup which i would say in my humble opinion wan't change this time around. A country's national sport dominating the media is the way of the world Crusty. Go to Melbourne and see 12 pages of AFL. Travel to London and see page after page of Football. The reason Radio NZ hosts bring up rugby news so often is that the number of callers doubles when they do so. It's what the public wants. They don't want to read or talk about Gridiron or Baseball.
