Peter Jenkins 2,120 Report post Posted September 6, 2014 Firstly apologies for the slow posting of results for the last couple of races. New PC and Google Chrome and Windows 8 are utterly incompatible. Grrr.... ROUND 2 Race 10 - Randwick R7 1st 10 Lucia Valentina W-$8.80 2nd 1 Tiger Tees Q-$18.30 Scr: 3,9,11,16 3 BUSH PIGS (1st) $1489.80 3 points 2 KAURI KATS (3rd) $1586.60 2 points Pam (with a BB) and Graeme ended the day on the right note for the Kats while Man of the Match Ray signed off with a winner for the Bush Pigs but the match came down to the countback for the McCooks versus Rosina with Jason and Sarah tipping Tiger Tees and Weary while Rosina elected to go for Weary and Gypsy Diamond. With Tiger Tees finishing 2nd and Gypsy Diamond unplaced the McCooks prevailed and thus the Bush Pigs came out winners 3-2. The Kats earned bonus points for a superior aggregate and a team profit so they came away with almost as many points as their conquerors who earned a bonus point for a team profit. Sharne, who bred the Great Northern Hurdle winner, was fittingly the Kauri Kats MVP. 422.60 RS Dude 143.60 Betty 43.00 The McCooks (on a countback with Tiger Tees 2nd) 43.00 Rosina 127.00 Sylvia 676.40 Sharne 790.80 Ray 440.00 Pam 106.40 Viceroy 283.60 Graeme 2 HURRICANES (6th) $1212.20 0 points 3 FERDIES (2nd) $1392.40 3 points A sensational finish here where the Hurricanes had led comfortably for most of the day but only scored one win between them in the last 4 races and in the last Maurice and Bryan landed BBs to overtake their respective opponents John and Kay to secure an unlikely win. Cam was Man of the Match for the 'Canes while Maurice just edged The Don for MVP honours for the 'Naki side who earned a bonus point for a team profit. Apologies for my own dismal effort 449.60 Cameron 395.60 Taranaki Don 220.00 Rees 84.00 PJ 268.00 John 397.00 Maurice 57.60 Kay 219.00 Bryan 217.00 Steve 296.80 Heather 1 BLUES* (5th) $765.80 0 (x 2 Joker bonus) = 0 points 4 HIGHLANDERS (7th) $1393.00 4 points The Blues elected to make a Joker play very early in the comp and led 3-1 after 3 races but on a tricky day it all slipped away from them and they came away empty-handed with the Highlanders adding bonus points for a 4-1 margin and a team profit. No one found the Savabeel winner in the last with Brian taking Man of the Match honours while Moose was a modest MVP for the Auks. 193.00 Alf 344.60 Dave 214.00 Moose 426.00 Brian 117.80 Gruff 296.80 Gary 157.00 Howie 0.00 Craig 84.00 Geoff 325.60 Pete 3 CRUSADERS (4th) $1555.20 3 points 2 CHIEFS (10th) $1200.60 0 points A good tussle which saw the Cantabs take the lead but lose it with 2 races to go but the 'Saders fought back in the last to win thanks to Mardy (care of a scratching replacement from Tony) snagging the quinella to pass Tom. The Chiefs valiant effort was spearheaded by MVP Maria while Tony (who also bagged a quinella in the last), took Man of the Match honours. The Crusaders took a bonus point for a team profit. 605.60 Tony 89.00 Jack 301.60 Mardy 189.60 Tom 494.00 Rob 132.00 Skoota 43.00 Richard 501.00 Maria 111.00 Richie 289.00 Grant 4 STAGS (9th) $1075.80 3 points 1 SHARKS (8th) $900.60 0 points The Stags sealed their win with BB collects from Alan and Ian in the last with the former breaking his deadlock with Mark at the death. The Sharks were never ahead at any stage and failed to score in the last with their only bright light being a powerful performance from new signing Geoff who took Man of the Match honours. The Stags, who took a bonus point from their 4-1 margin, were led by a nice hand from another newbie, MVP Forrest. 484.80 Forrest 236.60 Al 265.00 Ian 43.00 Lloyd 176.00 Alan 0.00 Mark 82.00 Nekky 0.00 Mike 68.00 Roger 621.00 Mr. Gee (Geoff)
Peter Jenkins 2,120 Report post Posted September 6, 2014 Please PJ - I've only had one winner all day - but it was The Cleaner. [ I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming!] Thanks What a FRUSTRATING day!!!!!!!!! This epitomises why I would like a comp where place divvies are taken into consideration... 0, 3rd, 2nd,[ sub wins], 0 [sub wins again!], 2nd, 2nd & 3rd, 4th, 3rd, 1st, 2nd. Well done Ian! Yes, sorry Ian. The race 9 results are a shambles but have double-checked everything and the Final Result shouldsee all errors fixed. It was a tough day in many ways... Right first time 1,923 Report post Posted September 6, 2014 Gotta drag the jacket and tie out on a Sunday ...been summoned to Corporate Towers, Blues HQ, Downtown Auckland to a hastily-called alleged crisis meeting to explain what has been termed in the email as a "flagrant and appalling captaincy mismanagement and waste of the precious joker two strides out of the starting gates in the 2014 PJ Spring Super Comp." Oh dear, don't know how I allowed "LastTime I'll ListenTo Him of 40" talk me in to this mess ...I'd had an inkling this would be a bad idea ...now I'm facing the earliest ever captaincy impeachment in PJ Super Comp history, and possible banishment to one of the far-flung pioneer outposts of the empire, destined maybe to tragedy with the Kauri Kats or worse still, to Hamilton to languish with the Chiefs ! Oh the pain. So these are the options I'll be presenting today to explain the administrative oversight :- - Over-exuberant team-mates pushed me (never take the rap when there are others you can throw under the bus) - When I said we'd be playing the Joker, PJ inadvertently took me to be meaning this round ! (when all else fails, blame the ref) - When they said he was the Top Sprinter in the World, we took that to mean he was the Top Sprinter in Australia, too. (sour grapes ) Just hoping and praying that we mighty Blues have been assigned the Hurricanes as a matchup this coming Saturday, we need a confidence-boosting softer target than those feisty Mainlanders so that we can get the good ship Auckland back on keel and back in this race !
